Jalen Hurts Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts returned to practice on Sunday. He was a late scratch for Thursday night's preseason game vs. the Patriots due to a stomach infection. It should be a non-issue going forward.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts missed Thursday night's game against the Patriots with what's been diagnosed as a stomach infection, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Hurts was reportedly told to rest at home for 2 days. Beyond that, he should be good to go. We'll pass along any further upsdates.

The Eagles announced just before Thursday night's game against the Patriots that they would hold QB Jalen Hurts out because of illness. That gave Joe Flacco the start (and it didn't go well). This doesn't look like a situation that will affect Hurts' availability any further.

Reports out of Eagles training camp have been up and down on 2nd-year QB Jalen Hurts. But ESPN's Tim McManus says the new starter has looked particularly good in 1 key area. "Hurts has been money on throwing the deep balls," McManus writes. "He has shown a knack for hitting his receivers in stride with touch, even from 40-plus yards out." According to McManus, Hurts also tied Tom Brady, Derek Carr and Deshaun Watson for most completions of 30+ yards from Week 13 on last season -- Hurts' starting stretch. The young QB has reportedly struggled more in the short and intermediate ranges. We can work with that combo in fantasy. Hurts' strong deep passing plus the speed of his top 2 WRs -- DeVonta Smith and Jalen Reagor -- only adds upside to a QB whose most attractive in fantasy for his rushing ability. Deshaun Watson rumors have knocked Hurts down some ADP boards recently, which could be a buying opportunity on a risk-reward fantasy QB.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is expected to see "increased playing time" at QB against the Seahawks on Monday night, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. QB Carson Wentz reportedly won't be on the field for at least some of those snaps, so it sounds like Hurts will be in a more traditional QB role than he's played so far this season. "It's unlikely that Hurts, the second-round Heisman finalist from Oklahoma and Alabama, will get to take an entire series," Rapoport writes. "More likely, it will be two or three plays at a time. But, based on the game plan and the week of practice, he should see his most significant snaps yet." We don't know exactly how much Hurts will end up playing, but this is obviously a knock against Wentz's Week 12 fantasy value. Despite the dream matchup vs. Seattle, we'd look elsewhere in 1-QB leagues.
