Alvin Kamara sprained his right MCL early in the Saints' Week 12 loss to Atlanta. After Kamar departed the game, Devin Neal played 57 of the team's final 66 snaps and was the only RB to receive a carry or target. Neal didn't find a lot of running room, rushing for just 18 yards on his 7 attempts, but he did catch 5-of-7 targets for 43 yards.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Kamara has already been diagnosed with a sprained MCL, which could sideline him for multiple games. In 2021, the same injury cost Kamara 4 games. He also missed 2 games in 2019 with a sprained PCL.
A 2-game absence seems like a reasonable exception for Kamara, which sets up Neal to act as the Saints' main RB.
In limited action this season, Neal has posted similar numbers to Kamara. Both backs are averaging 3.6 yards per carry, while Kamara is averaging .3 yards per catch more than Neal.
If Kamara misses time, as expected, Neal would be in a position to command enough volume to be on the RB2/3 radar. The Saints' schedule ranks as the eighth-easiest for RBs in Weeks 13-15:
• Week 13 at Miami
• Week 14 at Tampa Bay
• Week 15 vs. Carolina
Waiver Wire Targets
Neal will be a priority on the Week 13 waiver wire.
Audric Estime is also on the roster but was a healthy scratch in Week 12. He's well off the fantasy radar.
QB Taysom Hill, who led the Saints with 10 carries and was 0-for-2 as a passer, will also be involved and makes sense as a desperation add in Superflex formats.
