Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Raiders are finalizing a deal to send WR Davante Adams to the Jets for a conditional draft pick that could become a second-rounder at peak.
Todd Downing will replace Nathaniel Hackett as the Jets' play-caller, interim HC Jeff Ulbrich announced on Thursday. While defensive-minded HC Robert Saleh was canned earlier this week, the offense has been the real problem in New York. The Jets rank 23rd in points, 27th in total yards, and 27th in yards per play. That's largely on Hackett, who has deployed a stale offense. We're just not sure it'll get much better with Downing. He's spent three seasons as an NFL OC, one with the Raiders and two with the Titans. Those offenses ranked 17th, 17th, and 30th in total yards. QB Aaron Rodgers is on board with the move, according to insider Connor Hughes. We'll get our first look at Downing's offense in Monday night's Jets vs. Bills game.
Jets WR Allen Lazard ended with a stat line of four catches on 10 targets for 34 yards against the Vikings. He did connect with Aaron Rodgers for a TD and nearly had another TD on a tough catch.
Jets WR Allen Lazard (illness) is inactive for tonight's game vs. the Browns. He has three catches for 21 yards over his last four games, so hopefully this news doesn't impact your Week 17 fantasy plans.
Jets WR Allen Lazard is a healthy scratch for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. He has just 20 catches for 290 yards and one TD this season and has been charged with seven drops. New York will trot out some combination of WRs Xavier Gipson, Jason Brownlee, Irvin Charles, and Randall Cobb behind alpha Garrett Wilson.
Jets WR Allen Lazard (knee) is active for tonight's game vs. the Chargers. He was added to the injury report on Saturday and listed as questionable, making him a risky fantasy play (as we saw with Colts WR Josh Downs yesterday). WR Randall Cobb is a healthy scratch tonight.
Jets WR Allen Lazard (knee) was added to the injury report on Saturday and is questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Chargers. Averaging just 6.9 PPR points per game, Lazard wasn't a viable fantasy play even before the knee issue. His absence would leave behind 4.1 targets for guys like WR Garrett Wilson, WR Randall Cobb, and TE Tyler Conklin.
Jets WR Garrett Wilson hauled 9 of 14 targets for 60 receiving yards in Week 4 vs. the Chiefs. Teammate Allen Lazard led the team in receiving with 61 receiving yards and a TD on 3 catches in the contest. It’s rare that multiple pass-catchers in the Jets offense pay off for fantasy purposes, but credit to QB Zach Wilson and company for putting forth a competitive effort in primetime. Next week’s game vs. the Broncos will be a good opportunity to build upon their successes.
An MRI confirmed that Jets QB Aaron Rodgers has a torn Achilles, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That ends Rodgers' season after just four snaps. Turning 40 in December, Rodgers' football future is uncertain. He's signed with the Jets for two more seasons, although he carries a $51.5 million cap hit in 2025. The Rodgers injury puts Zach Wilson back under center for now. We'll see if the Jets -- with Super Bowl aspirations -- make a move at QB. For now, all Jets skill-position players are fantasy losers.
Jets HC Robert Saleh said after Monday night's win over the Bills that the team fears QB Aaron Rodgers has a torn Achilles. He's scheduled for an MRI on Monday to confirm. "It's not good," Saleh added. A torn Achilles would end Rodgers' season -- and put the 39-year-old's football future in serious doubt. It'd also leave QB Zach Wilson as New York's starter. That'd obviously be a significant downgrade for all of the Jets' skill-position players.
Jets WR Garrett Wilson wrangled an incredible TD in Monday night's victory to go along with 5 catches for 34 receiving yards vs. the Bills. Teammate Allen Lazard led the team with 46 receiving yards on 2 catches. HC Robert Saleh shared in the post-game press conference that "the MRI is probably going to confirm what [the Jets] already think" is an Achilles injury for QB Aaron Rodgers. We'll learn more about those details on Tuesday. Should that be the case and Rodgers misses time, fantasy managers will have to significantly readjust expectations for Jets' pass-catchers in 2023. Stay tuned for more information.
Jets WR Allen Lazard (shoulder) returned to practice on Tuesday. He ended up missing about a week but will be good to go for the season opener. Lazard should be New York's No. 2 WR this season, behind Garrett Wilson.
Jets WR Allen Lazard sprained the AC joint in his shoulder in Wednesday's practice, HC Robert Saleh said. Lazard is expected to be ready for Week 1, Saleh added. The Jets just lost WR Corey Davis to retirement, so they're thinned out at the position right now. We'll let you know when Lazard gets back on the field.
Jets WR Allen Lazard was back on the field for Sunday's practice, according to insider Connor Hughes. Lazard ended up missing a few days with a left leg injury, but it shouldn't be a concern going forward. Lazard and Corey Davis are seemingly battling for the No. 2 outside WR spot behind Garrett Wilson.
Jets WR Allen Lazard was sidelined on Tuesday with a left leg injury. "Nothing serious. Should be back pretty soon," SNY TV's Connor Hughes said. We'll let you know when Lazard is able to get back on the field. We're not moving him in the WR Rankings.
Jets WR Corey Davis shared his thoughts following an offseason of trade/cut rumors. “All of that was out of my control,” Davis said. “It was kind of a long offseason. There was a point where there was uncertainty. Obviously, with all the moves going on, it’s hard not to think that. It’s still a business, but I’m happy to be here. Happy they kept me.” New York added WRs Allen Lazard and Mecole Hardman. But HC Robert Saleh said all offseason that the team intended to keep Davis. The 28-year-old is under contract for one more season, and he’s essentially free in current fantasy drafts.
Jets WR Allen Lazard’s contract calls for $22 million guaranteed, the most handed out to a free-agent pass catcher this offseason. The guys behind him: Jakobi Meyers ($21 million), JuJu Smith-Schuster ($16 million), and Odell Beckham ($15 million). Lazard set career highs last year in targets (100), catches (60), and yards (788), despite two missed games. He just wasn’t particularly efficient. In a sample of 41 WRs, he sat 19th in yards per catch, 30th in Pro Football Focus receiving grade, 32nd in yards per route run, and 35th in catch rate. Lazard’s contract says he’ll be the clear No. 2 WR behind Garrett Wilson. A history with Aaron Rodgers and OC Nathaniel Hackett also supplies an edge. Said Lazard (via the Jets’ official site): “For me, playing in the same offense really my entire career, having Coach Hackett every single year except for last year, and then be able to reunite again with him here, has been a rejuvenating feeling to be able to have him and his energy around.” Projected for 97 targets (in 16 games), Lazard hits the WR rankings as a spot-start WR3.
