49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee in the Week 7 loss to the Chiefs, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "There may be other damage," Rapoport adds. Aiyuk will miss the rest of the 2024 season. And any "other damage" to his knee could impact his availability for the start of the 2025 campaign. We'll keep you updated on Aiyuk's diagnosis and timeline for return.
Ricky Pearsall Leads Routes in Debut
Niners rookie WR Ricky Pearsall made his NFL debut Sunday against the Chiefs and wound up leading the team in routes. Pearsall ran a route on 86.5% of QB Brock Purdy's dropbacks. That probably wasn't the plan going in, but San Francisco watched WR Deebo Samuel leave with an illness after just four plays and lost WR Brandon Aiyuk to a likely ACL tear in the second quarter.
Jauan Jennings Out For Week 7
49ers WR Jauan Jennings (hip) missed practice all week and is out for Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs. HC Kyle Shanahan said Friday that WR Ricky Pearsall will make his debut this weekend, but we can't imagine he'll play a big role after missing most of training camp and then getting shot in late August. Jennings' absence is a slight boost to WR Deebo Samuel, WR Brandon Aiyuk, and TE George Kittle.
Ricky Pearsall Back At Practice
49ers WR Ricky Pearsall returned to practice on Monday, 44 days after being shot in an attempted robbery. The Niners have 21 days to move Pearsall onto the active roster or place him on season-ending IR. San Francisco has a Week 9 bye, so Week 10 might be Pearsall's most likely debut. He'd probably need injuries to two of Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, and George Kittle to be a real fantasy factor this season. The rookie can be left on the waiver wire in most redraft leagues.
Deebo Samuel Out "A Couple Of Weeks" With Calf Injury
49ers WR Deebo Samuel will miss "a couple of weeks" with a calf injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Vikings, HC Kyle Shanahan said.
