Perfect Draft: 14-Team Non-PPR (Updated Aug. 31)
Get the Perfect Game Plan For Your Fantasy Football Draft
You should enter every fantasy draft with a game plan.
How can you devise the best one?
Start with a set of accurate rankings. Then, mix in ADP to help find league-winning players throughout your draft.
14-Team Non-PPR Game Plan
The round-by-round game plan below will take you through every pick of a 14-team non-PPR draft. We'll hit on players to target, and strategy points to keep in mind.
Now, we understand not all 14-team non-PPR drafts are the same.
For this exercise, we're assuming 16-round drafts and starting lineups with:
1 QB
2 RBs
2 WRs
1 TE
1 FLEX
1 K
1 DST
If your setup differs, simply head to the Draft War Room to get a customized cheat sheet.
14-Team Non-PPR Perfect Draft For Picks 1-4
Round 1
QB:
RB: Nick Chubb, Derrick Henry
WR: Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, Tyreek Hill
TE:
Henry jumps up to RB2 in non-PPR, but the gap is slim. He trails Nick Chubb in DMVP points, 83.0 to 82.2.
The WRs will pop as your top-3 overall targets, though. Jefferson leads the group, 5.0 DMVP points ahead of Chase.
Rounds 2 & 3
QB: Josh Allen
RB: Joe Mixon
WR: Tee Higgins, Deebo Samuel, Calvin Ridley, D.K. Metcalf
TE:
Allen sits in his own tier. We forecast 416 fantasy points, well ahead of QB2 Patrick Mahomes (385).
Of course, we'll find QB values in later rounds. So Allen's far from a must-grab even if his value gets a boost in non-PPR.
We're liking Mixon at cost. Even if he loses some passing-down work, that isn't very impactful in a non-PPR format. The veteran rusher is surrounded by an excellent cast and faces little competition for carries.
Rounds 4 & 5
QB: Justin Herbert
RB: J.K. Dobbins, Cam Akers, David Montgomery, Dameon Pierce, Alexander Mattison
WR: Mike Williams, Christian Watson
TE: Darren Waller, Kyle Pitts, Dallas Goedert
We're loving the upside on Herbert, who should benefit from new OC Kellen Moore's more aggressive attack. Investing in an early-round QB also means you don't have to chase a second later on.
We didn't see Dobbins this preseason, and that's fine. He'll be ready for Week 1, and we love his upside in a revamped Baltimore offense. Dobbins' receiving work might even increase under OC Todd Monken.
Rounds 6 & 7
QB:
RB: James Cook, Alvin Kamara, Brian Robinson, Khalil Herbert, Raheem Mostert
WR: Tyler Lockett, Mike Evans, Christian Kirk
TE:
Kamara will miss three games on suspension. When he returns, though, don't be surprised if he rebounds from a down 2022.
Lockett remains undervalued entering prime fantasy draft season. His volume only solidified following Jaxon Smith-Njigba's wrist injury.
TIP
See our complete fantasy WR rankings across formats.
Rounds 8 & 9
QB: Geno Smith, Daniel Jones
RB: Khalil Herbert, Rashaad Penny, Samaje Perine
WR: Jordan Addison, Elijah Moore, Zay Flowers, Courtland Sutton
TE: David Njoku
By this time, you could have a roster that looks something like this:
Tyreek Hill
Tee Higgins
Joe Mixon
Justin Herbert
Mike Williams
Alvin Kamara
Elijah Moore
Njoku would slide nicely into such a lineup. He projects as close to an every-week fantasy starter -- especially if we get expected improvement from Deshaun Watson.
Rounds 10 & 11
QB: Anthony Richardson
RB: Jaylen Warren, Tank Bigsby, Zeke Elliott
WR: Allen Lazard, Nico Collins, Skyy Moore, Zay Jones, Tyler Boyd
TE: Tyler Higbee, Hayden Hurst
Early in draft season, it wasn't clear whether Richardson would draw the Week 1 start.
Now, he'll start the opener vs. Jacksonville. He gets Houston in week 2, supplying a decent opening stretch.
We're selling Richardson as a weekly fantasy option this year. But he should find his place as a matchup option.
Rounds 12 & 13
QB: Kenny Pickett, Kyler Murray, Bryce Young, Sam Howell, Jordan Love
RB: Gus Edwards, Zamir White, Tyjae Spears, Jerome Ford
WR: Isaiah Hodgins, Marvin Mims, Jonathan Mingo, Darius Slayton, Alec Pierce, Chase Claypool, John Metchie
TE: Hayden Hurst
Fill in your roster where you're thin.
Murray pops as an upside stash, but his return timetable remains unknown.
Elsewhere, White, Spears, Mims, and Mingo stick out as upside picks.
TIP
Prioritizing upside in the later rounds is a key tenet of our fantasy football draft strategy. Your Draft War Room will flip to Upside Mode later in drafts to highlight high-ceiling players.
Rounds 14, 15 & 16
QB:
RB: Evan Hull, Jordan Mason, Josh Kelley
WR: Mecole Hardman, Alec Pierce, Chase Claypool, John Metchie
TE:
Target one more upside flyer and then use your last two picks on a kicker and DST.

14-Team Non-PPR Perfect Draft For Picks 5-10
Round 1
QB:
RB: Nick Chubb, Derrick Henry, Bijan Robinson, Saquon Barkley
WR: Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs
TE: Travis Kelce
Ja'Marr Chase is the easy pick if he falls (hey, it's the perfect draft). Just don't bank on it...
Most likely, you're looking at one of the top-2 RBs. Behind them (per DMVP): Robinson and Barkley.
Round 2
QB: Josh Allen
RB:
WR: A.J. Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Garrett Wilson
TE:
The WRs look strong here, especially if you started with a RB. Brown sits 12 DMVP points ahead of St. Brown; 15.1 ahead of Wilson.
Rhamondre Stevenson and Breece Hall used to show up here. But they're no longer Round 2 targets following the signings of Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cook.
TIP
We explored Wilson's huge ceiling in our piece on AFC East Wide Receivers.
Round 3
QB: Lamar Jackson
RB: Joe Mixon
WR: Deebo Samuel, Calvin Ridley, D.K. Metcalf, Amari Cooper
TE:
QBs get a boost in the non-PPR format, and Jackson with fresh receiving talent and an anticipated OC upgrade could easily pay off here. He currently sits QB4 in our updated QB rankings.
Mixon projects as a useful RB2 once again. The Bengals haven't added a legit RB2 following the departure of Samaje Perine, so it's easy to see why current projections have Mixon for nearly 19 touches per game.
Deebo jumps way up from WR18 in PPR to WR12 in non-PPR. We're buying a rebound season, provided we don't see a dip in play from QB Brock Purdy.
Round 4
QB: Justin Herbert
RB: J.K. Dobbins, David Montgomery, Dameon Pierce, Alexander Mattison, Miles Sanders, Breece Hall, Javonte Williams
WR: Mike Williams, Christian Watson
TE: Kyle Pitts
J.K. Dobbins is back at Ravens practice. We expect him to be active (and healthy) come Week 1, so we're happy to buy him in this range.
This round is rich with RB depth elsewhere. Montgomery stands out as a candidate for 10+ TDs. And Williams, despite tearing multiple knee ligaments last fall, is on track for the opener.
Round 5
QB: Trevor Lawrence
RB: Rachaad White, James Conner, James Cook, Alvin Kamara
WR: Tyler Lockett, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Christian Kirk
TE: Darren Waller, Dallas Goedert
Only two non-PPR points separate Evans and Godwin. But they lag behind Lockett, who's a tier above both at WR22.
At 30, we saw no signs of decline in 2022. He's an excellent fit for Geno Smith's downfield arm.
White derives a ton of value from his pass-catching. But our Breakout Pick should see a major boost in carries given Tampa Bay's depth chart.
We're also buying a resurgence from Waller. Now healthy, he's been among the star performers at Giants camp.
We're less likely to invest in an early-round QB and an early-round TE. But your draft strategy should ultimately focus on value above all else.
Round 6
QB:
RB: Isiah Pacheco, James Cook, Alvin Kamara
WR: Tyler Lockett, Mike Evans, Jahan Dotson
TE:
By this point, your roster could look something like this:
Bijan Robinson
Garrett Wilson
Lamar Jackson
J.K. Dobbins
Rachaad White
If Lockett lingers into the 6th, he's an excellent pick. Evans or Dotson fit for WR-needy teams.
Round 7
QB:
RB: Brian Robinson, Khalil Herbert, A.J. Dillon, Raheem Mostert, Antonio Gibson
WR: Gabe Davis, Treylon Burks, Quentin Johnston, Zay Flowers, Courtland Sutton
TE: David Njoku
We're not loving the RBs here. Ideally, you're not banking on them as every-week RB2s.
The WRs, though, supply intrigue. Davis, now over a 2022 high-ankle sprain, looks like a post-hype sleeper in a contract year. We're still in on Burks after the Deandre Hopkins signing. And he should come at a discounted price following a recent knee sprain.
Meanwhile, Sutton's play at Broncos camp says he's got a chance to jump back into WR3 range.
Round 8
QB: Geno Smith
RB: Damien Harris, Rashaad Penny, Samaje Perine
WR: Elijah Moore, Quentin Johnston, Zay Flowers
TE: David Njoku
Moore entered the discussion for our 2023 Breakout Pick. We loved his rookie-year flashes, and after a lost 2022 with the Jets, we're anticipating a much more productive '23 with Deshaun Watson.
Johnston and Flowers have been training camp standouts. We're thrilled to land him as WR4s.
Njoku probably doesn't last this long. If he does, it's a fine price to pay for a weekly TE1.
Round 9
QB: Geno Smith, Daniel Jones
RB: Jaylen Warren
WR: Allen Lazard, Nico Collins, Skyy Moore, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Zay Jones
TE:
Smith finished QB7 in PPG last year, then saw his team add Round 1 WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. (JSN is coming off a fractured wrist, but he shouldn't miss much time in-season.) We're buyers at his QB15 ADP on Underdog Fantasy.
Collins made our list of fantasy football sleepers.
Round 10
QB: Anthony Richardson
RB: Jaylen Warren, Kenneth Gainwell, Tank Bigsby, Ezekiel Elliott
WR: Allen Lazard, Zay Jones, Tyler Boyd
TE: Tyler Higbee
Around the midway part of your draft, the Draft War Room will switch to Upside Mode. This will push up players with high ceilings -- just the archetypes you want for your bench.
We're digging the handcuff + value on Warren and Bigsby, who've both garnered plenty of camp hype.
Boyd doesn't have upside in the traditional sense. But he's one Ja'Marr Chase or Tee Higgins injury away from weekly-starter value.
Round 11
QB:
RB: Gus Edwards, Tyjae Spears, Zamir White
WR: Michael Gallup, Jonathan Mingo, Marvin Mims
TE: Tyler Higbee
By this time, you likely have 1 QB, 3-5 RBs, 3-5 WRs, and 1 TE.
Fill in where you're thin, passing on a QB2 if you landed one of our top-8 passers.
Round 12
QB: Kenny Pickett, Bryce Young
RB: Gus Edwards, Tyjae Spears, Jerome Ford
WR: Darius Slayton, Michael Gallup, Van Jefferson, Adam Thielen, Isaiah Hodgins
TE: Hayden Hurst, Hunter Henry
We're looking at more handcuff types here, with Spears really jumping off the page. We loved his Tulane tape. And by all indications, he's the clear RB2 behind 29-year-old Derrick Henry.
Round 13
QB: Kyler Murray, Bryce Young, Jordan Love
RB: Chase Brown, Kareem Hunt, Leonard Fournette
WR: Darius Slayton, Van Jefferson, Jayden Reed, Mecole Hardman, DeVante Parker, Alec Pierce
TE:
Even if you drafted a top-10 TE, rostering a backup is OK. There's access to a decent-sized scoring ceiling on each of the three TEs above.
Rounds 14, 15 & 16
QB:
RB: Jordan Mason, Josh Kelley
WR: Mecole Hardman, Chase Claypool, John Metchie
TE: Jelani Woods, Noah Fant
Target one more upside flyer and then use your last two picks on a kicker and DST.

14-Team Non-PPR Perfect Draft For Picks 11-14
Rounds 1 & 2
QB:
RB: Nick Chubb, Derrick Henry, Bijan Robinson, Saquon Barkley
WR: Stefon Diggs, Ceedee Lamb, A.J. Brown, Davante Adams, Amon-Ra St. Brown
TE: Travis Kelce
We're not going into Round 1 locked into any draft position. Take value as it falls, whether it's at RB, WR, or TE.
Rounds 3 & 4
QB: Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert
RB: J.K. Dobbins, David Montgomery, Dameon Pierce, Alexander Mattison, Miles Sanders
WR: Mike Williams, Amari Cooper, Christian Watson
TE:
Mixon might make it back for Round 3. He's a strong pick there if he does. If not, we're holding firm to Dobbins as a worthy RB2. He's expected to be at full health for Week 1.
WR is loaded with WR2-types. Watson made it as our Honorable Mention Breakout Pick.
Rounds 5 & 6
QB: Trevor Lawrence
RB: Javonte Williams, Rachaad White, James Conner, Isiah Pacheco, James Cook, Alvin Kamara
WR: Tyler Lockett, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Christian Kirk
TE: Darren Waller, Dallas Goedert
Lawrence is set up for a massive third season. Whether its Year 2 in HC Doug Pederson's system, the addition of Calvin Ridley, or simply Lawrence's raw talent, were buying the complete package here.
The RBs stand out, too. Williams is a bit of a stretch to make it here especially as more positive news on his knee rolls in. Still, each RB is fairly practice at this point in drafts.
Rounds 7 & 8
QB:
RB: Brian Robinson, Khalil Herbert, Damien Harris, Raheem Mostert, Antonio Gibson, Samaje Perine
WR: Gabe Davis, Treylon Burks, Jahan Dotson, Elijah Moore, Quentin Johnston, Zay Flowers
TE: David Njoku
Keep an eye on the teams around the 7-8 turn and see if you can gauge which position they might attack. If you're seeking a TE but notice the teams at 13/14 already have one, there's a good chance you'll get your guy in the 8th.
Njoku really fits in either round. He's enjoyed a solid camp by all accounts. And he should benefit from a full offseason alongside Deshaun Watson.
Rounds 9 & 10
QB: Anthony Richardson
RB: Jaylen Warren, Kenneth Gainwell, Tank Bigsby, Zeke Elliott
WR: Allen Lazard, Nico Collins, Skyy Moore, Zay Jones, Tyler Boyd
TE: Tyler Higbee
Richardon's ADP will only rise from here. Most sources have him as the Week 1 favorite, although that could change based on preseason play.
We're forecasting spot-start QB1 value for the rookie, whose rushing could make him a significant asset. (NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah left Colts camp expecting Indy to really lean into Richardson's legs. )
At RB, we're starring Warren and Bigsby on cheat sheets. They profile as handcuffs with the potential for standalone value. Collins and Moore stick out as locked-in starters who've turned heads this summer.
Ultimately, it's ok if you choose to handcuff Travis Etienne or Najee Harris in a non-best ball draft. But we don't enter any draft thinking we must secure any RB2.
Rounds 11 & 12
QB: Kenny Pickett, Bryce Young, Jordan Love
RB: Gus Edwards, Zamir White, Tyjae Spears, Jerome Ford
WR: Michael Gallup, Jonathan Mingo, Marvin Mims, Isaiah Hodgins
TE: Hayden Hurst, Sam LaPorta, Irv Smith
Fill in where you're thin, and continue shooting for upside when possible.
Pass on any of the QBs above if you landed a top-8 option. If you went cheaper at the position, its worth adding another young passer with weekly upside.
Rounds 13, 14, 15 & 16
Target more upside fliers and then use your last two picks on a kicker and DST.
