Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Seahawks and RB Marshawn Lynch are meeting today about a possible reunion. “Both sides are optimistic he is back wearing 24”, a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter. Seattle is desperate at RB after losing Chris Carson (hip) and C.J. Prosise (arm) in the Week 16 loss to the Cardinals. Lynch, of course, spent 2011- 2015 with the Seahawks. But he hasn't played since October of 2018, and it's entirely unclear what kind of shape the 33-year-old is in. He wouldn't be a realistic Week 17 fantasy option, but he'd make RB Travis Homer tougher to trust.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (calf) isn't listed on the final Week 16 injury report. He was added to the injury report and limited on Thursday but returned to a full practice on Friday. ESPN's Ben Baby confirms that Mixon is expected to have "no issues" in Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Mixon is a legitimate RB1 in that matchup.

Rams TE Gerald Everett (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. That puts him on track to return for Saturday night's game against the 49ers. Tyler Higbee leads all TEs in targets, catches and yards over the last 3 weeks -- but note that Everett out-targeted Higbee 59 to 33 over the Rams' first 11 games. We'd bet on Higbee sticking as the lead TE in Week 16, but Everett's return certainly adds risk to his outlook.

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs is expected to play this weekend after an MRI on his injured shoulder "checked out very positively," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's good timing for Jacobs, who will return to face a barely-there Jaguars run defense that's allowed a pathetic 6.3 yards per carry to RBs over the last 4 weeks.

The forecast for today's Ravens-Bills game calls for 15-20 mph winds with gusts of 30+. QBs Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen both do a lot of their fantasy damage on the ground, so neither guy is significantly hurt by the weather. We would slightly downgrade WRs John Brown and Marquise Brown with deep passes likely to be impacted.

The Patriots expect WR Julian Edelman (shoulder) and WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) to play through their "questionable" tags against the Chiefs today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Play them in fantasy as you normally would.

The forecast for today's Bucs-Jags game calls for a slight chance of rain with winds of 17-20 mph. Gusts could come in at 25-30 mph. That's enough wind to impact the passing and kicking games. QBs Jameis Winston and Nick Foles come with increased risk in Week 13 fantasy lineups. Try to avoid Ks Matt Gay and Josh Lambo.

The Colts are not planning to activate WR Devin Funchess (collarbone) from the IR, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "The plate inserted into the break did not work out as hoped," Rapoport adds. "He hasn’t healed enough." Funchess is set to hit free agency this offseason. The Colts will move forward with Zach Pascal, Marcus Johnson and Chester Rogers as their healthy WRs. We'll see when T.Y. Hilton (calf) and Parris Campbell (hand) are able to return.

Colts DE Justin Houston (calf) and S Malik Hooker (knee) are active for today's game against the Steelers. Each guy turned up questionable but is available for normal usage. Houston looks less attractive for IDP lineups than usual with the calf issue and strong Pittsburgh pass protection.

The forecast for today's Redskins-Bills game calls for winds between 15 and 20 mph with gusts around 30 mph. It won't be as windy as it was last week, but this is still enough to give slight bumps down to the passing and kicking games. Hopefully you were already avoiding Washington's passing game (including Terry McLaurin) in rookie QB Dwayne Haskins' 1st start. QB Josh Allen and WR John Brown remain fine plays on the Buffalo side. We'd try not to use either K in this game.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Packers WR Davante Adams (toe) won't play against the Chiefs tonight but adds that Adams is expected back for Week 9. We'll track his practice participation this coming week for clues on how close Adams is to 100%, but he figures to return to must-start status.

The Eagles have ruled LB Nigel Bradham out for Sunday night's game at Dallas. That leaves Nate Gerry and Kamu Grugier-Hill as the top 2 LBs against the Cowboys. It's tough to know what to expect from either player statistically, given that they've combined for 1 total game of 50+% playing time. That came from Gerry last week when Bradham left early with his ankle sprain. Gerry is an option for deeper IDP leagues. Philly CB Ronald Darby is questionable for the game after missing the past 3 contests with a hamstring injury. The Eagles also activated CB Jalen Mills, who has been out since suffering a foot injury last October.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has been diagnosed with a dislocated patella (knee cap), according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Mahomes will undergo an MRI to check for ligament damage. Former NFL head team Dr. David Chao says that Mahomes will eventually need surgery, which will sideline him for 6 to 9 months. It's possible, though, for Mahomes to return in 4+ weeks and play through the injury. We'll continue to update this situation as we learn more.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes injured his right knee on a QB sneak in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Broncos. Trainers appeared to pop the knee back into place on the field. Mahomes was able to walk off the field with trainers and headed back to the locker room. We'll update his status when we learn more. QB Matt Moore is in the game for Kansas City.

Update: Mahomes has been ruled out for the game.

The Raiders and TE Darren Waller have agreed to a 3-year extension worth about $9 million per season, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Instead of hitting restricted free agency this offseason, Waller is now signed with Oakland through 2023. It's a big commitment to a guy who was signed off the Ravens' practice squad last November. Waller has quickly emerged as a focal point of the Raiders' passing game, leading the team with 42 targets, 37 catches and 359 yards through 5 games.

The Titans announced Tuesday that QB Ryan Tannehill will start Sunday's game against the Chargers. The move doesn't come as a surprise after Marcus Mariota was benched in the Week 6 loss at Denver. But it's a significant shift away from the "franchise" QB. Mariota's in the final year (the option year) of his rookie contract and seems almost certainly done with Tennessee after this season. Tannehill is on just a 1-year deal and already 31. If the Titans can get competent QB play, they have enough pass-catching talent to deliver at least usable fantasy value around the offense -- including under center. We wouldn't consider Tannehill outside of DFS and 2-QB leagues in his first start.

The Titans have released K Cairo Santos. The move isn't surprising after Santos missed 4 FG tries in Sunday's loss to the Bills. That included misses from 33 and 36 yards out. We'll see who gets the next shot to fill in for Ryan Succop, who is on IR.

Rams TE Tyler Higbee (lung) practiced all week and is set to return for Sunday’s game against the Bucs. That knocks TE Gerald Everett out of the spot-start discussion. Higbee actually out-targeted Everett 8 to 5 over the season’s first 2 games.

Bucs HC Bruce Arians labeled WR Chris Godwin (hip) a game-time decision for Sunday's tilt with the Rams. Godwin returned to practice on Friday after missing the first 2 days and was "moving around well," according to Arians. Bucs-Rams doesn't kick off until 4:05 pm ET, so hopefully we get an update on Godwin's status on Sunday morning.

Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (calf) was listed as a full participant in Tuesday's practice. It was just a walk-through, but the listing suggests that Jeffery will be ready for his usual role against the Packers on Thursday night. It's a tough matchup, but Jeffery is back in the WR3 discussion.
