Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Patriots WR Tyquan Thornton (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. He’s only worth considering in DFS tournaments.

11:32am EST 1/1/23

Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. Henry got in 3 limited practices this week after getting knocked out of last week’s loss to the Bengals. It’s unclear if he’s ready to play his usual role today, leaving him in TE2 territory in the Week 17 Rankings.

11:31am EST 1/1/23

Saints WR Chris Olave (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Eagles. The rookie was sidelined with this injury last week and limited in practice all this week. Consider Olave just a WR3 against Philly’s 9th-ranked WR defense.

11:30am EST 1/1/23

Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Chiefs. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so it’s safe to assume that Jeudy won’t be at 100% today. See where Jeudy sits in the Week 17 WR Rankings.

Bengals TE Hayden Hurst (calf) put in a full week of practice and isn't listed on the final injury report for Monday night's game vs. the Bills. He'll play in that one after missing the past 3 games. Hurst has averaged 5.5 targets, 4.2 catches and 35 yards over 11 healthy games this season, ranking 8th among TEs in PPR points over that span. But the matchup against Buffalo's 2nd-ranked TE defense leaves Hurst outside our top-12 TEs for the week.

The Raiders are expected to explore trade options for QB Derek Carr this offseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport adds that there are "scenarios" in which Carr remains with Vegas but believes he'll "almost certainly" be playing elsewhere in 2023. Carr's $32.9 million base salary for 2023 becomes fully guaranteed 3 days after the Super Bowl, so a move figures to happen by then. Carr never looked comfortable in HC Josh McDaniels' offense this season. His 60.8% completion rate is his worst since his 2014 rookie campaign; his 7.0 yards per attempt his worst since 2017. Carr turns 32 in March.

The Jets do not plan on shopping QB Zach Wilson this offseason, and the former #2 pick remains in the team's long-term plans, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "The team views Wilson as an incredibly hard worker, a good teammate and very smart," Rapoport writes. "He has handled his demotions well and kept working." A decent trade offer could change the Jets' plans, of course. We'll see what else they do at QB this offseason. QB Mike White is set to hit free agency in March.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is expected to be available for next weekend's regular-season finale against the Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. "Whether and how much Hurts plays in Week 18 will be heavily influenced by what happens Sunday against the Saints," Schefter adds. If the Eagles lose today, they'll need to win next week to clinch the NFC's #1 seed, so we'd likely see a full game from Hurts. If the Eagles win today and lock up that #1 seed, Hurts might get some action as a playoff tuneup but very likely wouldn't play the entire game. Schefter adds that Hurts threw well in practice this week and that the Eagles "have no worries about Hurts' availability and effectiveness for the playoffs."

The Jaguars have no plans to rest starters against the Texans today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. "It's full steam ahead," a Jaguars official told ESPN. "Everybody's ready and everybody's playing." The AFC South title comes down to next weekend's game vs. the Titans, but the Jaguars do still have about a 6% chance at a Wild Card spot, so today's game isn't meaningless. We're projecting Jaguars players for full playing time.

Bears WR Chase Claypool (knee) is expected to play vs. the Lions today, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Claypool has been out since Week 13. He's not a viable fantasy option, but his return is a boost for QB Justin Fields.

Saints WR Chris Olave (hamstring) is expected to play vs. the Eagles today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Olave got in 3 limited practices this week after missing Week 16. The hamstring adds some risk to Olave, who ranks just 35th in fantasy points per game over his last 5 healthy outings.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett (hand) is expected to play vs. the Jets today. He'll do so with 10 screws and a plate in the left hand he broke 2 weeks ago. That -- plus the matchup against the Jets' top-ranked WR defense -- leaves Lockett as a risky Week 17 fantasy play.

49ers QB Trey Lance underwent a 2nd surgery on his right ankle on December 30, the team announced. This procedure removed hardware from the initial September surgery that was causing irritation. The 49ers expect Lance to be ready for OTAs. His health and standing on the 49ers' depth chart will be 1 of the bigger storylines of this coming offseason.

Seahawks WR Marquise Goodwin (shoulder, wrist) has been placed on IR. He's out for Sunday's game vs. the Jets and isn't eligible to return until the NFC Championship.

Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) is expected to play vs. the Dolphins, ESPN's Dan Graziano reports. Henry was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable. Miami ranks 29th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to TEs, and New England will be without TE Jonnu Smith (concussion). But the knee issue adds enough risk to keep Henry out of TE1 consideration.

Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Dolphins, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano. Stevenson has been playing through this injury for a few weeks now. The bigger concern for his Week 17 fantasy outlook is the return of RB Damien Harris. See where Stevenson sits in the Week 17 RB Rankings.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Rams TE Tyler Higbee (elbow) will play vs. the Chargers. Higbee only got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, but there never seemed to be much doubt about his availability for this one.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) "will test his injury pre-game to see if he can play vs. the Vikings," ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Watson only got in a limited practice on Friday this week and "didn’t take any live repetitions," according to Schefter. Watson will obviously carry elevated risk if he ends up giving it a go. We'll get Green Bay's inactives around 3 pm ET on Sunday.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (toe) is expected to play Sunday against the Texans. He's officially questionable but has been listed that way every game since suffering the injury at Detroit in Week 13 and has played through it every week. HC Doug Pederson said earlier this week that he planned to play this like any other game, despite Jacksonville's Week 18 rematch with the Titans carrying greater playoff implications. Lawrence remains high in our Week 17 fantasy football rankings.

The Giants are activating S Xavier McKinney from IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Colts, and he's expected to play, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. That's a shift vs. Friday, when HC Brian Daboll said he didn't expect McKinney to return. The safety has been out since suffering a hand injury in a 4-weeler accident during the team's Week 9 bye. We'll watch for further word on McKinney's role against Indy, but we've already added him to the Week 17 IDP rankings for a high-upside matchup.
