Niners RB Jordan Mason returned from his Week 6 shoulder injury to reclaim control of the backfield in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. He played 85.7% of offensive snaps, trailing only QB Brock Purdy and TE George Kittle among skill-position 49ers. Mason also handled 14 of 15 HB carries -- FB Kyle Juszczyk had one as well -- and garnered 2 of 3 targets for the position. Mason ran 27 routes (73% share) to just 3 for Isaac Guerendo. Purdy killed Mason's fantasy line, though, by vulturing a pair of 1-yard TD plunges.
Christian McCaffrey Planned Return After Bye Week
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is on track to return on November 10th against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10. There have been no setbacks with his Achilles tendinitis and the 49ers are planning for him to return in about three weeks.
Jordan Mason Will Play Week 7
49ers RB Jordan Mason (shoulder) is not listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Chiefs. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. There’s still some risk that Mason’s workload is scaled back a bit, or that he reinjures the shoulder. And the matchup is tough against Kansas City’s top-ranked RB defense. But Mason still belongs in fantasy lineups in most cases.
Jordan Mason Limited Wednesday
49ers RB Jordan Mason (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice. HC Kyle Shanahan previously labeled Mason "day to day" with his sprained AC joint. He seems legitimately questionable for Sunday's showdown with the Chiefs. We'll keep you updated on Mason's status leading up to that one. His absence would leave rookie Isaac Guerendo as San Francisco's lead back against the league's top-ranked RB defense.
Shanahan: Jordan Mason "Day To Day" With Shoulder Injury
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan labeled RB Jordan Mason "day to day" with the sprained AC joint he suffered in his left shoulder in Thursday night's win over the Seahawks. Mason has another nine days to heal up for a Week 7 showdown with the Chiefs. It sounds like he has a good chance to be ready for that one. We'll track his status throughout next week.
