Trey Benson Designated To Return From IR

        4:58pm UTC 11/19/25

Cardinals RB Trey Benson (knee) has been designated to return from IR. That means he'll practice this week, although it's still unclear if Benson will play vs. the Jaguars this weekend. HC Johnathan Gannon said Wednesday that Benson will be evaluated "day by day" this week. We'll keep you updated on his status. Benson should take over as Arizona's lead back once he's cleared to play. RB Emari Demercado (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 12.

        Emari Demercado Has High-Ankle Sprain

        3:22pm UTC 11/18/25

Cardinals RB Emari Demercado suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Week 11 loss to the 49ers and will "likely" miss Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Demercado will probably miss more time beyond that and can be dropped from fantasy rosters. RB Michael Carter stepped into Demercado's change-of-pace, pass-catching role vs. San Francisco last week, with RB Zonovan Knight handling most of the early-down work. Expect to see that arrangement against Jacksonville, assuming RB Trey Benson remains out.

        Bam Knight Active

        7:36pm UTC 11/16/25

Cardinals RB Bam Knight (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the 49ers. We’re expecting him to lead the backfield in carries, but RB Emari Demercado is a threat to steal work. Avoid this backfield in fantasy lineups if possible.

Bam Knight Expected To Play Week 11

        1:01pm UTC 11/16/25

Cardinals RB Bam Knight (ankle) is expected to play vs. the 49ers today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Knight got in three limited practices this week. We're projecting him to lead Arizona in carries today, but this has been a difficult backfield to peg since RBs James Conner and Trey Benson went down.

Bam Knight Questionable For Week 11

        1:46am UTC 11/15/25

Cardinals RB Bam Knight (ankle) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the 49ers. We’re tentatively expecting Knight to play but will look for updates on his status. Knight remained ahead of Emari Demercado as Arizona’s lead back before going down last week.

        Bam Knight Limited Wednesday

        3:01am UTC 11/13/25

Cardinals RB Bam Knight (ankle) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. He was operating as Arizona's lead back before exiting last week's game, but he mustered just 28 yards on 10 carries. This remains a backfield to try to avoid until RB Trey Benson returns.

        Arizona Backfield Remains Muddled

        5:28pm UTC 11/10/25

RB Emari Demercado led the Cardinals in rushing yards for the second straight week in Sunday's loss to Seattle. But nearly all of his ground production came on a single 55-yard run early in the fourth quarter of the blowout defeat. Demercado logged just four total carries, trailing Bam Knight's team lead (10) and leading Michael Carter by just one. WR Greg Dortch scored the team's only rushing TD, from 4 yards out in the second quarter.

        12:02am UTC 11/10/25

Cardinals RB Bam Knight suffered an ankle injury in the second half of Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks and is questionable to return. His absence leaves the backfield to Emari Demercado and Michael Carter.

        Cardinals Dump Michael Carter

        10:14pm UTC 10/27/25

The Cardinals released RB Michael Carter. He led the backfield just a few weeks ago but fell behind RB Bam Knight in Arizona's last two games. Carter's departure leaves Knight and Emari Demercado as the only healthy RBs on the Cardinals' active roster. We'll see if the team makes another move this week, but Knight now projects to control carries in a plus matchup vs. the Cowboys next Monday night. RB Trey Benson is eligible to return for Week 10.

Emari Demercado Out For Week 7

        5:38pm UTC 10/17/25

Cardinals RB Emari Demercado (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Packers. That should mean some extra passing-down snaps for RB Michael Carter, who sits slightly ahead of RB Bam Knight in our Week 7 PPR rankings.

Bam Knight Starts, Scores For Cardinals

        9:52pm UTC 10/12/25

In a surprising move, Jonathan Gannon announced before Arizona's Week 6 game in Indianapolis that Zonovan Knight, who was listed as third on the depth chart and was just activated from the practice squad in Week 5, would draw the backfield start for the Cardinals. The move paid off, as Knight led the team in rushing and scored a 1-yard TD in the first quarter in Arizona's 31-27 loss.

Michael Carter Owns Post-Trey Benson Backfield ... But Does He Deserve It?

        3:50pm UTC 10/6/25

Michael Carter led the Cardinals backfield Sunday in the first game since RB Trey Benson went down with a knee injury. Carter handled 18 of the 25 RB rushes in the Week 5 loss to the Titans. He also drew five of the team's six RB targets, tying Marvin Harrison Jr. for second on the team in that category. Carter caught all five of those to match TE Trey McBride for the team reception lead. But his yardage efficiency in both phases failed to impress.

Emari Demercado Commits the Sin That Should NOT Keep Happening

        3:11pm UTC 10/6/25

Emari Demercado generated the most rushing yards Sunday in a Cardinals backfield spreading the work around after losing both James Conner and Trey Benson to knee injuries. But Demercado overshadowed the work split and his performance and effectively lost his team the game by voluntarily dropping the ball before he crossed the goal line on what should have been a long fourth-quarter TD run.
