D'Andre Swift Questionable For Week 15, Roschon Johnson Out

        7:48pm UTC 12/14/24

Bears RB D'Andre Swift (groin) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Vikings. He only got in a limited practice on Saturday but said afterward that he expects to play against Minnesota. The late kickoff makes it a tricky situation for fantasy owners, though. RB Roschon Johnson (concussion) is out for Week 15, so Swift's absence would leave the backfield to RBs Travis Homer and Darrynton Evans. If you're considering those two for Swift insurance, we'd lean toward Homer.

D'Andre Swift Expected To Play Week 14

        8:12am UTC 12/8/24

Bears RB D'Andre Swift (quad) is expected to play vs. the 49ers today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Swift is listed as questionable after only getting in a limited practice on Friday, so he carries elevated risk in Week 14 fantasy lineups. But there's also a chance Swift handles more work today with RB Roschon Johnson (concussion) out. RBs Travis Homer and Darrynton Evans will join Swift in Chicago's backfield today.

        De'Von Achane INACTIVE

        1:31pm UTC 11/24/23

Dolphins RB De’Von Achane (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Jets. He got in three limited practices this week and was listed as questionable, so a Week 13 return seems possible. RBs Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, and Darrynton Evans are active for Miami today. Mostert should handle the majority of the backfield work against New York’s 29th-ranked RB defense.

De'Von Achane not expected to play vs. Jets

        7:57am UTC 11/24/23

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the Dolphins don't expect RB De'Von Achane (knee) to play today against the Jets. He adds that it's not a "long term" injury, so don't be surprised if Achane's ready for Week 13. Pelissero says to expect "a lot" of Raheem Mostert and "some" Jeff Wilson Jr. in the Black Friday game. Mostert makes for a strong fantasy play in a matchup that's much friendlier to rushing than passing. Wilson's a fine roster stash given Achane's situation and could pay off in DFS showdown lineups. But he has only 13 touches through three appearances this season and was a healthy scratch last week. So we wouldn't recommend trying Wilson in common-sized fantasy football league lineups.

De'Von Achane questionable for Week 12

        1:58pm UTC 11/23/23

Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (knee) is listed as questionable for Friday afternoon's game vs. the Jets. He was limited in practice all week. The Dolphins elevated RB Darrynton Evans from the practice squad on Thursday, which is an indication that they're not particularly optimistic about Achane's availability for this one. We'll get Miami's inactives around 1:30 pm ET on Friday.

Khalil Herbert won't play Week 10

        4:35pm UTC 11/9/23

Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle) was not activated from IR and won't play vs. the Panthers today. Herbert was listed as a full participant in practice all week, so he should be able to return for Week 11. His absence tonight leaves D'Onta Foreman as the favorite for lead duties against Carolina's 31st-ranked RB defense. He's carried 15+ times in three of the last four weeks and is a solid RB2 play tonight. Roschon Johnson will handle No. 2 RB duties and is on the RB3/Flex radar in this plus matchup. See where the Bears land in the updated Week 10 RB Rankings.

        Khalil Herbert nearing return

        4:36pm UTC 11/6/23

The Bears on Monday designated RB Khalil Herbert to return from IR. Herbert missed the past four games after suffering a high-ankle sprain against Washington. His designation doesn't necessarily mean he'll return to the active roster for Week 10. But it does allow him to return to practice and give Chicago three weeks to decide whether to activate him. We'll have to see how Herbert fits in with D'Onta Foreman, Roschon Johnson, and Darrynton Evans once he returns, but Herbert had been the backfield's top guy before the injury.

        D'Onta Foreman struggles in loss

        1:05am UTC 10/30/23

The Bears’ running game was unsuccessful on Sunday night vs. the Chargers. Veteran back D’Onta Foreman led the team with 9 carries for 34 yards in the Week 8 contest. Rookie Roschon Johnson didn’t fare much better, accumulating 31 total yards on 9 touches. The only Chicago runner who produced fantasy-relevant numbers was Darrynton Evans. The former Titan caught 3 passes for 22 receiving yards and found the end zone on an 11-yard run late in the second quarter. On top of being a mess, this committee backfield is going up against a stout Saints run defense (13th in run defense DVOA entering this weekend) next Sunday. We’re not keen on starting any of them as more than flex options.

        D'Onta Foreman runs wild

        5:25pm UTC 10/22/23

Bears RB D’Onta Foreman went off for 33 PPR points in Sunday’s win over Vegas. That’ll happen when you rack up three TDs – each from the five-yard line or closer. Darrynton Evans mixed in for 14 carries -- two fewer than Foreman – but only one surfaced at the goal line. We’ll see if Roschon Johnson (concussion) returns for Week 8 at the Chargers. Even if he does, Foreman’s played well enough to retain a backfield role in the short term.

Bears RB Roschon Johnson (concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Raiders. He's yet to return to practice, despite sustaining his concussion over two weeks ago. With RB Khalil Herbert (ankle) on IR, the Bears are down to RBs D'Onta Foreman, Darrynton Evans, and Travis Homer, who is set to return from his hamstring injury. Foreman is the favorite for carries after handling 15 of them last week.

Bears RB Roschon Johnson (concussion) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. He's now a long shot to be cleared ahead of Sunday's game vs. the Raiders. Johnson's absence will leave Chicago's backfield to RBs D'Onta Foreman, Darrynton Evans, and Travis Homer, who is set to return from his hamstring injury. Foreman watched Darrynton Evans draw the other 9 RB carries and ceded a target each to Evans and Khari Blasingame. Foreman did lead the trio in pass routes, according to Pro Football Focus, running 12 to Evans' 9 and Blasingame's 2. Foreman played a solid 60.6% of Chicago's total offensive snaps. Don't be surprised if rookie RB Roschon Johnson makes it through the concussion protocol, though, and works ahead of Foreman in a Week 7 home meeting with the Raiders.
