        Week 1 Overview

JSN wound up just 29th among WRs in target share last season. But he overtook DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett as an NFL sophomore and then watched both guys leave town. Sam Darnold's arrival doesn't boost the outlook, and new OC Klint Kubiak has promised more run focus than last year's offense showed. But JSN should open the year as at least a safe bet for target volume and solid WR2 option.

Playing Time Tight Among Seahawks WRs

Playing Time Tight Among Seahawks WRs

Sunday gave us a tough first game from which to judge the playing-time split among Seattle's top three WRs. Rashid Shaheed assumed the No. 3 role in his first game with the team, just five days after arriving in trade. But he played just five fewer snaps than Jaxon Smith-Njigba and ran just three fewer routes. Cooper Kupp -- in his return from missing Week 9 with injury -- led the trio in snaps. Total pass routes went:

        • JSN -- 11
        • Kupp -- 9
        • Shaheed -- 8

Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp (hamstring, heel) is questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Cardinals. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so we’re expecting him to play. WR Tory Horton, meanwhile, is listed as doubtful after missing practice on Thursday and Friday with a shin injury. That’ll leave Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Kupp, and the newly acquired Rashid Shaheed as Seattle’s top three WRs against Arizona.

WR Rashid Shaheed was traded from the New Orleans Saints to the Seattle Seahawks at the trade deadline, adding more weapons for QB Sam Darnold. The move breathes new fantasy life into Shaheed, who was struggling to perform consistently with QBs Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough in New Orleans. Now he joins Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp as a deep threat to take the top off the defense. It is an upgrade for Shaheed and the Seahawks. The Saints receive a fourth and fifth round pick for Shaheed.
