Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Vikings. He got in just 2 limited practices this week and was listed as questionable. But HC Dan Campbell said Wednesday that Swift's ankle was "feeling much better." And NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported this morning that Swift is expected to play a "bigger role" today than he did when he was limited to 7 touches last week.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero confirms that Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle) will play vs. the Vikings today. Pelissero adds that Swift is expected to play a "bigger role" in that one after being limited to just 7 touches in Week 2. He belongs in fantasy lineups as a RB1 with upside in today's plus matchup.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Vikings. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday. HC Dan Campbell said Wednesday that Swift's ankle was "feeling much better." We're fully expecting Swift to play on Sunday -- and for him to get much closer to a full workload than he did in Week 2.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. He'll play vs. the Vikings this weekend. The question is if he'll be ready for something closer to a full workload than he got last week. We'll see what Swift does in Friday's practice and how he's listed on the final injury report.

Lions HC Dan Campbell said Wednesday that RB D'Andre Swift's ankle is "feeling much better" this week than last. Swift won't practice on Wednesday, so he's clearly still not at 100%. But we're tentatively expecting something much closer to a full workload in this weekend's game vs. the Vikings.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift got just 7 touches in Sunday's game, after arriving questionable with an ankle issue. Fortunately -- for those who started him -- Swift used a 50-yard scamper to run up 56 ground yards on just 5 carries. He added a 22-yard TD off a screen pass, 1 of just 2 receptions (for 31 yards) among 5 targets. Swift played just 10 more snaps than Jamaal Williams, according to Pro Football Focus, a smaller gap than Week 1. Williams led the team with 12 carries. RB Craig Reynolds also played 9 snaps after seeing no Week 1 action. We'll see about the status of Swift's ankle for Week 3.

Lions RB D’Andre Swift (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Commanders. He played through this injury last week but only got in a limited practice on Friday this week. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said this morning that the Lions “may have to be selective about his usage” today. See where Swift sits in the Week 2 RB Rankings.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Commanders today. "But the team may have to be selective about his usage," Rapoport adds. Swift only got in a limited practice this week and is listed as questionable. But it's worth noting that he reportedly suffered this ankle injury in the 2nd quarter of last week's game. He was able to play, and play well, the rest of the way. Swift obviously carries more risk than usual this week, but we'd lean toward keeping him in starting lineups. RB Jamaal Williams will pick up more work if Swift is limited today.

Lions RB D’Andre Swift (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Commanders. He only got in a limited practice on Friday, but Swift reportedly played through this injury last week and is expected to play on Sunday. The ankle adds at least a little downside, though. Detroit will also be without C Frank Ragnow (groin, foot) and RG Halapoulivaati Vaitai (back), while LG Jonah Jackson (finger) is listed as questionable after missing practice on Thursday and Friday.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. Reports on his availability for this weekend's game vs. the Commanders remain positive, but we'll see what he's able to do Friday and how he's listed on the final injury report. RB Jamaal Williams would turn into a strong fantasy play if Swift misses Sunday's game.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift expressed no concern about his ankle injury, despite missing practice on Wednesday. Swift said he rolled his ankle in the 2nd quarter of the loss to the Eagles, per the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett, but said, "not at all" when asked if he's concerned about it going forward. It's worth noting that the Lions promoted RB Justin Jackson from the practice squad, which might suggest at least some concern about Swift's availability. We'll see if he's able to practice on Thursday.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury. He didn't appear limited at all during Sunday's loss to the Eagles. We'll see about the severity of the ailment. Jamaal Williams would be in for a big workload boost if Swift misses time.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift ran well in Sunday's loss to the Eagles, racking up 144 yards and a TD among 15 carries. A 50-yard, 1st-quarter scamper certainly helped, but Swift also averaged 6.7 yards across his other 14 attempts behind an O-line that looked strong. RB Jamaal Williams stepped in for 11 carries that turned into just 28 yards, but he also siphoned 2 short-yardage scores. That figures to be at least a mild issue for Swift all season. But he more than doubled Williams in playing time Sunday (47 snaps to 23) and more than doubled him in pass routes (26-11), despite just a 3-2 target edge. So rather than lamenting the missed 2 TDs if you're a Swift drafter, you should be happy about the 2nd-round fantasy pick's outlook. Williams, meanwhile, should be on a roster in any league of 12+ teams and makes plenty of sense as a reserve in many 10-team leagues. He'll have trouble delivering standalone value but has a short trip to relevance if Swift goes down.

Lions HC Dan Campbell comped RB D’Andre Swift to Alvin Kamara. “It goes without saying, Swift is one of our most explosive players on offense,” Campbell said. “Like, literally, we feel like, ‘All right, man, if we set this up right and there’s any space, this guy can take it to the house.’ He’s got that ability, and so — my gosh, man — you want those guys out there every play.” Swift has missed 7 games over the past 2 seasons, but there’s top-5 PPR upside here if his health cooperates.

The Lions are hoping to get RB D’Andre Swift to play through the pain more in 2022. Note that the talented RB has played 13 games in back to back seasons. “Injuries happen, but one of the things Swift and I had a conversation about -- is you’ve got to be able to play through some of these injuries as a running back,” RB coach (and former pro) Duce Staley said recently. “We all know there’s a difference between being injured and hurt. As soon as you step in this building as a running back, Day 1 training camp, you’re not going to feel the same. There will be some things you have to fight through.” Per beat writer Kyle Meinke, Swift bulked up a bit over the offseason. Only 23, Swift’s consistency should improve in a revamped Detroit offense.

The Lions want to see RB D’Andre Swift improve as a pass catcher. “When you got a dynamic running back like Swift, who can also hurt you in the passing game, you got to get better as a pass receiver,” RB coach Duce Staley said. “So, what does that mean? You gotta learn coverages. Coverages are No. 1. You got to understand what they’re trying to do to you, no matter if you’re coming out of the backfield or you’re spread out in empty. That’s one of the things I can be better at teaching him. He’s been learning. He understands. I just got to find more ways to continue to hammer the point home.” Swift caught 62 balls in 2021 after snagging 46 as a rookie. His yards per catch dipped this past year to a pedestrian 7.3, though. The 23-year-old profiles as a Round 2 pick in early 2022 fantasy football drafts.

Lions QB Jared Goff (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Packers. That’s good news for WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and RB D’Andre Swift.

3:03pm EST 1/2/22

Lions QB Jared Goff (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Seahawks. QB Tim Boyle will make his 3rd start of the season. He was decent enough last week to trust WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and RB D’Andre Swift in Week 17 fantasy lineups.

Lions RB D’Andre Swift (shoulder) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Seahawks. HC Dan Campbell said they’ll “cut him loose.” There’s still some added risk with Swift in his first game since Week 12, but there’s also RB1 upside.
