The Panthers are losing a pair of starting offensive linemen to extended injuries. RG Robert Hunt suffered a torn biceps in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. He'll have surgery and head to IR, according to ESPN's David Newton. That almost certainly will end Hunt's season. C Austin Corbett tore the MCL in his left knee. Newton reports that Corbett will also head to IR but could be designated to return.
Panthers QB Bryce Young threw for just 154 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs in Sunday's season-opening loss to the Jaguars. He managed just 18 completions among 35 attempts but did add 40 rushing yards on five attempts. Young supplied only 47 passing yards in the first half of a game his team trailed 20-3 at halftime before losing 26-10.
Carolina Panthers rookie WR Tetairoa McMillan (hamstring) returned to practice on Tuesday, according to Joe Person of The Athletic.
Panthers HC Dave Canales complimented the development of QB Bryce Young. “I think the pace of our offensive development, evolution is growing at the pace of Bryce,” Canales said via The Athletic. “And he’s showing such great mastery of what we’re doing that he’s allowing us to really push the envelope and do more things.” Recall that Young was drafted to a Panthers team with HC Frank Reich and OC Thomas Brown. Now, the 24-year-old (in July) will get the benefit of growing in Canales’ system.
