Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

11:38am EST 12/19/21

Texans TE Brevin Jordan (hand) is active for today’s game vs. the Jaguars. He put in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday but did not practice on Friday. Jordan has some DFS appeal but shouldn’t be in your redraft plans.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard (calf) is active for today’s game vs. the Cowboys. At less than 100% and in a struggling offense, Shepard isn't a recommended Week 15 fantasy starter.

11:36am EST 12/19/21

Panthers WR D.J. Moore (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Bills. He got in 3 limited practices this week and never really seemed to be in danger of missing this one. Moore is an unexciting WR2 with Carolina sporting an ugly 15.5-point implied total.

11:35am EST 12/19/21

Cardinals TE Zach Ertz (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Lions. He was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Friday, so there’s elevated risk here. But we haven’t heard anything about Ertz being limited today. And the matchup vs. Detroit’s 21st-ranked TE defense adds upside.

Cardinals RBs James Conner (ankle) and Chase Edmonds (ankle) are active for today’s game vs. the Lions. Conner only got in a limited practice on Friday after hurting his ankle at the end of last week’s loss to the Rams. Edmonds is back after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 9. It’s unclear exactly how touches will be divvied today, but both guys are RB2s with upside vs. Detroit’s 29th-ranked RB defense. RB Eno Benjamin is a healthy scratch today.

11:33am EST 12/19/21

Jets RB Michael Carter (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. It’ll be his first action since suffering a high-ankle sprain back in Week 11. HC Robert Saleh said this week that Carter will play a "significant role" today. He'd averaged 13 carries and 6.2 targets across his last 6 healthy games. Don’t expect that many targets with Zach Wilson under center, but 13 carries is a fair projection. RBs Ty Johnson and La’Mical Perine are healthy scratches today, leaving Tevin Coleman and Austin Walter behind Carter.

Dolphins RBs Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed are active for today’s game vs. the Jets. Both guys came off the COVID list on Friday. Gaskin had been operating as Miami's clear lead back, averaging 17.6 carries and 3.2 targets over his last 5 games. He’s an upside RB2 vs. the Jets’ league-worst RB defense. RB Duke Johnson is also active for Miami. RB Malcolm Brown remains on IR.

Lions RB Jamaal Williams was not activated from the COVID list and is out for today’s game vs. the Cardinals. That again leaves Detroit’s backfield to Craig Reynolds, Godwin Igwebuike and Jermar Jefferson. Reynolds led the way with 11 carries and 2 targets last week, but HC Dan Campbell hinted that Jefferson could have a bigger role today. Reynolds is the best fantasy bet, but you should try to avoid this backfield.

11:26am EST 12/19/21

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard (foot) is active for today’s game vs. the Giants. He’ll be playing through a partially torn plantar fascia in his left foot, so his role and effectiveness are in question. Pollard is a risky fantasy play today.

ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) "could be back" for the NFC Championship or Super Bowl, but that it'd be "unrealistic" to expect him back any sooner. That jibes with the 6-week timetable for return we got for Hopkins earlier this week. We'll see how Arizona deploys WRs Christian Kirk, A.J. Green, Rondale Moore and Antoine Wesley vs. the Lions today.

The Lions have downgraded S Tracy Walker to out for today’s game against the Cardinals with an illness. Rookie Jalen Elliott started in Walker’s place last week, with Walker on the COVID list.

WR Antonio Brown is expected to re-join the Bucs when his 3-game suspension ends on Monday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. HC Bruce Arians had previously been non-committal on Brown's status with the team after his fake vaccine card fiasco. But Brown has reportedly been attending team meetings and working out at the team's facility during his suspension. Rapoport adds that Brown is "ready to go" after missing a bunch of time with an ankle injury. We'll keep an eye on him this coming week, but he'll certainly be worth considering in Week 16 fantasy lineups vs. the Panthers.

Cardinals TE Zach Ertz (hamstring) is "looking good" to play vs. the Lions today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Ertz was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Friday, so he carries elevated risk in Week 15 fantasy lineups. But there's still plenty of upside here with Arizona likely to put a bunch of points on the board today.

Panthers WR D.J. Moore (hamstring) is expected to play vs. the Bills today, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Moore was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable, but there never seemed to be much doubt about his availability for this one. It's a tough spot for Carolina's offense in Buffalo today, but at least Moore won't need to deal with CB Tre White.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Bucs RB Leonard Fournette (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Saints tonight. Fournette is listed as questionable after getting in just a limited practice on Friday, but HC Bruce Arians said Friday morning that Fournette would play. Despite the late kickoff, Fournette can be in Week 15 fantasy lineups.

ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (ankle) "was moving around better in practice this weekend, raising some hopes - however unlikely - he could make it back" for today's game vs. the Packers. Schefter adds that Jackson is dealing with a bone bruise in his ankle, not an ankle sprain as originally reported. It still sounds like Jackson is worse than 50/50 to start today -- and we won't get his official game status until 3 pm ET. We'll be on the lookout for further updates. But, as of now, Jackson should still be on fantasy benches.

Ravens WR Marquise Brown (illness) is expected to play vs. the Packers today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Brown was sidelined on Thursday but returned to a limited practice on Friday. We're expecting him to play his usual role today.

Broncos RBs Melvin Gordon (thumb, hip) and Javonte Williams (knee) are expected to play vs. the Bengals today, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Unless we hear otherwise, we're expecting the near 50/50 split in Denver's backfield to continue.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Cowboys RB Tony Pollard (foot) is expected to play vs. the Giants today. But Schefter adds that, "Dallas could have a slightly more cautious approach with him" as he battles that partially torn plantar fascia. It's tough to project exactly how much work Pollard will get today, making him a risky fantasy play.

Cardinals RB James Conner (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Lions today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Conner is listed as questionable after getting in just a limited practice on Friday, so don't expect him to be at 100%. That -- plus the return of Chase Edmonds -- knocks Conner into lower-end RB2 territory this week. The matchup, of course, adds plenty of upside.
