Sam LaPorta Out At Least Four Games

        9:09pm UTC 11/15/25

The Lions placed TE Sam LaPorta on IR with his back injury. He's out through at least through Week 14, and it's unclear if he'll be ready to return when first eligible in Week 15. We still don't have any details on this back injury. LaPorta is worth trying to hang on to in fantasy leagues, but he's not a must-hold if you need the roster space. TE Brock Wright is next up on Detroit's depth chart but owns just 65 catches in 67 career games. TE Ross Dwelley -- 45 catches in 108 games -- is also on the active roster. TEs Anthony Firkser and Zach Horton are on the practice squad. We wouldn't bother with any of these guys in fantasy right now. Expect most of LaPorta's targets to be spread to WRs Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams and RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

Sam LaPorta Out For Week 11

        9:00pm UTC 11/14/25

Lions TE Sam LaPorta (back) is out for Sunday night’s game vs. the Eagles. We don’t have any details on his injury, but LaPorta didn’t practice all week and could miss further time. TE Brock Wright is the next man up for Detroit but will not have anywhere near as big a role in the passing game as LaPorta. Expect more targets to be pushed to WRs Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams and RB Jahmyr Gibbs.

Update: Wright (ankle) is listed as questionable after getting in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Avoid Lions TEs in Week 11 fantasy lineups.

Lions Receivers Come Through Thanks to 37 Pass Attempts

        4:46am UTC 11/3/25

Lions QB Jared Goff’s 37 pass attempts were the second most by the team this season, only surpassed by 39 in Week 1. Both games accounted for two of the Lions’ three losses. The volume was enough to support WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (9-97-0 on 13 targets) and TE Sam LaPorta (6-97-1 on 8 targets). It also creates a bounce-back game for WR Jameson Williams with a 4-66-1 stat line on 6 targets.

This 2-Catch Game a Little Different for Jameson Williams

        3:38am UTC 9/29/25

Lions WR Jameson Williams managed just 2 receptions for 40 yards in Sunday's win over the Browns. That marked the third straight game in which Williams caught just two passes. And the game before produced a 4-23 receiving line. But Williams drew a season-high eight targets against Cleveland. That led the team for the first time this year and accounted for 29.6% of Jared Goff's total pass attempts. Amon-Ra St. Brown led the team in the rest of the receiving categories, posting a 7-70-2 receiving line on seven targets. Kalif Raymond drew the only other three WR targets, catching two for 13 yards. Isaac TeSlaa ran a third as many routes and drew no targets.

        • 39.3% of targets
        • 39.1% of receptions
        • 34.4% of receiving yards

Amon-Ra St. Brown Took a Backseat While Detroit Struggled

        5:35am UTC 9/8/25

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown disappointed, catching four of six targets for 45 yards. He didn’t even lead the WRs in snaps, with Jameson Williams logging 65 to St. Brown’s 63. Detroit’s offensive struggles against the Packers led to disappointing results across the board.

The Detroit Lions have come to terms with WR Jameson Williams on a 3-year deal worth up to $83 million. Williams was entering the fourth year of his rookie deal, but earned an extension after posting his first 1000-yard campaign in 2024. The Lions now have both Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown locked up through the 2028 season.

Johnny Morton Takes Over Lions Offense

        8:41am UTC 1/29/25

The Lions named John Morton their new OC. He'll replace Ben Johnson, who took the Bears HC job after leading Detroit to three straight top-five finishes in both points and total yards. Morton was a senior offensive assistant for Johnson's first Lions squad in 2022 before spending the last two years as Broncos passing game coordinator. His only previous OC experience came at USC in 2009 and 2010 and with the Jets in 2017. That Jets team -- quarterbacked by Josh McCown and Bryce Petty -- ranked 28th in total yards and 24th in points. We won't hold that against Morton. He'll now be working with one of the most loaded offenses in the league, although it's fair to expect some dropoff in play-calling from Johnson to Morton.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Draws Huge Shares on Big Passing Day

Tim Patrick Scores Twice vs. Green Bay

        10:32am UTC 12/6/24

Lions WR Tim Patrick saw a season-high 18% target share in Thursday’s win over Green Bay. That turned into a surprising 6-43-2 line, with both of his TDs coming in goal line situations. The veteran even out-targeted Amon-Ra St. Brown by one. Now, Thursday turned up Patrick’s first TDs of the season. But it’s clear he’s ticketed for a larger role with Kalif Raymond (foot) set to miss at least a couple more weeks. Week 15 turns up a tough matchup vs. Buffalo, followed by another formidable secondary in Chicago. Patrick remains a shaky deep-league bet.
