Bottom Line

Barring an injury, it’s tough to see Wright gaining fantasy value in 2024.

He’ll enter the season behind De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert – a pair of excellent ‘23 performers.

Wright’s Round 4 draft capital suggests the Fins see a future rotational piece. That’s backed up by his explosive tape. Still, for this year, he’s a late-round lotto ticket.

What We Learned Last Year

  • Speed is Wright’s calling card, and he really proved it in 2023.
    • 20% of his rushes went for 10+ yards.
    • All four of his rushing TDs were from 40+ yards out.
  • He also flashed some power to his game, averaging the most yards after contact of any rookie RB.
  • Wright proved capable in the receiving game. After totaling 8 catches from 2021-2022, he notched 22 last fall.
  • The 21-year-old enters the league fresh. He’s never carried the ball more than 146 times in a single season.

What to Expect in 2024

  • Wright underwent winter thumb surgery and was held out of pass-catching drills at the NFL Combine. He was fine for OTAs.
  • He blazed a 4.38 forty time and broad jumped 11’2 – particularly impressive at his size (5’10, 210 pounds).
  • The Dolphins traded up to land him in Round 4. He was the fifth RB off the board.
  • It’s a clear luxury pick for a Fins squad that has Raheem Moster and De’Vone Achane under contract beyond 2024.
    • That duo combined for 312 carries, 1,812 rushing yards, and 26 rushing TDs last year.
  • Miami’s O-line looks like a potential weak link after losing G Robert Hunt and C Connor Williams in free agency.

Raheem Mostert, RB MIA

Raheem Mostert (Chest) to Miss Thursday's Game

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel announced Wednesday that RB Raheem Mostert will miss Thursday night's game against the Bills because of a chest injury. That leaves the backfield to De'Von Achane (if he plays) and Jeff Wilson Jr. -- and likely means Miami will activate rookie RB Jaylen Wright.

Dolphins RB De'Von Achane suffered an ankle injury against the Jaguars in Week 1 and appears headed to be game-time decision on Thursday Night Football against the Bills. With RB Raheem Mostert already out, RBs Jeffrey Wilson Jr. and Jaylen Wright will both have increased touches in Week 2.
