J.K. Dobbins remained Denver's clear lead back in Thursday night's win over the Raiders, carrying 18 times for 77 yards. RB R.J. Harvey mustered just nine yards on his four carries. The rookie out-targeted Dobbins three to one but totaled only nine yards on his two grabs. Dobbins caught his lone target for seven yards.
Denver's RB usage stayed stagnant in this one. Dobbins played 53% of the offensive snaps to Harvey's 28% -- right in the ranges they've been in for most of the season.
The rookie doubled up Dobbins in routes (12 to six) and has now posted his two highest route rates of the season over the last two weeks (44% and 39%). Dobbins, not surprisingly, has posted his two lowest (10% and 19%).
But the veteran continues to control rushing work. And we don't expect that to change anytime soon considering Dobbins has been the more effective runner. He averaged 4.3 yards per carry vs. the Raiders and is now at 5.0 on the season. Harvey managed just 2.3 yards per carry in Week 10, bumping his season-long average down to 4.3.
Harvey did get another opportunity near the end zone against Vegas, taking a swing pass from the five-yard line for a two-yard loss. But his three-game TD streak was snapped, leaving fantasy owners with a dud.
Harvey hasn't topped eight opportunities (carries + targets) in a game since Week 4, leaving him with a very low fantasy floor.
Dobbins remains clearly the better fantasy play, although his lack of passing-game usage is also hurting his fantasy production. He hasn't topped two catches in a game all year and has 0 or 1 catch in eight of 10 games.
Dobbins and Harvey get a tough Week 11 matchup vs. the Chiefs' seventh-ranked RB defense before a Week 12 bye.
