The Texans’ O-line “remains a big question mark” entering training camp, per Mike Jones of The Athletic.
Here’s more from Jones in The Athletic.
“Based on work distribution in minicamp, virtually every starting position along Houston’s offensive line remains up for grabs. Tytus Howard is the lone returning starter but took snaps at right guard and right tackle in minicamp. Cam Robinson and [Round 2 rookie] Aireontae Ersery split reps at left tackle, and Ersery and Blake Fisher also saw time at right tackle. It looks like Laken Tomlinson has the leg up at left guard, but center could go to Jarrett Patterson, Jake Andrews or Juice Scruggs. The Texans surrendered 90 sacks the last two seasons, among the most in the NFL, so solidifying C.J. Stroud’s line is a must…”
The Texans slot dead last in our 2025 offensive line rankings.
Houston's O-line didn't harm Joe Mixon's fantasy output in 2024. He ranked 10th in PPR points per game, with his 17.2 PPR PPG average marking his most since 2021.
Poor O-line play certainly contributed to Stroud's '24 decline. Beyond the high sack total, he faced pressure on 39% of his dropbacks. That ranked third-highest among full-time starters, per Pro Football Focus.
Houston's additions at WR (Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel, Christian Kirk) add hope for a 2025 rebound. But improved O-line play will be critical for Stroud to hit his fantasy ceiling.
He enters training camp as a fringe top-20 option in our redraft QB rankings.
