Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson suffered a left knee injury in the Cowboys Week 1 game against the Browns. It initially looked like it could be season-ending, but further testing revealed that Ferguson only sprained his MCL. This is approximately a 1-4 week recovery for Ferguson.

What They're Saying

Ian Rapaport of NFL.com: "Tests revealed an MCL sprain for Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson, which means he'll miss time. But overall good news and not season-ending."

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

It is generally good news for Ferguson who looked to suffer a pretty severe knee injury. A sprained MCL will cost him a good chunk of the season, but he should be able to return in a few weeks and continue being productive for Dallas.

He should continue being held in any fantasy league, especially if he can be stashed in an IR spot.

Other Winners and Losers

Taking Ferguson's place will be TE Luke Schoonmaker (last year's second-round pick) and undrafted rookie TE Brevyn Spann-Ford. They each played 30.16% of the Cowboys snaps in the game.

Schoonmaker is an intriguing add in deeper leagues as he is a good red zone target.

This could also boost WR Brandin Cooks, who scored a TD in Week 1, and WR Jalen Tolbert who had third most snaps among the Cowboys WRs.
