Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Saints WR Jarvis Landry racked up the most targets (9), receptions (7) and receiving yards (114) on the team in Sunday's dramatic victory over the Falcons. He edged Michael Thomas by a target and watched Thomas snag both of the team's receiving TDs. But each vet finished well ahead of rookie WR Chris Olave's 3 targets. TE Juwan Johnson ranked 3rd on the team with 5 looks.
Saints QB Jameis Winston made his 2022 preseason debut on Friday night and looked sharp. He went 4-of-4 for 59 yards on a 9-play, 75-yard TD drive. Winston connected with WR Jarvis Landry for 20- and 15-yard gains and found WR Chris Olave for 19 yards. That foot injury that cost Winston a couple of weeks earlier this month looks like a non-issue. Consider Winston a QB2 to start the season -- but there's certainly spot-start QB1 potential with this revamped WR corps.
The Saints are signing WR Jarvis Landry, according to insider Jordan Schultz. No word yet on the terms of the deal. Landry, who's from Louisiana and played college ball at LSU, returns home to join WRs Michael Thomas and 1st-round rookie Chris Olave. All 3 guys are position-versatile and figure to move around the formation. But, in what projects as a run-leaning offense with questionable QB play, it's not an exciting spot for Landry's 2022 fantasy value. The 29-year-old is coming off an injury-riddled 2021 season that saw him post a 52-570-2 line across 12 games.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Saints and Chiefs have "expressed the most interest" in WR Jarvis Landry since the Browns released him. We'll see where this one goes.
The Browns have granted WR Jarvis Landry the release he requested, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Landry had been given permission to seek a trade, but that clearly didn't go anywhere. Now he's free to sign wherever he wants. NFL Network reporters have mentioned the Chiefs, Bills and Packers as early potential suitors.
The Browns have given WR Jarvis Landry permission to seek a trade, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. This, of course, comes on the same day that Cleveland acquired Amari Cooper to be its new #1 WR. Landry battled through injuries last season but should still have plenty to offer at just 29 years old. We'll see if he's dealt or ultimately released. Landry's departure from Cleveland would mean more opportunity for WRs Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz.
Browns WR Jarvis Landry has been activated from the COVID list. He should be back for Saturday's game vs. the Packers. Landry saw 10 targets in both of his last 2 games, so he's worth considering as at least a WR3 in fantasy lineups.
Browns TE Austin Hooper has been activated from the COVID list. He'll be back for Saturday's game vs. the Packers. WR Jarvis Landry remains on the COVID list as of Wednesday afternoon.
Browns QB Baker Mayfield, QB Case Keenum, WR Jarvis Landry and TE Austin Hooper will not be activated from the COVID list for tonight's game vs. the Raiders, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. So QB Nick Mullens will get the start for Cleveland. His top 2 WRs figure to be Donovan Peoples-Jones and Rashard Higgins. David Njoku should top the TE depth chart. We'll see if TE Harrison Bryant (ankle) is able to play. Expect a run-heavy game plan featuring Nick Chubb from the Browns.
The Raiders at Browns game originally scheduled to kick off at 4:30 pm ET on Saturday is being moved to Monday due to the rash of COVID positives on the Browns, according to insider Josina Anderson. Even that is probably still subject to change based on more positive COVID tests in Cleveland. We'll see if any of the Browns currently on the COVID list -- namely Baker Mayfield, Case Keenum, Jarvis Landry and Austin Hooper -- are activated before Monday. But, as of now, we'd still plan on not having those guys in Week 15 fantasy lineups.
Update: Raiders-Browns will kick off at 5 pm ET on Monday, per Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.
The Browns on Tuesday placed 8 players on the COVID list. That included WR Jarvis Landry and TE Austin Hooper. ESPN's Tom Pelissero reports that all 8 tested positive, which means all will almost certainly miss Saturday's game against the Raiders. The group also includes LT Jedrick Wills and RG Wyatt Teller. That further depletes an O-line already operating without RT Jack Conklin (IR).
Browns TE David Njoku has been placed on the COVID list. That makes him unlikely to be available for Sunday's game vs. the Ravens. Njoku has averaged 3.3 targets per game this season, so his absence would be a slight boost to guys like Austin Hooper and Jarvis Landry.
Browns WR Jarvis Landry was in and out of Sunday's win over the Lions with more knee trouble. He ended up playing 65% of Cleveland's offensive snaps. "I think it is probably the same [knee injury], but I do not know how [significant]," Stefanski said afterward. "We will find out tomorrow what that means." We'll update Landry's status for Week 12 and beyond when we know more. The Browns have a much-needed Week 13 bye.
Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports that the Browns and WR Odell Beckham Jr. have negotiated an end to his time in Cleveland. The team reportedly plans to waive Beckham on Friday. If Beckham passes through waivers without getting claimed, he'd then be free to sign with any team. Given that no franchise apparently made a solid enough offer -- or any offer? -- to acquire Beckham and his contract before the trade deadline, it's certainly no lock that he'll be claimed on waivers. We'd certainly bet on Beckham landing somewhere with opportunity, though. That makes him worth holding on fantasy rosters where possible for now. His pending departure leaves targets available in Cleveland, with Jarvis Landry and Donovan Peoples-Jones likely the primary beneficiaries.
Insider Michael Silver reports that Browns HC Kevin Stefanski told his team today that WR Odell Beckham is "essentially not on the team right now." Stefanski didn't reveal much in his press conference, only confirming that Beckham was excused from Wednesday's practice and that the 2 haven't spoken over the past 24 hours. We'll continue to keep an eye on this situation, but it sure seems like Beckham's time with the Browns might be over. His absence would leave Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones as Cleveland's top 3 WRs. (Peoples-Jones is expected to return to practice from his groin injury today.)
Browns WR Jarvis Landry (knee) is not listed on the final injury report. He only got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday but is evidently in no danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Steelers. Landry is a low-end WR3 for that one. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) has been ruled out.
Browns WR Jarvis Landry (knee) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. He said beforehand that he expects to play vs. the Steelers this weekend. But between his knee injury and Cleveland's QB situation, Landry is a shaky WR3.
Browns WR Jarvis Landry said Thursday that his injured knee is "feeling a lot better" and that he "for sure" will play vs. the Steelers this weekend. Landry missed Wednesday's practice but is expected to be out there on Thursday.
Browns WR Jarvis Landry (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. He appeared to injure his knee late in Thursday night's win over the Broncos, but we never got any details from the team. HC Kevin Stefanski did say Wednesday that this latest issue isn't related to the MCL injury that Landry suffered in Week 2. We'll see if he gets back on the practice field tomorrow.
The forecast for tonight's Broncos-Browns game calls for sustained winds up to 20 mph and gusts around 30 mph. That's enough to impact some longer throws and kicks -- and another reason to expect this to be a low-scoring game.
