Tyjae Spears beat Tony Pollard in carries, receptions, total yards, and fantasy scoring in Sunday's loss to the Colts. The biggest differentiator was Spears claiming both of the team's rushing scores, which came late in the third quarter and late in the fourth.
Indy reached halftime with a 24-7 lead and then scored the first two TDs of the second half. That game script undoubtedly helped Spears' snap share.
Spears carried three times to Pollard's six in the first half and didn't draw any targets before the break. He then won the second half 7-2 in carries and 4-2 in targets.
Spears led Pollard in pass-play snaps each of the previous two games and looks like the favored back when Tennessee's trailing.
Add in the ankle injury that Pollard's been nursing for multiple weeks, and it's no shock that Spears led the way in garbage time Sunday.
It's also worth noting that he managed just 27 rushing yards on his 10 carries (2.7 per rush to Pollard's 4.4).
A Week 17 rematch with Jacksonville shouldn't find the Titans falling behind the way they have the past two weeks.
When they lost 10-6 to the Jaguars in Week 14, Pollard logged 21 carries and 2 targets to Spears' 6 carries and 2 targets.
