He's not worth a pick in fantasy drafts right now.

According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, White still seemed to be walking with "an uncomfortable gait" at a community event Wednesday. This is far from an official update on the health of a player who is reporting early to training camp to continue rehab. But Reiss has been on the Patriots beat a long time, and his observations are worth acknowledging. White got a 2-year deal to re-sign with New England this offseason, but that pact included just $500,000 guaranteed. He's not a lock to make the regular-season roster if the hip isn't ready.

Patriots insider Alex Barth writes, "initial reports suggest [RB James White] may not be fully cleared to play by the start of the season." White is working his way back from a significant hip surgery last September and was limited in spring workouts. We'll track his progress throughout the summer, but he's not a very appealing pick in early fantasy drafts. Barth believes rookie RB Pierre Strong is the "best fit" to fill White's pass-catching role if he's not ready for the start of the season.
