Darnell Mooney Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney (shoulder) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Panthers. It’s a significant loss. Mooney ranks second among Falcons in targets, catches, receiving yards, and receiving TDs. WR KhaDarel Hodge figures to pick up most of Mooney’s snaps today but would be a desperation fantasy start. WRs Drake London and Ray-Ray McCloud and TE Kyle Pitts could also get target boosts.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney appears unlikely to play in Sunday's game against the Panthers. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that he's "considered a long shot ... not ruled out, but an uphill battle." We'll check the official status when inactives come out, but plan to leave Mooney out of your Week 18 lineups.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney (shoulder) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Panthers. He was added to the injury report on Thursday and then did not practice on Friday. We’ll look for more information on Mooney and get Atlanta’s inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. Mooney will play if at all possible with the Falcons’ season on the line this weekend.

Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. posted modest numbers in Sunday night's loss to the Commanders. He finished with 223 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT on 19-of-35 passing. That's 54.3% completions and 6.4 yards per attempt against a Washington defense that entered the game ranked just 20th in pass DVOA. But Penix did pilot a scoring drive late in the fourth quarter to tie the game and then helped set up what would have been the game-winning FG attempt at the end of regulation (which fell short).

The Falcons are benching QB Kirk Cousins and going to QB Michael Penix, according to both NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter. Atlanta stuck with Cousins for too long, losing four of the last five and falling out of first place in the NFC South. They beat the Raiders on Monday night in spite of Cousins, who completed just 11 of 17 passes for 112 yards, one TD, and one INT. Penix obviously lacks Cousins' experience but should prove to be a big upgrade in terms of arm talent. We'd still expect the Falcons to be a run-heavy offense going forward, especially as big favorites over the Giants this weekend.

Falcons WR Drake London had 10 targets against the Vikings, but was only able to haul in 70 yards. He also didn’t find the end zone for the fourth game in a row. His teammates had better fantasy days with Darnell Mooney catching six of seven targets for 142 yards while Ray-Ray McCloud caught eight of 11 targets for 98 yards.

Falcons TE Kyle Pitts was held without a catch in Sunday’s loss to the Chargers. He's now been held to 1 or fewer catches in three of his past four games.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney (Achilles) was left off the final Week 13 injury report. He was limited on Wednesday, a full-go on Thursday, and then took a rest day on Friday. Barring further updates, expect Mooney to play his usual role against the Chargers on Sunday.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney (Achilles) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He suffered a hamstring injury prior to Atlanta's Week 12 bye, but that isn't listed on this week's injury report. This Achilles was on the Week 11 injury report but didn't keep Mooney from playing. We're expecting him to play against the Chargers this weekend but will track his status over the next few days.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney's hamstring injury is not believed to be serious, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Mooney gets a well-timed Week 12 bye, and it sounds like he'll have a chance to play come Week 13. We'll keep you posted on his status when the Falcons get back to work next week.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. Atlanta is down 31-6, so it'd be surprising to see Mooney back out there. We'll look for more information on the severity of the injury.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney (Achilles) is not listed on the final Week 11 injury report. He was added to the injury report on Thursday and limited in Friday’s practice. But Mooney is in no danger of missing this weekend’s game vs. the Broncos. He checks in as a WR3 in that difficult matchup.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney was added to the injury report with an Achilles and limited in practice on Thursday. There's no further information on his status right now. We'll see if Mooney practices on Friday and how he's listed on the final injury report for this weekend's game vs. the Broncos.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney recorded 5 catches, 88 yards, and 1 score in a Week 9 win over Dallas. Mooney saw a team-high 9 targets – a huge 37.5% share – boosted by the first-half departure of Drake London (hip).

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney led the team in receiving catching five of seven targets including a TD. With QB Kirk Cousins throwing four TDs on the day, Mooney was the beneficiary of that strong passing attack from Cousins.

Falcons WR Darnell Mooney recorded his first career two-TD game in Thursday night's 36-30 overtime win over the Bucs. The first was an impressive 24-yarder in between multiple defenders. Mooney went up to get the ball and absorbed contact before tumbling into the end zone. His second TD came from 12 yards out. Mooney ran a quick out, spun away from his defender, and then beat the angle of another defender to get into the paint. Those were two of Mooney's nine catches for 105 yards on the night. He could have had an even bigger game but had an ugly drop in the fourth quarter for what could have gone for a 36-yard TD.
