Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Texans QB Tyrod Taylor "is believed to have suffered possible torn ligaments" in his left wrist. That's awkwardly worded, and Rapoport adds that Houston has yet to rule Taylor out for even Week 14. But the injury is at least a mark against a veteran who played so poorly in Sunday's shutout loss to the Colts that he got yanked for rookie Davis Mills. HC David Culley said Monday morning that no decision has been made on the Week 14 QB starter yet, but it's tough to see what Houston would gain by going back to Taylor. This decision, of course, carries minimal fantasy importance.
Update: Rapoport reports the team now considers Taylor "week-to-week" and expects to start Mills in Week 14.
Chargers HC Brandon Staley says EDGE Joey Bosa cleared concussion testing during Sunday's win over the Bengals, the Los Angeles Times. Despite no concussion, Staley said he chose to hold Bosa out the rest of the game for the safety of the player, given Bosa's concussion history. (He suffered 2 in the 2nd half of last season.) That's a refreshing decision in favor of a player's safety. We'd bet on Bosa being back on the field for next Sunday's game against the Giants, but we'll watch to confirm.
The Panthers fired OC Joe Brady. It's a quick fall for a guy who was getting head-coaching interviews last offseason. Brady's Panthers finished 17th in Football Outsiders' offensive DVOA last year and are currently sitting 29th in this year's rankings. QB play, of course, has been a problem in Carolina. Senior offensive assistant Jeff Nixon will step in as interim OC, according to The Athletic's Joe Person. Nixon's only OC experience came under current Panthers HC Matt Rhule at Baylor from 2017 to 2019.
Bengals QB Joe Burrow dislocated his right pinky in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's loss to the Chargers. He was in obvious discomfort but was able to play through the issue. Burrow said after the game that he doesn't expect to miss time going forward, but it'll be a situation to monitor leading into Sunday's game vs. the 49ers.
Raiders RB Kenyan Drake broke his ankle in Sunday's loss to Washington and will miss the rest of the season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Drake has averaged 5.1 carries and 2.6 targets behind Josh Jacobs over the last 8 games, so his absence could mean a few extra touches for Jacobs. RB Jalen Richard landed on the COVID list on Sunday morning, so we'll see when he's cleared to return. RB Peyton Barber also figures to be active for Vegas the rest of the way.
Vikings WR Adam Thielen suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Lions, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That usually means multiple missed games. Thielen will have further testing Monday to determine his return timeline. With Thielen out for most of the game, WR Justin Jefferson racked up 14 targets, TE Tyler Conklin 9 and WR K.J. Osborn 7. Conklin and Osborn will be in fantasy consideration as long as Thielen remains out. Minnesota gets just 3 days off before hosting the Steelers on Thursday night.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Washington TE Logan Thomas "likely" tore both the ACL and MCL in his left knee in Sunday's win over the Raiders. That would obviously end the TE's season and potentially challenge the start of his 2022 campaign. We'll see how he progresses through the offseason. TE Ricky Seals-Jones appeared close to returning this week and would likely re-assume lead TE duties if healthy in Week 14. Rookie John Bates figures to factor in as well.
Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey suffered an injury late in Sunday's loss to the Steelers. HC John Harbaugh declined to specify the injury afterward but said "it could be a while" before Humphrey returns to the field. We'll watch for specifics on Baltimore's top corner.
Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says Humphrey is "suspected" to be out for the season with a shoulder injury.
Niners CB Emmanuel Moseley left Sunday's game at Seattle with an ankle injury. We'll see whether he'll miss further time. San Francisco heads to Cincinnati next Sunday.
Seahawks S Jamal Adams left Sunday's game against the 49ers with a shoulder injury. We'll see about the severity heading into Seattle's Week 14 visit to Houston.
Raiders LB Denzel Perryman left in the 2nd half of Sunday's loss to Washington with an ankle injury. We'll see about the severity heading into Week 14.
Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) is active for tonight's game vs. the Broncos. He was added to the injury report and did not practice on Friday due to a stomach bug. But we’re not expecting that to impact Edwards-Helaire’s usage tonight. He’s a solid RB2 play.
Washington TE Logan Thomas hurt his left knee in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Raiders. He was able to limp off the field under his own power. Stay tuned for an update.
Update: Thomas was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game.
Texans HC David Culley said after Sunday's loss to the Colts that QB Tyrod Taylor hyperextended his left wrist. Taylor was yanked in the 3rd quarter and never announced with an injury. We'll see if he's available for Week 14 -- and whether Houston goes back to Taylor or with rookie QB Davis Mills. Either way, it's a situation to avoid in fantasy lineups.
Giants QB Mike Glennon was evaluated for a concussion after Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. Glennon never exited the game but must have experienced symptoms afterward. We'll track his status this coming week, with QB Daniel Jones (neck) iffy for next Sunday's game vs. the Chargers. Next up on New York's depth chart is Jake Fromm, who was just signed from the Bills practice squad this past week.
Raiders RB Kenyan Drake was carted to the locker room after taking a big hit in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game vs. Washington. He was quickly ruled out with an ankle injury. We'll update Drake's status when we know more, but this looks like a likely long-term injury.
Jets WR Corey Davis aggravated his groin injury in the 2nd half of Sunday's game vs. the Eagles. He's officially questionable to return, but we don't expect to see him back out there.
Eagles RB Miles Sanders appeared to injure his right ankle in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Jets. He was in obvious pain but was able to limp off under his own power. This is the same ankle Sanders hurt earlier this season. Stay tuned for an update.
Chargers EDGE Joey Bosa left Sunday's game against the Bengals with a concussion. It's a particularly worrisome situation for Bosa, who suffered a pair of concussions last November and December. We'll see how he fares this week, but you should probably expect him to miss at least the Week 14 game.
Texans QB Tyrod Taylor was benched in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Colts. He went 5 of 13 for 45 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT before getting yanked. QB Davis Mills will finish this one out for the Texans. We'll see who gets the nod in Week 14, but it's obviously a situation to avoid in fantasy football.
