Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon injured his left ankle late in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He never re-entered but was at least trying to keep the ankle loose by jogging on the sidelines. That at least suggests that this isn't a serious injury, but we should learn more on Monday. Samaje Perine will step in as Cincinnati's lead back if Mixon misses times.

Lions LB Alex Anzalone left Sunday's win over the Cardinals with a shoulder injury and did not return. That marks the 2nd straight game in which Anzalone has gotten hurt, following a Week 14 ankle issue that left him questionable for Sunday. It'll be tough to like him for Week 16 IDP lineups, even if he makes it back from this one. LB Josh Woods also left Sunday's game with a shoulder injury. We'll see who Detroit has available heading into next Sunday.

Broncos QB Teddy Bridgewater was stretchered off the field after taking a hard hit and landing on his head in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Bengals. We'll update his status when we know more. QB Drew Lock is in for Denver.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard tore his Achilles in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys, according to Dan Salomone. That ends Shepard's season and might impact his availability for the start of the 2022 campaign. We'll track his rehab this offseason.

Bears CB Jaylon Johnson and S Tashaun Gipson landed on the COVID list Sunday, knocking them out for Monday night's game against the Vikings. Johnson is easily Chicago's top corner, so the deactivations can only enhance the matchup for Vikings WRs and QB Kirk Cousins.

Seattle placed CB D.J. Reed on the COVID list Sunday, which appears to knock him out for Tuesday's game against the Rams. That helps an already solid matchup for the Rams WR corps, which just got Odell Beckham back from the COVID list.

The Seahawks on Sunday placed RB Travis Homer on the COVID list. He joins Alex Collins there. It's not clear how significant a role either guy would have in this week's game, given the fluidity of Seattle's RB depth chart in recent weeks. But missing 2 components can only help Rashaad Penny, if you're planning to use him.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard suffered a non-contact, left leg injury in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Cowboys. He was carted off the field. We'll update his status when we know more, but this obviously looks like a serious injury.

The Rams have activated CB Jalen Ramsey from the COVID list, making him eligible to play Tuesday against the Seahawks. Ramsey has been in our Week 15 DB rankings and might carry even more upside if Tyler Lockett misses the game. (He's no lock to make it off the COVID list before the game.) No Lockett would likely mean even more targets for D.K. Metcalf, whom Ramsey figures to shadow as much as possible.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth sustained a concussion in Sunday's game vs. the Titans and is done for the day. It's his 2nd concussion of the season, which might hurt his chances of getting cleared for Week 16. We'll track Freiermuth's progress through the protocol.

Titans WR Julio Jones is out for the rest of Sunday's game vs. the Steelers with a hamstring injury. Jones, of course, has battled hamstring trouble all year. He finishes this one catch-less on 1 target.

Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (back) is active for today’s game vs. the Ravens. He was limited in practice all week but played through this issue last week. MVS is an upside WR4 in a good spot for Green Bay’s passing game.

2:57pm EST 12/19/21

Ravens WR Marquise Brown (illness) is active for today’s game vs. the Packers. He didn't practice on Thursday but returned to a limited practice on Friday. We’re expecting him to play his usual role today.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (ankle) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Packers. Jackson reportedly improved late in the week, so we’re tentatively expecting him back for next Sunday’s game vs. Bengals. QB Tyler Huntley gets the start today. He’s played pretty well in relief of Jackson this year, completing 68% of his passes. So Baltimore’s skill-position players are still in play for fantasy lineups. Huntley is an upside QB2 thanks to his rushing ability.

Broncos S Kareem Jackson (back) and DE Shelby Harris (ankle) are active for today’s game against the Bengals. DE Dre’Mont Jones is inactive, as expected, after entering the day doubtful. LB Kenny Young (concussion) is also inactive

Broncos RBs Melvin Gordon (thumb, hip) and Javonte Williams (knee) are active for today’s game vs. the Bengals. Gordon got in 3 limited practices this week; Williams was limited on Wednesday and Friday, sitting out on Thursday with some knee swelling. We never heard much concern for either guy, though, so we’re expecting the status quo in Denver’s backfield today.

Panthers K Zane Gonzalez appeared to hurt himself in pregame warmups, according to Bills insider Chris Brown. Panthers P Lachlan Edwards was practicing kickoffs and looks like the emergency K. Get Gonzalez out of Week 15 fantasy lineups.

Lions LB Alex Anzalone (ankle) is active for today's game against the Cardinals. DE Michael Brockers (knee) and LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin (shoulder) are also active. The presence of Anzalone and Reeves-Maybin likely keeps LB Josh Woods from being IDP relevant after 2 straight weeks of nice tackle production. This is a defense to avoid if possible in IDP lineups.

Giants DL Leonard Williams (triceps) and Austin Johnson (foot) are active for today's game against the Cowboys. Both starters entered the day questionable. Johnson looks iffier than Williams, as he managed only 1 limited practice this week on his injured foot.

11:39am EST 12/19/21

Texans RB Rex Burkhead (hip, quad) is active for today’s game vs. the Jaguars. It’s a slight surprise after HC David Culley said early in the week that Burkhead would miss this one. He figures to continue splitting backfield duties with RB David Johnson. RB Royce Freeman might also stay involved.
