Chiefs Bring Back Kareem Hunt

Chiefs Bring Back Kareem Hunt

The Chiefs are re-signing RB Kareem Hunt to a one-year deal. It has a base value of $1.5 million with another $1 million available in incentives, according to insider Jordan Schultz. It's a cheap contract for a 29-year-old who was forced into a significant role last season. Hunt joins Isiah Pacheco and Elijah Mitchell in Kansas City's backfield for now. The Chiefs are still a candidate to add to the depth chart in next month's draft.

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (rib) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice. He's on track to play vs. the Texans on Saturday. Pacheco split backfield work with RB Kareem Hunt after returning from his leg injury, totaling 49 carries and eight targets in five games vs. Hunt's 45 carries and 10 targets. We're projecting a similar split against Houston.

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (rib) has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He's expected to be ready for the team's playoff opener in a couple of weeks. QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Kareem Hunt, and TE Travis Kelce are listed as doubtful and won't play in this meaningless game. Don't expect WRs Xavier Worthy, DeAndre Hopkins, or Marquise Brown to play much, if at all.

Chiefs QB Carson Wentz will start this weekend's game vs. the Broncos, HC Andy Reid said Wednesday. QB Patrick Mahomes will get the day off after clinching the AFC's No. 1 seed last week. Other key contributors like RBs Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, WRs Xavier Worthy, Marquise Brown, and DeAndre Hopkins, and TE Travis Kelce also figure to be held out or limited against Denver. Try to avoid the Chiefs offense in Week 18 fantasy lineups. They're currently implied for only 14.75 points in Denver.
