Rashid Shaheed Heads to the Seahawks, Getting a Major QB Upgrade

        5:55pm UTC 11/4/25

WR Rashid Shaheed was traded from the New Orleans Saints to the Seattle Seahawks at the trade deadline, adding more weapons for QB Sam Darnold. The move breathes new fantasy life into Shaheed, who was struggling to perform consistently with QBs Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough in New Orleans. Now he joins Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp as a deep threat to take the top off the defense. It is an upgrade for Shaheed and the Seahawks. The Saints receive a fourth and fifth round pick for Shaheed.

        4:26am UTC 10/6/25

Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka and Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba posted incredible stat lines in a shootout. Egbuka went 7-163-1, catching every target while JSN posted 8-132-1. The former Ohio State teammates stepped up as the top targets for each of their teams, helping keep pace.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (illness) is active for today's game vs. the Saints. He comes with a bit more risk after being added to the injury report on Saturday, but JSN would be impossible to leave out of fantasy lineups after his hot start.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Likely To Play Week 3

        12:13pm UTC 9/21/25

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (illness) is expected to play vs. the Saints, "but the team wants to see how Smith-Njigba is feeling today just to make sure." He was added to the injury report on Saturday as questionable with what Schefter hears is "a bug." Although we won't get Seattle's inactives until a little after 2:30 pm ET, Smith-Njigba can stay penciled into Week 3 fantasy lineups.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Now Questionable For Week 3

        9:05pm UTC 9/20/25

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been added to the Week 3 injury report as questionable with an illness. Players rarely sit with illnesses, but this Saturday downgrade is at least mildly concerning. We'll look for further updates on Smith-Njigba's status but won't get Seattle's inactives until a little after 2:30 pm ET on Sunday. JSN owners might want to have another late-game alternative rostered.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba on Track for ALL the Targets

        12:41pm UTC 9/8/25

If you drafted Jaxon Smith-Njigba this summer hoping to watch him Hoover up all the targets in a limited Seattle passing offense, then Week 1 delivered. JSN racked up 13 targets among just 23 Seahawks passing attempts, a whopping 56.5% share. He caught nine of them for 124 yards. That mean's Smith-Njigba accounted for 56.3% of the team's receptions and 82.7% of the receiving yards for the game. NFL Next Gen Stats also credited him with 91% of Seattle's targeted air yards. (Malik Nabers ranks second among Week 1 receivers at 74.3%.)

More Outside Snaps Bad News For Jaxon Smith-Njigba?

        1:18pm UTC 6/9/25

The Athletic’s Mike Dugar expects Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba to line up outside the numbers more often this season. JSN has run 77% of his routes from the slot through two NFL seasons. But the addition of WR Cooper Kupp, who's also a primary slot receiver, will alter Smith-Njigba's deployment this year.

Seahawks Go With Klint Kubiak As OC

        7:57am UTC 1/27/25

The Seahawks are hiring Klint Kubiak as their OC, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. It'll be Kubiak's third OC gig, following stints with the Vikings (2021) and Saints (2024). That Vikings squad finished 12th in total yards and 14th in points. The 2024 Saints got off to a hot start, scoring 91 points over the first two games of the season. But they averaged just 16.5 points per game the rest of the way, due at least in part to injuries to QB Derek Carr and the offensive line. Kubiak's Saints ranked 19th in neutral pass rate and 25th in pass rate over expected. The 2021 Vikings -- quarterbacked by Kirk Cousins -- finished 12th in neutral pass rate and 17th in pass rate over expected. The 2025 Seahawks figure to be a more balanced offense than last year's version, which ranked third in neutral pass rate and sixth in pass rate over expected.

        Seahawks Fire OC Ryan Grubb

The Seahawks fired OC Ryan Grubb. This one catches us by surprise. Seattle finished 14th in total yards and 18th in points in Grubb's lone season at the helm. He was one of the pass-heavier play callers in the league, with the Seahawks ranking seventh in pass attempts and eighth in yards. QB Geno Smith completed 70.4% of his passes at 7.5 yards per attempt, and WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba broke out for a 100-1,130-6 receiving line. We'll see who defensive-minded HC Mike Macdonald tabs as his next OC.

Geno Smith Puts In Full Practice Wednesday

        8:31pm UTC 12/18/24

Seahawks QB Geno Smith (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He's clearly on track to start this weekend's game vs. the Vikings -- and it looks like he'll be closer to 100% than we thought. Smith still isn't a recommended QB1 play (he's finished outside the top 18 QBs in fantasy points in five straight), but his availability is good news for Seattle's skill-position players.

Seahawks "Optimistic" Geno Smith Plays Week 16

        9:11am UTC 12/17/24

Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald said Monday that he's "optimistic" QB Geno Smith (knee) will be able to practice this week and play against the Vikings on Sunday. "We’re fortunate," Macdonald said. "A lot of positive, optimistic signs coming out of the test. Geno’s a beast, man — he’s in here, working out in the morning, working through it. I know he’s still feeling it, but this guy’s tough as nails." We'll track Smith's status throughout the week. QB Sam Howell would be a tangible downgrade for the passing game if forced to start.

        Geno Smith's Knee "Structurally" OK

        7:53am UTC 12/16/24

Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald said after Sunday night's loss to the Packers that QB Geno Smith's right knee is "structurally" ok. "(It was) severe enough for him not to come back in the game," Macdonald added. "We'll do all the tests tomorrow and kind of figure it out as we go. ... I know we'll do everything humanely possible to go play, but just don't know right now." We should get another update by the end of today, but it sounds more likely than not that Smith misses time. That'd leave Sam Howell under center. He struggled badly in relief of Smith against Green Bay, completing just 5 of 14 passes for 24 yards and an INT. Howell was a mixed bag as Washington's starter last year, throwing for 3,946 yards and 21 TDs but also tossing 21 INTs and taking 65 sacks. He's a clear downgrade from Smith -- but better than most backups in the league.

Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Rams. There was optimism early in the week that Metcalf would be back for this one, but he seemingly didn’t progress as hoped over the past few days. He gets a Week 10 bye to heal up. Metcalf will again be replaced by WR Jake Bobo this weekend. He’s only an option as a cheap flier in DFS tournaments.
