Eagles Grab Another WR to Not Target

        7:31pm UTC 8/17/25

The Texans are trading WR John Metchie III to the Eagles, according to multiple reports. They're sending Metchie and a sixth-round pick for TE Harrison Bryant and a fifth-rounder. The teams originally swapped those same picks in the trade that sent S C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Texans this offseason. Houston drafted Metchie 44th overall (second round) in 2022. After losing his first season to leukemia treatment, Metchie averaged just 1.4 receptions per game over the past two years. The Texans acquired WR Christian Kirk this offseason and then drafted WRs Jayden Higgins (Round 2) and Jaylin Noel (Round 3).

Raiders view Alexander Mattison as depth

        2:53pm UTC 3/26/24

Raiders HC Antonio Pierce called newly signed RB Alexander Mattison and TE Harrison Bryant depth pieces. "We’re talking about guys that could come in and, at some point — don’t know when it’s gonna happen — but, give us that starter, that little jolt or juice that we can use," Pierce added. Bryant was never a legitimate threat to 2023 second-rounder Michael Mayer. The bigger takeaway here is that the Raiders evidently don't view Mattison as a competitor for the starting RB job. Mattison's play could change throughout the offseason, of course. And Vegas could still add a RB in the draft. But Zamir White's odds of opening the season as the starter continue to climb. He remains a solid value in early best-ball drafts. For more on White, check out 2024 Fantasy Football Breakouts.

Harrison Bryant still a backup in Las Vegas

        7:56am UTC 3/14/24

The Raiders signed TE Harrison Bryant to a one-year, $3.25 million deal with a max value of $4 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Bryant spent the past four seasons in Cleveland backing up TE Austin Hooper and then TE David Njoku. He'll play a similar secondary role in Las Vegas behind TE Michael Mayer. Bryant is off the redraft radar and is not a must-hold in dynasty.

        Njoku out for Week 13

        1:30pm UTC 12/2/22

Browns TE David Njoku (knee) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Texans. He had just gotten over a high-ankle sprain and then hurt his knee in last week's win over the Bucs. We'll see if Njoku can make it back for Week 14, but he wasn't able to practice at all this week. TE Harrison Bryant will step back in as Cleveland's lead TE on Sunday but remains a shaky fantasy play. He totaled just 3 catches on 3 targets in the 2 games Njoku missed a few weeks ago.

        Njoku reclaims lead role

        6:27pm UTC 11/27/22

Browns TE David Njoku returned to the top of the depth chart in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers and found the end zone. He ranked 2nd on the team in targets (7), receptions (5) and receiving yards (29) -- including a 12-yard TD late in the 4th quarter to send the game to OT. Pro Football Focus credited Njoku with the 3rd most routes run among Browns, 3 times as many as #2 TE Harrison Bryant. That marked a big rebound for Njoku vs. his Week 11 return from injury. He ran a route on 76.7% of Jacoby Brissett's 43 dropbacks. With Deshaun Watson back next week, Njoku looks like a weekly top-10 option the rest of the way.

Njoku trails Harrison Bryant in return

        7:09pm UTC 11/20/22

Browns TE David Njoku was active and starting against the Bills for the 1st time since a knee injury knocked him out of Week 7. But he played about half as many snaps as TE Harrison Bryant and trailed the position leader by 10 routes and 4 targets. Njoku managed 2 catches for 17 yards among 3 looks. We'd bet on his playing time improving for a Week 12 date with the Buccaneers. Bryant caught 4 balls for 41 yards against the Bills on 7 targets, which ranked 2nd on the team.

        Njoku out for Week 10

        1:29pm UTC 11/11/22

Browns TE David Njoku (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Dolphins. We’ll see if he can make it back from the high-ankle sprain for Week 11. When Njoku missed Cleveland’s last game, TE Harrison Bryant ran a route on just 42% of pass plays and finished without a target, so he’s not a bankable fantasy spot starter.

        7:05pm UTC 11/10/22

Browns TE David Njoku (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday. At this point, he's looking unlikely to play vs. the Dolphins this weekend. TE Harrison Bryant went target-less when Njoku missed Cleveland's last game, so he's not a viable fantasy play if Njoku is out on Sunday.

        Njoku has high-ankle sprain

        1:04pm UTC 10/24/22

Browns TE David Njoku suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Week 7 loss to the Ravens, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Schefter gives Njoku a 2-5 week timetable for return, but high-ankle sprains tend to keep guys out at least 4 weeks. Njoku is only worth stashing in deep leagues and TE-premium leagues. His absence leaves Harrison Bryant as Cleveland's lead TE -- and a potential low-end fantasy spot starter.

Browns TE David Njoku caught 5 balls among 7 targets for a team-with 73 yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons. He tied for the team reception lead with WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, who led Cleveland with 9 targets. DPJ collected 71 yards. No other Brown exceeded 35 yards receiving. TE Harrison Bryant was the only other player with more than 2 receptions. He caught 4 of 6 targets for 18 yards. WR Amari Cooper drew just 4 looks and caught only 1 for 9 yards.

        7:05am UTC 9/19/22

Browns TE David Njoku managed 3 grabs (5 targets) for 32 yards in Week 2. Nothing exciting to report here, although Njoku just missed scoring when he failed to keep his feet in bounds. He added 1 drop that would have gone for a first down. Through 2 weeks, Njoku’s been out-targeted (8-6) and out-produced (63 yards vs. 39 yards) by TE Harrison Bryant. Next up is a tough Thursday night matchup vs. Pittsburgh.

Njoku did run a route on 74% of QB Jacoby Brissett's dropbacks. So there's hope for his opportunities increase. But Njoku shouldn't be in Week 2 lineups, if you can help it.

        Year 3 jump for Bryant?

        11:30am UTC 8/10/22

After visiting Browns camp and speaking with team officials, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes TE Harrison Bryant will play a “pivotal role” come Week 1. The #2 TE is described as "a safety value, available on screens and intermediate routes.” It’s quite possible we see more 2-TE looks, especially with Cleveland’s WR depth unproven. Bryant's totaled only 45 catches through 2 seasons but brings Round 4 draft capital and huge college production. Still, the presence of David Njoku and the uncertainty surrounding Deshaun Watson leave Bryant as just a late option in deep FFPC formats.
