Alex Singleton Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Broncos LB Alex Singleton suffered a torn left ACL in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. HC Sean Payton had to confirm the injury after practice Wednesday because Singleton played through it for the rest of the game. The LB later reported soreness, and MRI confirmed the tear. He'll miss the rest of the season. Denver has Cody Barton, Justin Strnad, and Kristian Welch on the roster at non-edge LB. The Broncos also signed LBs Kwon Alexander and Zach Cunningham to the practice squad Wednesday. Barton is the best early bet to lead the group in playing time but is far from a sure thing to maintain that role the rest of the way.

The Broncos are re-signing LB Alex Singleton to a three-year, $18 million deal that includes $9 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. It's a surprising move. Singleton went undrafted in the 2015 draft class and didn't play in an NFL game until 2019. He bounced into and out of the Eagles lineup through 2020 and 2021 before they let him walk. Even last season, his playing time fluctuated throughout the season. Singleton is coming off his best pro season, though, and has been a tackle monster whenever on the field. Fortunately, we fantasy players don't have to worry about whether this is a good move for the Broncos. We can just take advantage of the tackle collection when he's on the field. So Singleton now looks better than expected for dynasty rosters. And he's a candidate for the top 24 when our 2023 IDP rankings roll out.

Broncos LB Josey Jewell is off the final injury report for Week 8. He missed the past 2 games after leaving Week 5 early with a knee injury. Jewell remained limited the 1st 2 practices this week but put in a full Friday and carries no game designation. He's fine as a low-LB2 or LB3 for fantasy football use this week and has moved up our Week 8 IDP rankings. LB Alex Singleton does not belong in IDP lineups with Jewell back. Denver also ruled EDGE Baron Browning (hip) out vs. the Jaguars.

Broncos LB Josey Jewell (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets. He missed last week's game after leaving Week 5 early. Jewell put in a pair of limited practices after sitting out Wednesday. We'll see about his status Sunday. If Jewell is active, Alex Singleton won't be usable in IDP lineups. DL D.J. Jones (ankle) is also questionable.

Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett has called LB Josey Jewell "week to week" with the knee sprain that knocked him out of Thursday night's loss to the Colts. Alex Singleton figures to fill in for Jewell while he's out. We'll see whether Jewell has a chance to play in Week 6, but "week to week" from coaches usually means a player is expected to miss at least 1 game.

Broncos LB Josey Jewell left in the 1st half of Thursday night's game against the Colts with a knee injury and was then ruled out. We'll see about the specific diagnosis and expected return timeline. Alex Singleton filled in and got full playing time when Jewell missed the 1st 2 games of the year. We'll see whether he's the guy again if Jewell misses further time, or if LB Jonas Griffith gets more snaps.

The Eagles on Monday activated TE Dallas Goedert and many other players from the COVID list. The most fantasy-relevant names beyond Goedert included RBs Jordan Howard and Boston Scott, and LB Alex Singleton.

Eagles LB Alex Singleton was among a sizable group of Philly players to test positive for COVID on Monday. We'll see whether he can return to the active roster in time to face the Cowboys on Saturday night.
