Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield suffered a knee injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. New England. He's officially questionable to return, but QB Case Keenum is now in the game. We'll update Mayfield's status when we know more.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) will start this weekend's game vs. the Steelers, HC Kevin Stefanski announced Friday. Mayfield will be playing through what's been reported as a fractured humerus bone and torn labrum in his left shoulder. He's at risk of an in-game aggravation, making him an extremely shaky Week 8 fantasy play.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) put in his 2nd straight limited practice on Thursday. His availability for this weekend's game vs. the Steelers remains uncertain. Check back tomorrow for another update.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He's trying to make it back for this weekend's game vs. the Steelers, despite the fractured humerus bone and torn labrum in his left shoulder. Mayfield would obviously be an extremely shaky fantasy play if he ends up suiting up.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Browns QB Baker Mayfield has a fractured humerus bone in his left shoulder, in addition to the torn labrum. He needs that fracture to heal before he'll be cleared to play. Mayfield told Glazer that he's "hoping" to return next week, but that feels unlikely. We'll keep you updated on the situation.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield is expected to need surgery on his left shoulder, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The surgery can reportedly be delayed until after this season. "The belief is he can deal with it through the season, but incurring more damage would make it challenging," Rapoport adds. Mayfield is out for Thursday night's game vs. the Broncos, but it sounds like he'll try to make it back for Week 8.
Browns HC Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday that QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) is out for Thursday night's game vs. the Broncos and that QB Case Keenum will get the start. "Baker obviously wants to be out there but just couldn’t make it on a short week," Stefanski said. “We know he will continue to do everything in his power to return as quickly as possible." We'll see if Mayfield can make it back for Week 8. Keenum, meanwhile, will make his 1st start since Week 17 of the 2019 season. The 33-year-old has 62 career starts under his belt and sports a 62.3% completion rate, 6.9 yards-per-attempt average and 75 TDs vs. 47 INTs. Keenum is a capable backup but still a downgrade from Mayfield.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield expects to play vs. the Broncos on Thursday night. "It's my decision," Mayfield said. "I get to say whether I play or not and that's just how it is." Alrighty then. Mayfield's left shoulder injury doesn't require surgery "immediately," according to ESPN's Jake Trotter. He'll be at risk of re-injury for the rest of the season, though. Mayfield is a shaky Week 7 fantasy play in what figures to be a low-scoring game vs. Denver.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield injured his left shoulder in Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals. He’s playing through a partially torn labrum in that shoulder and said he dislocated it again today. “It feels like s***,” he said after the game. Mayfield was able to return to the Arizona game and thinks he’ll be able to play vs. Denver on Thursday night. We’ll keep an eye on him this week.
Today's Cardinals-Browns game is expected to see 20 mph sustained winds with gusts around 30 mph. We saw a couple of windy games in Cleveland disappoint for fantasy purposes last season. Today isn't quite as windy as those, but the passing and kicks games still figure to be impacted. We certainly wouldn't be benching guys like Kyler Murray or DeAndre Hopkins. But use the weather as a tiebreaker if you're considering more fringy passing-game options from these teams.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield has been playing through a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Mayfield suffered the injury in Week 2's win over the Texans. Surgery isn't needed "as of now," per Rapoport, and Mayfield hasn't missed a practice snap. He has, however, been playing with a shoulder harness, which might explain why he hasn't been very good the last couple of weeks. It's a situation to keep a close eye on going forward.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield appeared to injure his left arm while trying to make a tackle on an INT in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Texans. Stay tuned for an update. QB Case Keenum is Cleveland's backup.
Update: Mayfield returned on the next series.
Browns LG Joel Bitonio and WR KhaDarel Hodge have tested positive for COVID and are out for Sunday's Wild Card game vs. the Steelers. Bitonio, one of the best Gs in the league, is the big loss. Hodge's absence locks Donovan Peoples-Jones in as Cleveland's #3 WR for this one. HC Kevin Stefanski also has COVID and won't be available for the Steelers game. The Browns offense is in an extremely tough spot.
Browns WRs Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones and KhaDarel Hodge have been placed on the COVID list as high-risk close contacts and are out for Sunday's game against the Jets. Those are Cleveland's top 4 WRs. Marvin Hall is the only other WR on the active roster. Ja'Marcus Bradley and Derrick Willies are on the practice squad. We wouldn't mess with that situation in Week 16 fantasy lineups. TEs Austin Hooper, Harrison Bryant and David Njoku should be busy tomorrow. Baker Mayfield, meanwhile, goes from a solid QB1 play to a shaky QB2. Expect a run-heavy game plan from Cleveland.
Update: Bradley and Willies have been promoted from the practice squad.
