Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Bengals RB Joe Mixon is "week to week" with a "low-grade" ankle sprain. HC Zac Taylor said Friday that Mixon has "a chance" to play vs. the Packers this weekend, but this report has us less optimistic. Samaje Perine will step in as Cincinnati's lead back if Mixon misses time, with rookie Chris Evans in a change-of-pace role.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Bears RB Damien Williams suffered only a bruise to his quad late in Sunday's game and "should be OK." Williams would be taking over the backfield lead if David Montgomery is out with his knee injury. Rapoport adds that Montgomery "may miss some time," but we're still waiting on an official diagnosis.

Giants S Jabrill Peppers left Sunday's game against the Saints with a hamstring injury. Despite having already been ruled out for the game, Peppers went out for the coin toss to begin overtime. We'll see about his outlook for Week 5 and beyond, but Peppers had already seen his playing time dip to a level that made him tough to play in IDP lineups.

The Chargers have downgraded LB Kenneth Murray (ankle) to out or Monday night's game against the Raiders. Murray shouldn't have been in your IDP plans anyway, after playing just 51% of the snaps in Week 3. Kyzir White is the top option among Chargers LBs if you still have a spot to fill in your Week 4 lineup.

Packers CB Jaire Alexander left Sunday's win over Pittsburgh with an injury to his right shoulder. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that the team believes it's to the AC joint but that Alexander will undergo further testing to determine the severity. Losing Alexander for any time would leave the Green Bay defense without its top cover man.

Bears HC Matt Nagy said RB Damien Williams hurt his quad in Sunday's win over the Lions. We didn't notice the injury, but RB Khalil Herbert handled Chicago's final 3 carries of the game. We should learn more about Williams and RB David Montgomery on Monday.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis left in the 2nd quarter of Sunday night's game at New England with a leg injury. Davis went down holding his left quad and then needed 2 trainers to help him off the field. He was putting no weight on the affected leg. We'll see about the diagnosis for Davis.

Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs left Sunday's win over the Panthers. NFL.com reports he was merely dealing with back tightness, which doesn't sound like a serious issue. We'll see about his status or the Week 5 clash with the Giants.

49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo told reporters that he suffered a right calf injury in the 1st series of Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. "Tweaked a calf," Garoppolo said. "It hurt initially. I thought I could keep trying to go in. It just kept getting worse and worse, traveling down to the Achilles a little bit." Garoppolo doesn't believe he injured his Achilles but is set for an MRI on Monday. "I'm hopeful it'll just be a couple weeks or something like that," he added. It sounds like we should expect QB Trey Lance to start next weekend's game vs. the Cardinals. The 'Niners then get a Week 6 bye.

Browns S Ronnie Harrison sustained a concussion in Sunday's win over the Vikings. If he's not ready for the Week 5 visit to the L.A. Chargers, then Grant Delpit would likely get his 1st start.

Bears DL Akiem Hicks left Sunday's win over the Lions with a groin injury. We'll see whether the issue will cost him further time.

Bills LB Matt Milano left Sunday's win over the Texans with a hamstring injury. We'll see how serious the issue is, but it marks the 3rd straight season that Milano has injured a hamstring. If he is set to miss more time, A.J. Klein would likely step into full-time duty with Tremaine Edmunds. Klein had 5 games last year where he played 88+% of the snaps, as Milano dealt with multiple injuries. The veteran delivered good fantasy numbers over that span, including a stretch with 4.5 sacks over 3 weeks.

Falcons S Erik Harris left Sunday's loss to Washington with a calf injury. CB Isaiah Oliver left with a knee injury. We'll see whether either can make it back in time for next Sunday's game against the Jets in London. The travel schedule for that game could complicate the return path.

The Lions fear that EDGE Romeo Okwara tore his left Achilles' tendon in Sunday's loss to the Bears. If confirmed, that would end his season and take away Detroit's lead pass rusher. We'll watch for that confirmation.

The "initial belief based on early tests" is that Bears RB David Montgomery's knee injury is not major, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Montgomery hyperextended the knee and is set for an MRI on Monday. We should get a more concrete diagnosis then. Damien Williams will step in as Chicago's lead back if Montgomery misses time.

Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson is a healthy scratch for tonight's game against the Bucs -- despite RB James White's absence. That leaves just Damien Harris, Brandon Bolden and J.J. Taylor in New England's backfield.

7:29pm EDT 10/3/21

Bucs WR Antonio Brown (COVID) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Patriots. He’s already showed us his range of outcomes this season, exploding for a 5-121-1 line in the opener before a 1-17 Week 2 dud. Brown could pick up an extra target or 2 tonight with TE Rob Gronkowski out.

Patriots LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday night's game against the Buccaneers. S Kyle Dugger (hamstring) and LB Kyle Van Noy (groin) are active, despite entering the day questionable.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis is active for tonight's game against the Patriots. He turned up questionable late Saturday but is good to go.

Broncos QB Teddy Bridgewater is out for the start of the 2nd half of Sunday's game vs. the Ravens for a concussion check. QB Drew Lock has replaced him. We'll update Bridgewater's status when we know more.

Update: Bridgewater has been ruled out with a concussion.
