Joe Mixon OUT for Week 4

Joe Mixon Headshot

Joe Mixon will not play against the Jaguars today. He feels good, but the Texans are giving him another week off to ensure he is fully recovered from his ankle injury. RB Cam Akers will be the starter with RB Dameon Pierce also out for another week.

What They're Saying

Jordan Schultz: "Source: Texans RB Mixon will be OUT today vs the Jaguars due to his ankle injury. Mixon tested it this morning, and while he's feeling better, everyone agreed to take the safe route and give him another week."

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Mixon being out (along with RB Dameon Pierce) means that RB Cam Akers will start at RB again for the Texans.

Akers, who scored a TD last week in the Texans' loss, will be relied upon to keep the ground game moving.

Expect more passing from QB C.J. Stroud despite WR Tank Dell also being out with an injury this week.

Targets for WRs Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs could increase if the Texans move a bit more away from the ground game.

OC Bobby Slowik has shown that he wants to continue working the ground game into the gameplan, but there will be limits this week.
