Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Jaguars RB Snoop Conner is a healthy scratch for today's opener vs. the Commanders. It's surprising with RB James Robinson playing his first game since his torn Achilles. Either Robinson will play a bigger role than we're expecting -- or RB Travis Etienne will get big volume today.

Panthers WR Laviska Shenault is a healthy scratch for today's opener vs. the Browns. We'll see if he can earn himself a role after being dealt to Carolina in late August, but he's not worth stashing outside of the deepest of redraft leagues.

Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier is a healthy scratch for today’s opener vs. the Saints. It’s only a minor surprise if you were paying attention to the preseason, when Allgeier was clearly behind RBs Cordarrelle Patterson and Damien Williams. The rookie is worth stashing in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams but probably won’t be a fantasy factor any time soon.

49ers RB Tyrion Davis-Price is a healthy scratch for today's opener vs. the Bears. Shades of Trey Sermon last year! -- although this one isn't nearly as big a surprise. San Francisco will roll with RBs Jeff Wilson and Jordan Mason behind starter Elijah Mitchell.

Saints S Tyrann Mathieu is active for today's game against the Falcons. He entered the day questionable but looks ready to go for IDP use.

49ers TE George Kittle (groin) is officially inactive for today’s opener vs. the Bears. He suffered what’s been reported as a Grade 2 groin strain on Monday and didn’t practice the rest of the week. We’ll see if Kittle can make it back for Week 2. His absence is a significant loss for QB Trey Lance but frees up targets for WRs Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.

11:35am EDT 9/11/22

Jets CB D.J. Reed is active for today's game against the Ravens. He entered the day questionable but finished the week with a full Friday practice and should be safe for IDP use.

Patriots RB Ty Montgomery (knee) is active for today’s opener vs. the Dolphins. He’s not a fantasy option but does figure to siphon some passing-down snaps. Rookie RB Pierre Strong is a healthy scratch for New England.

Ravens CB Marcus Peters is inactive for today's game with the Jets. HC John Harbaugh had reportedly called it a rest day when Peters sat out Friday's practice, but this points to his knee issue being more significant.

11:36am EDT 9/11/22

Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. He reportedly had a brace on his left knee warming up, so this injury might actually be a factor today. Meyers, of course, wasn’t an exciting fantasy option to begin with.

11:34am EDT 9/11/22

Commanders TE Logan Thomas (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Jaguars. Activated from the PUP list less than 3 weeks ago after last December’s multi-ligament knee injury, Thomas is unlikely to be ready for a full slate of snaps today.

Cowboys S Jayron Kearse popped up on the injury report as questionable at the end of the week after missing Friday's practice with a neck injury. The Sunday night kickoff makes it tough to wait for him in IDP lineups.

11:34am EDT 9/11/22

Bears WR Velus Jones (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the 49ers. Byron Pringle and Equanimeous St. Brown figure to operate as the #2 and #3 WRs behind Darnell Mooney.

11:33am EDT 9/11/22

Falcons WR Drake London (ankle) is active for today’s opener vs. the Saints. The rookie was limited in practice all week coming off his August 12 knee injury, so it’s unclear if he’s ready for a full slate of snaps today. London would be a risky Week 1 fantasy play.

Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins (knee) is inactive for today’s game against the Jets. Dobbins was pushing to play and told ESPN’s Dianni Russini this morning that he’ll be back “soon.” We’ll continue to keep you updated on his progress. RBs Mike Davis, Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill are active for Baltimore today.

Saints WR Michael Thomas (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Falcons. He was limited in practice all week after hurting his hammy in the middle of August. That adds even more risk to a guy who’s playing his first game since January 2021.

ESPN's Dianna Russini hears that Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins (knee) is a game-time decision for today's opener vs. the Jets but is trending toward sitting. "It’s unlikely he plays but he’s going to try," Russini tweeted. Dobbins should be on fantasy benches even if he ends up active today. Look for Mike Davis and Kenyan Drake to handle most of Baltimore's RB work.

Broncos LB Josey Jewell is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Seahawks with a calf injury that kept him out of practice both Friday and Saturday. That clears the way for Jonas Griffith to work as lead LB in the opener. Griffith missed most of the preseason with an elbow injury suffered early in the 1st exhibition, but he practiced in full all week and is off the injury report. Denver also lists EDGE Randy Gregory as questionable with shoulder and knee issues. We'd plan to not use Gregory in Week 1 IDP lineups, given the late kickoff.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that the Steelers will give QB Mitchell Trubisky a "long look" as the starter. 1st-round rookie QB Kenny Pickett had a strong preseason, but according to Rapoport, the Steelers would like this to play out like it did for Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City, with Trubisky starting all year and Pickett taking over in 2023. We'll see if Trubisky can play well enough to make that happen. We're still betting on seeing Pickett this year.

The 49ers remain "fully behind" QB Trey Lance, despite the decision to retain QB Jimmy Garoppolo, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport adds that the team simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to keep Garoppolo as a quality backup for just $6.5 million -- and that a midseason trade is still possible.
