Niners WR Ricky Pearsall managed just 1 catch for no yards among three targets in his return Sunday from a seven-week absence for a knee injury. But the outing was more encouraging than that would suggest.
What They're Saying
HC Kyle Shanahan ahead of the game: "The way Ricky was playing before he got hurt, I mean, he was playing like a true No. 1 receiver in this league. Really playing like the guy that we wanted to draft. He had an unbelievable offseason, unbelievable start to this season. ... So it's huge to get him back for the talent of the guy, and excited he's coming back with Brock Purdy, too."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
It's not a shock that we got a quiet stat line from Pearsall in his first game back, especially with the 49ers spreading around just 26 pass attempts for the game.
George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and Jauan Jennings tied for the team lead with six targets apiece. Pearsall's three checked in next.
But the positive from Sunday: Pearsall matched Jennings for the snap lead among 49ers WRs at 41 (74.5% of the team's total). His 23 pass routes also trailed Jennings' and Kittle's shared team lead by just one.
Pearsall now gets a Carolina matchup that has remained negative for WR scoring, and then a less-negative (but still negative) spot against Cleveland.
After the Week 14 bye, though, San Francisco gets the sixth-best WR strength of schedule over the final three weeks of most fantasy seasons.
