        Brock Purdy Limited Again Wednesday

49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) was once again limited in Wednesday's practice. HC Kyle Shanahan said he'd like to get Purdy more first-team reps in practice this week but didn't say whether he has a chance to return for this weekend's game vs. the Rams. At this point, it seems more likely that QB Mac Jones gets another start. But we'll keep you updated on the situation.

The 49ers' offense once again was led by RB Christian McCaffrey, who led the team in rushing and receiving. McCaffrey touched the ball 33 times, compiled 173 scrimmage yards, and scored a pair of TDs, one rushing and one receiving.

Mac Jones Will Start Week 9, Brock Purdy Could Be Backup

        8:27pm UTC 10/31/25

49ers QB Mac Jones will start Sunday’s game vs. the Giants, HC Kyle Shanahan said Friday. QB Brock Purdy (toe) “has a chance” to be available as the backup after another limited week of practice. Jones has cooled off the last two games against tough Falcons and Texans defenses, but he has a chance to bounce back on Sunday vs. the Giants’ 23rd-ranked QB defense.

Brock Purdy 'Not A Long Shot' For Week 9

        11:47pm UTC 10/27/25

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said, "I don't think it's a long shot" when asked if QB Brock Purdy (toe) will be able to play vs. the Giants this weekend. Um, we guess we'll take that? "I think it's too early to say," Shanahan added. "I know he is doing better and we'll see how he's doing Wednesday. Hopefully if he's doing good, he'll get in some reps." Purdy has been limited in practice the past two weeks. QB Mac Jones, meanwhile, has cooled off over the last two weeks. totaling just 345 yards with two TDs and two INTs. We'll keep you updated on Purdy's progress throughout the week.

Brock Purdy Out For Week 8

        12:32am UTC 10/25/25

49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Texans. He was limited in all three practices for the second straight week. We’ll see if Purdy can make it back for Week 9’s game against the Giants. QB Mac Jones makes his sixth start of the season in a tough test against Houston’s top-ranked QB defense. That knocks Jones out of consideration in 1-QB fantasy leagues.

Brock Purdy Unlikely To Play Week 8

        11:41pm UTC 10/20/25

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday that it'd be "a reach" for QB Brock Purdy (toe) to play against the Texans this weekend, according to insider Jerry McDonald. Purdy was limited in practice all last week, but the team continues to play it safe with his return from the second iteration of this toe injury. QB Mac Jones will likely make his sixth start of the season on Sunday. He was cooled off by a tough Falcons defense in Week 7 and gets another challenging matchup against Houston in Week 8.

Brock Purdy Out For Week 7

        12:31am UTC 10/18/25

49ers QBs Brock Purdy (toe) is out for Sunday night’s game vs. the Falcons. He was limited in practice all week, potentially setting him up for a Week 8 return. QB Mac Jones gets another start this weekend. He ranks 17th among QBs in fantasy points per game and has finished top-15 in three of four starts. But he gets a surprising Falcons defense that ranks third in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs.

49ers QBs Brock Purdy (toe) and Mac Jones (knee, oblique) were limited in Wednesday's practice. HC Kyle Shanahan said that Purdy was more limited than Jones. We're tentatively projecting Jones to get another start vs. the Falcons on Sunday night, but we'll continue to keep you updated on the situation.

        6:58pm UTC 10/12/25

49ers QB Mac Jones (knee, oblique) is active for today’s game vs. the Buccaneers. He’ll be operating at less than 100% after getting beat up in Week 5. And the 49ers are missing WRs Ricky Pearsall and Brandon Aiyuk and TE George Kittle. That leaves Jones as just a QB2 in the Week 6 rankings.

Mac Jones Expected To Play Week 6

        12:09pm UTC 10/12/25

49ers QB Mac Jones (knee, oblique) is expected to play vs. the Buccaneers today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Jones was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable after taking numerous big hits in the Week 5 win over the Rams. We're not projecting the injuries to impact his play today, but they add some risk to his profile. Jones will also be missing WRs Ricky Pearsall and Brandon Aiyuk and TE George Kittle, leaving him as just a QB2.

        Brock Purdy Out Wednesday

        1:27am UTC 10/9/25

49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) did not practice on Wednesday. He suffered a setback in Week 4 and seems unlikely to play against the Buccaneers on Sunday. The Niners have no reason to rush Purdy back with how well QB Mac Jones is playing. It looks like Jones will again be without Ricky Pearsall, George Kittle, and potentially Jauan Jennings this week, which is keeping him outside the top 12 in our QB Rankings. But he has enough upside to be in consideration as a spot starter in 1-QB fantasy leagues.

Mac Jones Shreds Rams With Second-String Offense

        1:07pm UTC 10/3/25

49ers QB Mac Jones completed 33 of 49 passes (67%) for 342 yards (7.0 YPA), two TDs, and 0 INTs in Thursday night's overtime win over the Rams. More impressive: He did it without Ricky Pearsall, Jauan Jennings, Brandon Aiyuk, or George Kittle. Jones fed RB Christian McCaffrey eight times for 82 yards and a score. But he also hooked up with WR Kendrick Bourne for 10 completions and 142 yards. Jones' other TD went to TE Jake Tonges, who finished with seven grabs for 41 yards. Jones' timing and ball placement were on point all night. And he stood tall in the pocket amidst countless big hits from a strong Rams pass rush. It was an impressive showing.

Brock Purdy Could Miss More Games

        12:20am UTC 10/3/25

49ers QB Brock Purdy suffered a setback with his toe injury last week, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Purdy wasn't close to playing vs. the Rams on Thursday night, per Rapoport, and "could miss additional games." We'll keep tabs on Purdy's status when the 49ers get back to work next week. QB Mac Jones has played well enough so far that the 49ers can be cautious with Purdy (although they evidently weren't cautious enough the first time around). San Francisco's bye is not until Week 14.

Brock Purdy & Top Two WRs Out For Week 5

        8:12pm UTC 10/1/25

49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) and WRs Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Jauan Jennings (ankle, ribs) have all been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Rams. It doesn't sound like any of their injuries are serious, but the short week did them no favors. We'll see if they can make it back for Week 6. QB Mac Jones makes another start vs. the Rams this week. He played well in Week 2 and 3 starts, completing 66% of his passes at 7.0 yards per attempt with 4 TDs vs. 1 INT. He'll be working with a rag tag group of pass catchers on Thursday night, though. The WR corps figures to be led by Kendrick Bourne, Demarcus Robinson, and Skyy Moore, while Jake Tonges again leads the TE room. We'd try not to mess with any of these guys in Week 5 fantasy lineups. RB Christian McCaffrey will be very busy yet again.

Brock Purdy Dealing With Toe Soreness

        6:10pm UTC 9/29/25

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday that QB Brock Purdy is dealing with soreness in the toe he injured earlier this season. Purdy reportedly felt fine during the Week 4 loss to the Jaguars but called Shanahan complaining of soreness on Sunday night. The situation is complicated by the fact that the Niners play the Rams this Thursday night. "Hopefully we'll find out more later today, but any time guys are sore and hurting on a Monday, you usually don't stress too much about it," Shanahan said. "But anytime you have a Thursday game, it's a totally different element. So, I'm concerned with anybody who's not totally healthy at this moment, but we'll have to get more information on that later today to really have a clue of what to speculate." We'll keep you updated on Purdy's status. If he can't play on Thursday night, San Francisco would go back to QB Mac Jones, who's battling his own knee injury.

        1:05am UTC 9/18/25
