Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (calf) has been designated to return from IR. He's now eligible to practice, but we'll see if he's ready to play vs. the Vikings this weekend. Gallup is about 6.5 weeks removed from what was supposed to be a 3-5 week injury.

The Cardinals on Monday activated EDGE Chandler Jones from the COVID list. Their lead pass rusher missed the past 2 games but should be available for Thursday night's clash with the Packers. Arizona also activated DE Zach Allen from the COVID list.

As expected, the Seahawks have activated RB Rashaad Penny from IR. That makes him available to play against the Saints tonight. We certainly expect him to factor into the backfield work. Penny would get an upside boost if Alex Collins turns up inactive. He's questionable with a groin injury, but HC Pete Carroll said after Saturday's practice that Collins "looked good today, so he's ready to go," according to the team website. We'd bet on Collins leading the backfield tonight after he performed surprisingly well at Pittsburgh.

The Packers have placed WR Davante Adams on the COVID list. With their Week 8 game coming Thursday night in Arizona, that almost certainly means Adams will miss the game, regardless of his particular situation. That leaves Green Bay without the guy who has drawn 33% of Aaron Rodgers' pass attempts to date. It also leaves Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard as the top wideouts, with Equanimeous St. Brown likely factoring in as well. We'll see whether WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling is ready to come off IR.

Dolphins RB Malcolm Brown will be placed on IR with a quad injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Falcons, HC Brian Flores said Monday. Brown will be out at least the next 3 weeks vs. the Bills, Texans and Ravens. He's played 28% of Miami's offensive snaps and averaged 4.7 carries and .7 targets per game, so his absence leaves behind a little extra work for RBs Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed.

Eagles RB Miles Sanders suffered a low-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Raiders, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Sanders is still undergoing tests to determine the severity, but Rapoport suggests that it's not a serious injury. We'll update you when we know more.

Browns RB Nick Chubb (calf) is expected back for Sunday's game vs. the Steelers, barring a setback in practice this week, according to insider Josina Anderson. We'll track Chubb's progress over the next few days. Despite RB D'Ernest Johnson's impressive Week 7, Chubb should return as Cleveland's feature back.

Texans QB Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) will return to practice on Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. HC David Culley confirmed that Taylor remains the team's starter when healthy. He was off to a strong start before going down about midway through Week 2, completing 70.5% of his passes and averaging 9.5 yards per attempt. Taylor still isn't much of a fantasy option but should at least be good news for WR Brandin Cooks.

Bears HC Matt Nagy tested positive for COVID. We'll see if he can get cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the 49ers. OC Bill Lazor has been calling plays for Chicago the past few weeks, so there's not much of a fantasy impact here.

Washington WR Dyami Brown is expected to miss Sunday's game vs. the Broncos with a "minor" knee injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Brown is getting an MRI on Monday, but it sounds like the team expects him back after the Week 9 bye. We'll see if Washington gets WRs Curtis Samuel and/or Cam Sims back this weekend.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan was rather unenthusiastic when asked whether QB Jimmy Garoppolo will remain his starter in Week 8. “I would guess so," Shanahan said. "We had two QBs hurting this week. Jimmy was able to come back and play. We'll see if Trey [Lance] can next week, we're still not sure yet, but I got a lot of things to figure out.” Garoppolo mustered just 181 passing yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs in Sunday night's loss to the Colts -- although, in his defense, the game was played in messy weather. Regardless, expect to see Lance back under center for San Francisco at some point this season. We'll see when rookie is ready to return from his knee injury.

Jets QB Zach Wilson is expected to miss 2 weeks with a "minor" PCL sprain, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's relatively good news on what looked like a more serious injury. Wilson, of course, has not been a fantasy factor this season. But backup QB Mike White is a downgrade for the offense.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter puts Wilson's timetable at 2-4 weeks. We'll monitor the rookie's rehab.

The Jets entered Sunday's game against the Patriots with LB C.J. Mosley (hamstring) inactive and Jarrad Davis (ankle) not yet back from IR. The defense then watched LBs Jamien Sherwood (calf), Quincy Williams (concussion) and Blake Cashman (groin) leave the game. We'll have to watch the whole situation to see who's in for next Sunday's game against the Bengals. If healthy, Mosley should remain a full-time starter. Davis' return would complicate the outlook for Williams, though.

Dolphins LB Jerome Baker left Sunday's loss to the Falcons with a knee injury. ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques reports that Baker already had an MRI and that it "came back clean." We'll see about the LB's availability for Week 8 at Buffalo. Sam Eguavoen wound up leading Miami LBs with 84% snap share against Atlanta.

Texans HC David Culley said after Sunday's loss to the Cardinals that LB Christian Kirksey suffered a thumb fracture. That injury has tended to cost players at least the next game but often no more beyond that in positions that don't need to throw or catch passes. We'll see about Kirksey's specific outlook.

"Early indications are that [Raiders RB Josh Jacobs] avoided a major injury" in Sunday's win over the Eagles, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. We should learn more tomorrow, but Jacobs gets a Week 8 bye to heal up.

Panthers HC Matt Rhule said after Sunday's loss to the Giants that Sam Darnold remains his starting QB. "Just felt like we needed some sort of a spark," HC Matt Rhule said of the decision to bench Darnold. "Not that anything was necessarily him, I think it was all of them. Hoping P.J. [Walker] would go out there and make a run or do something to kind of get us going. Sam will be our quarterback next week, he'll be our quarterback moving forward." Darnold won't be a bankable fantasy play in Week 8, even in a plus matchup vs. Atlanta.

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs suffered a chest injury in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Eagles and is questionable to return. Stay tuned for an update.

Update: Jacobs has been ruled out.

Jets QB Zach Wilson will "likely miss time" with his knee injury, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, "but the tests will determine how much." Rapoport adds that Wilson is believed to be dealing with a PCL injury. We should learn more after the rookie's MRI. Backup QB Mike White went 20-of-32 for 202 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs in relief of Wilson in New England.

Eagles RB Miles Sanders hurt his right ankle in the 1st quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Raiders. He was carted back to the locker room, so we're not expecting to see him again today. We'll update his status when we know more.

Update: Sanders has been ruled out.
