Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Broncos RB Audric Estime is a healthy scratch for today's game vs. the Bills. RB Tyler Badie is active for the first time since Week 4. He joins Jaleel McLaughlin and Javonte Williams in the backfield. McLaughlin remains the top fantasy play, although Estime's absence probably gives the biggest boost to Williams.
Broncos RB Jaleel McLaughlin (quad) is not listed on the final injury report and will be back for Saturday's game vs. the Bengals. Denver figures to deploy at least a three-RB committee with McLaughlin, Javonte Williams, and Audric Estime in that one. We'll see if RB Blake Watson stays involved. And WR Marvin Mims has also been getting backfield work lately. It's a RB group to try to avoid in Week 17 fantasy lineups.
Broncos RB Jaleel McLaughlin (quad) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's practice report. He's on track to return for Saturday's game vs. the Bengals. RB Audric Estime impressed with McLaughlin out last week, but it was McLaughlin who was emerging as the best fantasy bet in Denver's backfield before the quad injury. This is a tough backfield to project in Week 17, making it a situation to avoid in fantasy lineups.
Despite RB Jaleel McLaughlin's absence, the Broncos stuck with a three-man committee backfield in Thursday night's loss to the Chargers. RB Audric Estime led the way with nine carries for 48 yards and a score. But he played just 13 offensive snaps -- 20 fewer than RB Javonte Williams and three more than RB Blake Watson. Williams finished with four carries and a team-high 11 targets, while Watson tallied four carries and two targets. The Broncos even used WR Marvin Mims in the backfield for five snaps.
Broncos RB Jaleel McLaughlin (quad) is out for Thursday night's game vs. the Chargers. That turns this from a three-man committee to a two-man committee, raising the ceilings and floors on both RB Javonte Williams and RB Audric Estime. It's still a backfield we'd rather avoid in fantasy lineups, but Williams lands inside the top 35 RBs in the Week 16 Rankings.
Broncos RB Jaleel McLaughlin is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Colts with a quad injury. McLaughlin was leading Denver RBs with seven carries and 21 rushing yards when he exited. His absence leaves the backfield to Javonte Williams and Audric Estime.
Broncos RB Javonte Williams rushed a team-leading 9 times for 59 yards and 1 score in Sunday’s win over Atlanta. Audric Estime mixed in with 6 attempts for 16 yards.
Broncos HC Sean Payton said Monday that RB Audric Estime will get more work going forward. We got a similar report from CBS' Tracy Wolfson on Sunday morning. Estime finished the loss to the Ravens with five carries -- and those all came in the fourth quarter.
CBS' Tracy Wolfson reports that Broncos RB Audric Estime is expected to be more involved in today's game vs. the Ravens. The rookie has just 10 carries across four games this season, so "more involved" is a low bar to clear. Estime isn't a viable Week 9 fantasy play. But this report is another reason to shy away from RB Javonte Williams today against Baltimore's eighth-ranked RB defense.
Broncos RB Audric Estime (ankle) has been activated from IR and put in a full practice on Wednesday. It looks like he'll be available for this weekend's game vs. the Chargers. Estime lost a fumble and then hurt his ankle in the opener, so we wouldn't expect him to have a significant role in the short term. We'll see if the rookie can work his way into Denver's backfield rotation.
The Broncos are sending rookie RB Audric Estime to IR with an ankle injury. The Athletic's Nick Kosmider says only that Estime will "miss at least four games," which makes it sound like a shorter-term issue.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Broncos are expected to move on from RB Samaje Perine. The team is reportedly trying to trade the veteran before Tuesday's deadline to cut rosters down. But Perine looks like a release candidate if a deal doesn't happen.
RB Javonte Williams took the first rep in every drill at the Broncos' first day of training camp, per Benjamin Allbright.
Troy Renck of The Denver Post says he believes RBs Javonte Williams and Samaje Perine are competing for a roster spot this summer.
Broncos RB Javonte Williams was one of the least efficient runners in the league last year. He averaged just 3.6 yards per carry and ranked 42nd among 49 qualifiers in NFL Next Gen Stats’ Rush Yards Over Expected Per Attempt. It's certainly worth noting that Williams was returning from an October 2022 multi-ligament knee injury. He was cleared for the start of training camp last summer, but it’s fair to wonder if the knee was still a factor throughout the season.
