Evan Engram Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Giants HC Joe Judge said Tuesday that TE Evan Engram's status for Week 1 is uncertain. We still don't have any details on Engram's calf injury, and Judge said there's “gray area” with the situation. It at least sounds like Engram avoided a serious injury. But it's never good when a guy who's struggled with injuries is hurt before the season even begins.

Giants TE Evan Engram left Sunday's preseason finale against the Patriots with a left calf injury. It was a non-contact injury, and the team ruled him out for the game. That's not a good sign. We'll see about the official diagnosis. Pass on drafting Engram if your league drafts tonight. Kyle Rudolph would be worth later consideration if Engram is set to miss significant time.

Update: HC Joe Judge said after the game there is "optimism" that the injury is minor, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Engram will undergo testing Monday to determine the extent of the damage, so we should know more by Monday night.

Giants TE Kyle Rudolph is opening training camp on the active/PUP list. That's not surprising, given that the veteran TE had foot surgery shortly after signing with the team. He can be activated at any point during camp. If Rudolph remains on the list until the final roster cutdown, he'd be eligible for the regular-season PUP. That would require him to miss 6 games. We'll keep an eye on Rudolph's status, mostly for the sake of Evan Engram's snap/target competition.
