Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Chargers WRs Keenan Allen (heel) and Josh Palmer (concussion) are out for Sunday’s game vs. the Broncos. That leaves Los Angeles with WRs Quentin Johnston, Jalen Guyton, Alex Erickson, and Derius Davis. None is a recommended Week 17 fantasy starter. RB Austin Ekeler and TE Gerald Everett could see more targets with Allen and Palmer out.
Chargers WR Keenan Allen (heel) did not practice on Wednesday. We'll keep tabs on his status over the next few days, but fantasy owners should not be banking on Allen playing vs. the Broncos this weekend. WR Josh Palmer (concussion) also missed Wednesday's practice and is in danger of missing Sunday's game. The Chargers could be down to WRs Quentin Johnston, Jalen Guyton, Alex Erickson, and Derius Davis.
Chargers WR Josh Palmer (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Broncos. He returned to practice this week but isn’t quite ready for game action. We’ll see if Palmer can make it back for Thursday night’s game vs. the Raiders. Quentin Johnston and Jalen Guyton will again serve as Los Angeles’ No. 2 and 3 WRs this weekend.
The Chargers are designating WR Joshua Palmer to return from IR, opening his 21-day practice window. HC Brandon Staley just last week described Palmer's situation by saying "there's still a possibility" that he'd return from IR, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper. That suggests we can't assume Palmer will be ready to return from his knee injury and play in Week 14. And it'll be tough to throw him into fantasy lineups right away, unless we get word from Chargers coaches that he's all the way back. Still, we have mentioned Palmer in our waiver wire article each of the past two weeks on this chance of return. If he does make it back to full participation, we'd bet on Palmer re-emerging as the No. 2 wideout in an offense that needs him. Stash Palmer early if you can ... if that makes sense for your roster, of course.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton (groin) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Ravens. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so Guyton likely won’t be at 100% for this one.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton (groin) is "likely" to play vs. the Ravens tonight, "barring any pre-game setbacks," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Guyton was limited in practice all week after the Packers loss. The last time we saw Guyton in Week 10, he played 79% of the Chargers' offensive snaps and ranked third on the team with six targets. Guyton figures to step back into a prominent role as long as that groin isn't an issue, but he'd be a desperation season-long fantasy play. Guyton's return is a ding to WR Quentin Johnston's fantasy value.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Ravens after a limited week of practice. Between the injury and late kickoff, Guyton shouldn’t be in your Week 12 fantasy plans.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton (groin) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. He hurt his groin last Friday and then missed the Packers game. But Guyton seemingly has a shot to return for Sunday night's game vs. the Ravens. His return would be a knock against WR Quentin Johnston -- but hopefully you weren't considering the struggling rookie anyway.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton (groin) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Packers. That leaves WRs Derius Davis and Simi Fehoko behind top two WRs Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston. Davis and Fehoko aren’t bankable fantasy plays. Los Angeles’ offense should be even more concentrated today, with Allen and RB Austin Ekeler running the show.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton (groin) will not play vs. the Packers today, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Guyton hurt his groin in Friday's practice and might be out beyond Week 11. He had emerged as a full-time player with WRs Mike Williams and Josh Palmer out, playing 79% of the Chargers' offensive snaps and drawing six targets last week. Guyton's absence today leaves WRs Derius Davis and Simi Fehoko behind top two WRs Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston. Neither Davis nor Fehoko is a realistic fantasy play. It's another big opportunity for Johnston today.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton (groin) is questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Packers. He was added to the injury report on Friday and limited in practice. Guyton played 79% of the Chargers’ offensive snaps and saw six targets last week. His loss would be significant – and likely leave rookie Derius Davis as the No. 3 WR.
The Chargers have placed WR Josh Palmer (knee) on IR. He’ll miss at least the next four games, giving rookie Quentin Johnston a chance to cement a permanent role. WR Jalen Guyton was activated from the PUP list in a corresponding move. He can be left on waiver wires.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton suffered an ACL tear in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars, according to multiple reports, ending his season. Guyton played just 29 total snaps through 3 weeks, with 3 of his 4 targets coming against Jacksonville.
Chargers HC Brandon Staley singled out WR Jalen Guyton for having a "fantastic" offseason. "This guy made a lot of big plays for us in the spring," Staley said. "He came in, physically, just in great shape. He's moving great. I thought that he was able to move around. He really did a nice job on special teams." That last sentence is notable. It's possible that Guyton's biggest contribution comes on special teams this season with Josh Palmer reportedly the favorite for the #3 WR job. But we're not counting Guyton out of that race just yet. He brings speed that Palmer, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams don't possess. It'll be a situation to monitor in training camp and preseason action.
The Chargers ran Josh Palmer as their 3rd WR in Tuesday's opening practice of mandatory minicamp, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. That puts him ahead of Jalen Guyton, who spent 2021 beating the then-rookie in playing time. Guyton was also reportedly working as a punt-team gunner Tuesday for the 1st time since joining the team. That could be another signal of a lighter offensive role for Guyton. Palmer has stood well ahead of Guyton as the 3rd Chargers WR in ADP throughout draft season. He's a decent option at low-WR6 ADP -- and a good addition to Justin Herbert teams.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton has been activated from the COVID list. He'll be back for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. Guyton will only be a potential fantasy play if WR Mike Williams remains on the COVID list for that one.
Chargers HC Brandon Staley confirmed Monday that WR Mike Williams will miss the Week 17 game against the Broncos. That's because Williams tested positive for COVID late last week and is unvaccinated. So he's forced to stay away from the team for at least 10 days. Jalen Guyton has yet to return from the COVID list but could see an elevated role if he makes it back in time. Josh Palmer also gains prominence with Williams out.
