Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Cardinals RB James Conner suffered a rib injury in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Eagles. He's officially questionable to return but hasn't yet hit the field in quarter 3. We'll update his status when we know more.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook assumed his usual rushing lead in Sunday's win over the Bears, racking up 18-94-2 on the ground to make fantasy football managers happy. But Alexander Mattison siphoned receiving opportunities for the 2nd straight week. Mattison drew 4 targets to Cook's 2, compared with the 18-9 carry split in Cook's favor. And Mattison actually ran 2 more routes than Cook this time after merely drawing close to Cook in that category in Week 4. This won't be a big issue as long as Minnesota wins but could cut into Cook's fantasy production when the Vikings trail. We'll watch to see if Minnesota alters the plan here as Cook moves further beyond his shoulder injury -- or if there's just a preference to get Mattison more involved with the passing game.

Bears QB Justin Fields completed 15 of 21 pass attempts for 208 yards and a TD in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. He took a mere 2 sacks and avoided turning the ball over. (Fields did fumble twice, but Chicago recovered both.) The QB added 47 rushing yards on 8 attempts. It's not enough to make him attractive for Week 6 fantasy use. But it's a positive compared with what else we've gotten from the Bears' offense so far.

After missing Week 4 with ankle and knee injuries, Bears RB David Montgomery returned to reclaim the backfield in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. He played 36 snaps to 14 for Khalil Herbert and just 1 for rookie Trestan Ebner. Montgomery led Herbert 18-7 in routes, according to Pro Football Focus, and claimed 75% of RB rushing attempts. He gained only 20 yards on those 12 carries but scored from 9 yards out. Montgomery added a team-high 62 receiving yards on 4 catches. Only WR Darnell Mooney edged him in targets (5). TE Cole Kmet was the only other Bear to exceed 2 receptions. Herbert gained just 11 yards on 4 carries and saw 0 targets.

Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Rams with a right knee injury. That's the same knee in which he injured his PCL in Week 2. We'll update his status when we know more.

A source tells Pro Football Talk that Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill's foot injury "is not believed to be serious." That's obviously good news and seemingly rules out a long-term absence, but it doesn't necessarily mean that Hill won't miss time. We should learn more on Monday.

Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill was wearing a walking boot on his left foot after Sunday's loss to the Jets, per ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques. HC Mike McDaniel reportedly said that Hill was stepped on late in the game. We'll pass along further updates as we get them.

Packers WR Randall Cobb drew a team-high 13 targets in Sunday's loss to the Giants, accounting for 33.3% of Aaron Rodgers' total attempts. He also led the team with 7 catches and 99 yards. WR Allen Lazard checked in next with 8 targets, catching 4 for 35 and a TD. TE Marcedes Lewis grabbed the only other TD on his lone catch of the game. Rookie WR Romeo Doubs tallied 3 receptions for 29 yards among 5 targets.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said after Sunday's game that RB Rashaad Penny's ankle injury is "serious," according to Greg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune. Carroll also reportedly said it will be "very tough" for the team to get him back. Sounds like this might be a season-ender. We'll watch for further updates.

Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that it's a fractured tibia, with tests coming Monday to asses to level of damage and whether he'll need surgery.

Packers RBs combined for just 114 total yards in Sunday's loss to the Giants in London. Aaron Jones gained 63 yards on 13 carries and saw the backfield's only 3 targets. He caught 2 of those for 17 yards. AJ Dillon carried only 6 times, gaining 34 yards. According to Pro Football Focus, Jones more than doubled Dillon's playing time in this game -- 46 snaps to 20 -- working well ahead on both run and pass plays.

Giants WR Darius Slayton led the team in targets (7), receptions (6) and receiving yards (79) in Sunday's win over the Packers. No other Giant caught more than 3 passes or topped 36 yards. Saquon Barkley was the only other player with more than 3 targets, catching 3 of 6 for 36 yards. WR Marcus Johnson caught all 3 of his targets for 35 yards after being elevated from the practice squad. He also led the crew in total snaps and routes run. Richie James and David Sills V supplied just 2 catches apiece, ranking 3rd and 4th -- respectively -- in snaps.

Giants QB Daniel Jones didn't appear to have any issues with his sprained ankle in Sunday's win over the Packers. He completed 21 of 27 passes for 217 yards -- a season high -- with no TDs or INTs. He also rushed for 37 yards on 10 attempts. Jones gets a home date with the Ravens in Week 6.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley overcame a brief absence Sunday to supply 106 total yards in the win over Green Bay in London. Barkley carried 13 times for 70 yards and a TD. He also caught 3 passes for 36 yards among 6 targets, 2nd most on the team. Barkley left for a portion of the 2nd half to have his right shoulder checked but re-entered. RB Gary Brightwell and TE Daniel Bellinger added TD runs as well.

Rams S Taylor Rapp (ribs) is active for today's game against the Cowboys.

Panthers LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder) and S Xavier Woods (hamstring) are inactive for today's game against the 49ers.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth sustained a concussion in the 2nd half of Sunday's game vs. the Bills. We'll track his progress through the protocol this coming week.

Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny suffered an ankle injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Saints and is doubtful to return. That leaves lead duties to rookie RB Ken Walker.

Saints WR Chris Olave sustained a concussion on his 16-yard TD catch in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks. He's out for the rest of this one. We'll track his progress through the protocol this coming week.

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (groin) is active for today’s game vs. the Rams. He sat out Thursday’s practice but returned to a limited workout on Friday. There have been no reports about Lamb being limited today, so we’d keep him in fantasy lineups.

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard (illness) is active for today’s game vs. the Rams. We’re expecting him to play his usual role behind RB Ezekiel Elliott.
