Treylon Burks Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

WR Treylon Burks has been QB Ryan Tannehill's "favorite target" throughout OTAs, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official website writes. "It seems like Tannehill connects with Burks at the start of every period, and I haven't seen Burks drop a ball intended for him yet in the open OTAs," Wyatt adds. Frankly, it'd be disappointing if Burks wasn't Tannehill's favorite target considering the sorry state of Tennessee's pass-catching corps. But that's part of Burks' 2023 fantasy appeal: He has a chance to dominate Titans targets. The second-year WR is a legitimate breakout candidate this year.

Titans WR Treylon Burks commented on his health ahead of OTAs. Burks struggled with asthma for parts of his rookie season but is confident he can control the condition better in 2023. "I feel faster because I can breathe," Burks said via The Tennessean. "I didn't go to train at the beach or anything. I stayed here. I wanted to stay around the facility, to make a connection with the coaches but also to get ahead on things.” The second-year WR added that he was “clueless” when he first turned pro. "My biggest things was not repeating what I did last year, coming into the offseason," he said. "I feel like I've mastered that.” The Titans certainly anticipate a big leap forward, as no significant offseason investment arrived at WR or TE. At WR35, Burks is fairly priced in early FFPC ADP.

The Titans have promoted passing-game coordinator Tim Kelly to OC. 2022 was Kelly's first season in Tennessee. He spent the previous 3 years as Houston's OC. Those first 2 Texans teams had middling finishes in points and total yards under QB Deshaun Watson before sinking to bottom-3 levels in 2021 with QBs Davis Mills and Tyrod Taylor. It's not an overly inspiring hire by Tennessee. Expect the offense to again revolve around RB Derrick Henry in 2023.

The Titans have hired Ran Carthon as their GM. Carthon has been the 49ers' director of player personnel the past 6 years and held the same role with the Rams the previous 5 years. At the top of his to-do list this offseason will be figuring out what to do at QB, where 34-year-old Ryan Tannehill carries a $36.6 million 2023 cap hit and Malik Willis is coming off an ugly rookie campaign.

The Titans fired OC Todd Downing. He deployed slow-faced, run-heavy offenses the past 2 seasons. Tennessee sunk from 17th in total yards and 15th in points in 2021 to 30th and 28th this past year. We'll see who the Titans tab to run the offense going forward -- and if that guy will open up the passing game a bit. RB Derrick Henry turned 29 last week, and Tennessee has a couple of intriguing, young talents in WR Treylon Burks and TE Chig Okonkwo.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (groin) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Jaguars. He was added to the injury report on Wednesday and then didn’t practice on Thursday, so it’s tough to believe he’s at 100% for this one. Burks isn't a recommended play outside of Saturday and 1-game DFS contests.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (groin) did not practice on Thursday and carries a questionable injury designation ahead of Week 18 vs. the Jaguars. With QB Joshua Dobbs under center last week, the rookie wideout tallied 4 receptions on 8 targets for 66 yards. Not bad production, all things considered. The Jaguars' defense also ranks as the 10th-best matchup for WRs in adjusted fantasy points allowed this season. That said, it's tough to trust Burks too much in a matchup where the Titans are likely to lean heavily on RB Derrick Henry. Burks is a WR4/deep league flex consideration in Week 18.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (groin) was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday. We'll see if the rookie is able to work up to full participation tomorrow. Check back tomorrow for further clarity surrounding Burks' availability for Week 18 vs. the Jaguars on Saturday.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (concussion) is active for today’s game vs. the Texans. The rookie isn’t a recommended fantasy play with Malik Willis under center.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (concussion) practiced in full all week. The rookie carries an official injury designation of questionable for Week 16's game vs. the Texans. Hopefully, Burks will clear the concussion protocol and be able to play on Saturday. We'll know more ahead of kickoff regarding his availability.

Titans insider Paul Kuharsky hears that QB Ryan Tannehill is "very likely" done for the season with an ankle injury that may require surgery. Tannehill has hurt this right ankle twice this season -- but was surprisingly allowed to re-enter last week's loss to the Chargers. His absence leaves QB Malik Willis at the controls the rest of the way. The rookie made 2 starts the first time Tannehill went down, TOTALING 135 passing yards on 26 attempts. Tennessee will go as run-heavy as possible with Willis, tanking the fantasy value of pass catchers like TE Chig Okonkwo and WR Treylon Burks.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (concussion) practiced fully for the 2nd day in a row on Wednesday. It seems the rookie is likely to play in Week 16's game vs. the Texans on Saturday. Burks has not played since sustaining a head injury in Week 13 vs. the Eagles. With rookie QB Malik Willis likely under center, Burks may not be particularly viable as a fantasy option this week. Additionally, the Texans rank as the 5th-most difficult matchup for WRs in adjusted fantasy points allowed. Burks' potential return to play is better news for Titans fans than fantasy managers.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (concussion) was listed as a full participant at practice on Tuesday. The rookie is trending toward being able to play in Saturday's game vs. the Texans at this rate. It will still be worth monitoring his participation today, however. Fellow rookie TE Chigoziem Okonkwo has stepped up in Burks' absence as a fantasy contributor, so there could be some ripple effects here. We'll keep an eye out.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Chargers. That leaves Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine as Tennessee's top 2 WRs once again -- and keeps TEs Chig Okonkwo and Austin Hooper in play for fantasy lineups.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (concussion) remained sidelined on Thursday. He now looks like a long shot to be cleared in time for this weekend's game vs. the Chargers. That'll keep Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine atop the WR depth chart -- and keep TE Chig Okonkwo in play as a fantasy spot starter.
