Gardner Minshew Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Eagles HC Nick Sirianni said Wednesday that QB Jalen Hurts (ankle) is "trending upward." Sirianni said that both Hurts and QB Gardner Minshew would get reps in Wednesday's walkthrough and stopped short of guaranteeing that Hurts will play vs. Washington this weekend. We'll get another update tomorrow.

Jalen Hurts remains the Eagles' starting QB, HC Nick Sirianni confirmed. QB Gardner Minshew played well in relief of Hurts on Sunday, completing 20 of 25 passes for 242 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs vs. the Jets ... but it was the Jets. As long as Hurts' ankle checks out, he'll be back under center for Week 15 vs. Washington.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (ankle) is officially inactive for today’s game vs. the Jets, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. QB Gardner Minshew gets the start and is a viable play in 2-QB and Superflex leagues against the #31 QB defense. The Eagles still figure to lean on their running game in this one.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Jets, according to Eagles writer Derrick Gunn. That will make Gardner Minshew the starter. Gunn adds that RB Boston Scott will be a game-time decision. Scott is dealing with an illness that kept him out of practice all week. With Jordan Howard ruled out, Miles Sanders could be in for a bigger-than-normal workload in 1 of the league's most favorable matchups for RB scoring.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Hurts "very well may be out" but that the team wants to "see how Hurts is feeling" Sunday before making a final decision on his status. It still sounds like you should make alternate plans at QB if you had been planning to use Hurts.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (ankle) is "up in the air" for Sunday's game vs. the Jets, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport suggests that Hurts will be a game-time decision and says "there's a chance" QB Gardner Minshew gets the start. The good news for fantasy owners is that we'll find out whether Hurts is active around 11:30 am ET tomorrow. He'll obviously carry more risk than usual in fantasy lineups if he ends up playing.

Eagles HC Nick Sirianni said Monday that QB Jalen Hurts is "nursing a sore ankle" he hurt in Sunday's loss to the Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He reports that the issue "could impact" Hurts' availability for Sunday's game against the Jets. Philly then has a Week 14 bye, which could factor into the team's decision on who will start at QB. Gardner Minshew would fill in if Hurts can't go.

The Jaguars have traded QB Gardner Minshew to the Eagles for a conditional 2022 sixth-round draft pick. Philly also released QB Nick Mullens, positioning Minshew as at least the 3rd QB on the depth chart. He'll need only to work past Joe Flacco to become Jalen Hurts' backup. That's a nice spot for the 25-year-old Minshew, whose rookie contract runs through 2022. Jacksonville, meanwhile, has C.J. Beathard and Jake Luton around as backups to Trevor Lawrence.

The Jaguars started rookie QB Trevor Lawrence in the preseason opener and plan to do so again Monday against the Saints, but OC Darrell Bevell says that doesn't mean they've decided on their regular-season starter. “We’re still going to handle it that way until we end up making the final decision,” Bevell said, via the Florida Times-Union. “Right now, they are still status quo. We’re trying to make everybody better. We want competition at each and every position. Both guys are getting better because of it.” It's still hard to imagine Jacksonville actually going with Minshew in the regular-season opener. But we have to consider it a possibility. We'll all be watching this situation over the next few weeks.
