Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
49ers QB Trey Lance (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. QB Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) was limited and is expected to be a full-go later this week, HC Kyle Shanahan said. Garoppolo remains in line to start Sunday night's game vs. the Colts.
Trade talks between the Texans and Dolphins for QB Deshaun Watson are "heating up," according to insider Aaron Wilson. The 2 sides are hoping to get a deal done before the November 2 trade deadline. Watson will waive his no-trade clause for a move to Miami, which has been his preferred destination all along. Houston, meanwhile, is looking for three 1st-round picks and two 2nd-round picks or players, per Wilson. We'll see where this goes -- and then when Watson is cleared to play amid all his legal issues. We'd still only stash Watson on fantasy rosters at this point if you have a roster spot to play with.
Browns WR Odell Beckham (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game against the Broncos. He didn't practice at all this week. Insider Josina Anderson reports that Beckham suffered a Grade 3 AC joint injury -- the most severe -- in last week's loss to the Cardinals. He's reportedly going to try to play through it and is a game-time decision for tomorrow night. Between his shoulder injury and QB Baker Mayfield's absence, Beckham is an extremely shaky Week 7 fantasy play.
Broncos QB Teddy Bridgewater (foot, quad) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game vs. the Browns. He was officially limited in practice all week. Bridgewater is expected to play tomorrow, but it's safe to assume that he won't be at 100%.
Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quad) did not practice on Wednesday. He reportedly avoided a significant injury but looks iffy for Sunday night's game vs. the 49ers.
Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (quad) did not practice on Wednesday. He played just 57% of Kansas City's offensive snaps last week -- but posted a 9-76-1 line anyway. Barring a setback, he'll be out there in Sunday's game vs. the Titans.
Bucs WR Antonio Brown missed Wednesday's practice with a sprained ankle. It's the 1st we've heard of the injury, but Brown's availability for this weekend's game vs. the Bears is now in at least some doubt. Check back tomorrow for another update on his status.
Ravens RB Latavius Murray (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. There's been no update from the team on his injury, but Dr. David Chao believes Murray has a high-ankle sprain based on video review. If that's the case, Murray won't play vs. the Bengals this weekend. That'd leave the backfield to Devonta Freeman, Le'Veon Bell and potentially Ty'Son Williams.
Ravens WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) missed practice on Wednesday. We're not expecting him to play vs. the Bengals this weekend at this point. With Watkins out last week, WR Rashod Bateman played 65% of Baltimore's offensive snaps and tied for the team lead with 6 targets.
Washington WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. He ended up playing 95% of the offensive snaps in last week's loss to the Chiefs. McLaurin should play vs. the Packers on Sunday, but it'd be nice to see him practice the next 2 days.
Washington RB Antonio Gibson (shin) did not practice on Wednesday. It's unclear if he'll continue playing through the stress fracture in his shin on Sunday vs. the Packers. His absence would mean increased roles for RBs J.D. McKissic and Jaret Patterson.
Washington released K Dustin Hopkins and signed K Chris Blewitt. Hopkins missed 2 XPs and 2 FGs over the first 6 games of this season. Blewitt has yet to attempt a regular-season kick and isn't a viable Week 7 fantasy option.
Giants WR Kenny Golladay (knee) remained sidelined on Wednesday. It's not a good start for his chances of returning for this weekend's game vs. the Panthers. We'll see if Golladay is able to get back on the practice field tomorrow.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. At this point, fantasy owners should be assuming he'll miss this weekend's game vs. the Panthers. We'll continue to monitor Barkley's progress.
Browns HC Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday that QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) is out for Thursday night's game vs. the Broncos and that QB Case Keenum will get the start. "Baker obviously wants to be out there but just couldn’t make it on a short week," Stefanski said. “We know he will continue to do everything in his power to return as quickly as possible." We'll see if Mayfield can make it back for Week 8. Keenum, meanwhile, will make his 1st start since Week 17 of the 2019 season. The 33-year-old has 62 career starts under his belt and sports a 62.3% completion rate, 6.9 yards-per-attempt average and 75 TDs vs. 47 INTs. Keenum is a capable backup but still a downgrade from Mayfield.
The Saints on Tuesday designated DE Marcus Davenport (pectoral) and LB Kwon Alexander (elbow) to return from IR. That doesn't yet restore them to the active roster. The team will have this week and the next 2 to decide on that for each player. But the designation suggests the Saints believe each player is close to being ready. Davenport should work his way quickly back into the starting lineup upon his return. Alexnader, on the other hand, might have to watch rookie LB Pete Werner take his job. We'll see how that situation develops over the next few weeks.
Browns WR Odell Beckham (shoulder) did not practice on Tuesday. He played through this injury last week, so we're expecting him to be out there for Thursday night's game vs. Denver. But check back tomorrow for another update.
Saints WR Tre'Quan Smith (hamstring) has been designated to return from IR. He's been out since hurting his hamstring a few days before the season opener. He'll return to practice this week, although it's unclear if he'll play vs. the Seahawks on Monday night. Smith isn't worth grabbing off the waiver wire now, especially with WR Michael Thomas expected back within the next few weeks.
The Giants aren't planning to place WR Kadarius Toney (ankle) on IR, according to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano. Vacchiano does confirm that Toney is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Panthers. But it sounds like there's a chance he's back for Week 8 or at least Week 9. Toney is worth stashing on fantasy benches in the meantime.
Titans HC Mike Vrabel said Monday that the team will take it "day by day" with WR Julio Jones' hamstring. Jones re-injured the hammy in the 4th quarter of Monday night's win over the Bills after missing the previous 2 games. We'd be surprised if he played vs. the Chiefs on Sunday but will keep an eye on him this week.
