Bottom Line

Bellinger brings an interesting athletic profile at 6’5, 253 pounds. He tallied a 9.66 Relative Athletic Score as a 2022 rookie.

His production hasn’t garnered fantasy attention in year one or two. But with Darren Waller on the way out, there’s room for Bellinger to gain low-end value. Consider him a fine TE3 target in best ball leagues.

What We Learned Last Year

  • Bellinger played 688 snaps – sixth on the team and second among Giants’ pass catchers.
  • Darren Waller missed five games, but Bellinger remained a fantasy non-factor.
    • The young TE scattered 25 catches and 255 yards across 17 games.
    • He didn’t top 3 targets in any game without Waller.
  • He was hamstrung by an awful Giants passing game that lost Daniel Jones to a November ACL tear.
    • New York ranked bottom five in total yards and points.
    • They ranked 18th in pass rate over expected.

What to Expect in 2024

  • The Giants return the same offensive nucleus in HC Brian Daboll, OC Mike Kafka, and QB Daniel Jones.
  • TE Darren Waller retired this summer.
    • The Giants prepared for his departure by drafting Round 4 TE Theo Johnson. Johnson brings exciting athleticism … and an underwhelming production profile.
    • Losing Waller removes 74 targets (across 12 games).
  • Dynamic WR Malik Nabers arrived as a Round 1 pick.
    • His college profile shows a pro-ready prospect who should command a major year-one role. A target share around 25% is in play.

Daniel Bellinger questionable for Week 14

Giants TE Daniel Bellinger missed the final two practices of the week with an illness and is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Packers. Hopefully you're not relying on him in Week 14 fantasy lineups. Bellinger's absence would leave Lawrence Cager as New York's top TE.

The Giants placed TE Darren Waller on IR with his latest hamstring injury. He was already ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Raiders and will now also miss the next three games vs. the Cowboys, Commanders, and Patriots. The Giants then have a Week 13 bye, so Week 14 is the earliest we'll see Waller again. He's droppable in fantasy leagues without deep benches or IR spots. Daniel Bellinger will take over as New York's lead TE with Waller out. He averaged 2.5 catches, 22 yards, and 0.2 TDs across 12 games as a rookie last year.

Giants HC Brian Daboll said Thursday that TE Darren Waller (hamstring) won't play vs. the Raiders this weekend and might require a trip to IR. That'd knock him out for four total games. It's not a big surprise after Waller admitted that he'll likely miss multiple weeks with his latest hamstring injury. We'd try to keep him stashed on fantasy benches considering the sorry state of the TE position, but Waller might need to be dropped in shallow-bench leagues. His absence leaves Daniel Bellinger as New York's top TE. He averaged 2.5 catches, 22 yards, and 0.2 TDs across 12 games as a rookie last year. Bellinger is an emergency-only fantasy option.

Giants TE Darren Waller popped up on the injury report Friday with a hamstring issue that has him questionable for Sunday night's game against the Cowboys. That indicates he sustained the injury in Friday's practice. We'll watch for further updates on Waller's status.

Giants TE Daniel Bellinger (rib) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Commanders. We’ll see if he guts it out for this big game, but Bellinger isn’t a recommended fantasy play.
