Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Buccaneers have downgraded EDGE Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder) to out for Sunday night's game against the Patriots. Joe Tryon-Shoyinka will start in his place.
Bears EDGE Khalil Mack is active for today's game against the Lions. He entered questionable with a foot injury and could be limited vs. his usual effectiveness. But Mack is available if you planned to play him in your IDP lineup.
There's a "chance" Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) returns for Week 5, although it's "more likely" he's out until Week 6, according to ESPN's David Newton. McCaffrey went through a stretching routine prior to today's game vs. the Cowboys, per Newton. We'll see if McCaffrey is able to get on the practice field this coming week.
Lions EDGE Romeo Okwara (shoulder) and DL Michael Brockers (shoulder) are active for today's game against the Bears.
Cowboys DE Randy Gregory (knee) is active for today's game against the Panthers. He's not a high-end IDP option but is available if he was in your plans.
Vikings OLB Anthony Barr (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Browns. That leaves Nick Vigil in place as the #2 LB for Minnesota and a strong option or our IDP lineups.
Jets TE Tyler Kroft (ribs) is active for today’s game vs. the Titans. With 6 catches on 9 targets through 3 weeks, he’s not a viable fantasy play.
Jets WR Jamison Crowder (groin) is active for today’s game against the Titans. Crowder figures to step in as New York’s primary slot receiver, but we wouldn’t use him in fantasy lineups in his 2021 debut.
Washington RB Antonio Gibson (shin) is active for today’s game vs. the Falcons. Gibson was added to the injury report and sidelined on Thursday but returned to a limited workout on Friday. We haven’t heard anything about his role being scaled back today, but he does come with at least a little more risk than usual.
Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Browns. He got in 3 limited practices this week and “looked pretty good” on Friday, per HC Mike Zimmer. Cook said Friday that his ankle is at 90%. It’s possible that he cedes a bit more work than usual to RB Alexander Mattison today, but Cook remains a strong RB1.
Colts TE Jack Doyle (back) is active for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. He returned to a limited practice on Friday after missing the previous 2 days. Doyle at less than 100% should be nowhere near fantasy lineups.
Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. He was limited in practice all week due to “a little fluid build-up” in that knee, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Taylor will also be without stud G Quenton Nelson today. See where he sits in the Week 4 RB Rankings.
Colts QB Carson Wentz (ankles) is active for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. He remained limited in practice all week and still isn’t at 100%. Wentz is a low-end QB2 in fantasy football.
Bears QB Andy Dalton (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Lions. QB Justin Fields will make his 2nd career start. The 1st was a disaster, but he’s in a much better spot at home for Detroit today. Still, Fields is only an option in 2-QB leagues and DFS tournaments.
Chargers LB Kenneth Murray suffered an ankle injury in Saturday's practice and is questionable for Monday night's game against the Raiders. A healthy Murray played just 51% of the snaps in Week 3, so he should be easy to leave out of your Week 4 IDP lineup. Kyzir White becomes a better play, after leading Chargers LBs in snaps last week.
The Buccaneers have downgraded CB Carlton Davis to questionable for Sunday night's game against the Patriots. He's listed with rib and abdominal injuries, but it sounds like the ab injury is the more significant. If Davis sits, it'll leave Tampa without its top 3 corners. Sean Murphy-Bunting is already on IR with an elbow injury, and the Bucs ruled Jamel Dean out for the game with a knee injury. Richard Sherman is now expected to start, just a few days after signing with the team. The whole situation can only be good news for New England wideouts.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (ribs) is expected to be ready to play when he's eligible to come off IR in Week 6, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. QB Jacoby Brissett was serviceable in last week's overtime loss to the Raiders and will start vs. the Colts today and the Bucs next week. But a healthy Tagovailoa should be an upgrade over Brissett the rest of the way.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Chiefs WR Josh Gordon impressed in his 1st week with the team and could be promoted to the active roster next week. "He was described looking like a No. 1 receiver, 230 pounds and fast," Rapoport writes. "One source said you would never know he's 30. He has really flashed in practice." It's an encouraging report on a guy who hasn't played in an NFL game since December 2019. We'll continue to keep a close eye on Gordon but would still only be stashing him in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Rams RB Darrell Henderson (ribs) will play vs. the Cardinals today. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. There's some risk that Henderson's workload is scaled back coming off this injury, but we like him as an upside RB2 in today's plus matchup.
Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (knee) is expected to play vs. the Dolphins today, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "He had a little fluid build up in his knee, but it was more nagging than anything else," Rapoport adds. "He’ll be fine."
