Jonathan Taylor, RB IND

Jonathan Taylor OUT for Week 9

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. He aggravated that ankle sprain last weekend and didn't practice at all this week. HC Frank Reich said Friday that there are no plans to put Taylor on IR right now but labeled him "week to week." Indianapolis' bye isn't until Week 14. Taylor's absence leaves the Colts with RBs Deon Jackson, Phillip Lindsay and the newly acquired Zack Moss. With Taylor out in Weeks 5 and 6, Jackson totaled 25 carries and 14 targets to Lindsay's 14 carries and 7 targets. Jackson should lead the way this weekend and is a decent RB2 play with 6 teams on bye.

Colts RB Deon Jackson was knocked out of Sunday's win over the Jaguars with a quad injury. He racked up 42 yards and a score on the ground plus 10 catches for 79 yards before exiting. Jackson's absence left Phillip Lindsay as Indianapolis' top RB. We'll see if Jackson, Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines are available for Week 7

The Colts have downgraded RBs Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and Nyheim Hines (concussion) to out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. That leaves Deon Jackson as the anticipated starter. He obviously lands in a good situation for touch upside. Jacksonville does rank 9th in Football Outsiders' run-defense DVOA and 7th in overall defensive DVOA, though. So it's not a terrific matchup. Consider Jackson to be a fantasy option if you're in need rather than a player to specifically target.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday night's game vs. the Broncos. He was always a long shot to play on the short week. Taylor's injury reportedly isn't serious, so he should have a shot to return for Week 6. JT's absence in Denver will leave the Colts with RBs Nyheim Hines, Deon Jackson and Phillip Lindsay, who's expected to be elevated from the practice squad. When Taylor missed Week 12 of the 2020 season, Hines played 65% of the offensive snaps and handled 10 carries and 10 targets.

Dolphins RB Phillip Lindsay has joined teammates Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed on the COVID list. All 3 are vaccinated, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, so they have a chance to be cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the Jets. Miami has RBs Duke Johnson and Gerrid Doaks on the practice squad, with RB Malcolm Brown still on IR with the quad injury he suffered back in Week 7.
