Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Bears RB Roschon Johnson (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. It's concerning that he hasn't made enough progress through the protocol to even get in a limited practice. We'll see if Johnson gets on the field tomorrow, but he seems iffy for this weekend's game vs. the Raiders. RB Travis Homer (hamstring) got in a limited practice on Wednesday after missing last week's game.

Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) did not practice on Wednesday. The team has basically already ruled him out for Sunday's game vs. the Raiders, which leaves undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent as Chicago's likely starter.

Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo (back) did not practice on Wednesday. While he reportedly dodged a major injury in last week's game vs. the Patriots, Garoppolo doesn't seem particularly likely to play against the Bears this weekend. We'll see if he's able to get back on the practice field tomorrow.

Lions RBs David Montgomery (ribs) and Craig Reynolds (hamstring, toe) did not practice on Wednesday. Montgomery is not expected to play vs. the Ravens this weekend. This is the first we've heard of Reynolds' injuries, but his status for Sunday's game is now uncertain. RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) got in a limited practice on Wednesday after HC Dan Campbell said earlier this week that the rookie was trending toward returning for the Ravens game. We'll get another update on this banged-up backfield tomorrow.

Saints RB Jamaal Williams (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game vs. the Jaguars. He was limited in practice this week after going down with a hamstring injury back in Week 2. We'll see if Williams is able to play tomorrow, but he shouldn't be in fantasy lineups.

Saints TE Juwan Johnson (calf) is out for Thursday night's game vs. the Jaguars. TE Taysom Hill came out of nowhere last week to register a 65% route rate and career-high eight targets. We'd still try not to use him in season-long fantasy lineups, but he's an intriguing play in one-game DFS contests.

Jaguars WR Zay Jones (knee) has been ruled out for Thursday night's game vs. the Saints. WR Calvin Ridley, WR Christian Kirk, and TE Evan Engram will continue to handle the majority of Jacksonville targets.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (knee) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game vs. the Saints. He got in limited practices on Tuesday and Wednesday. Lawrence has expressed optimism about his availability for Thursday night, and we're expecting him to play. But between the knee issue and a difficult matchup, he sits lower than usual in the Week 7 QB Rankings.

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (knee) will practice on Wednesday, HC Jonathan Gannon said. Gannon added that his QB is "full go." Murray is still highly unlikely to play vs. the Seahawks this weekend, but his 2023 debut should be more than 2-3 weeks away. We'll keep you updated on his status. Murray will be a QB2 out of the gate but could certainly re-join the QB1 ranks by the end of November.

Bills QB Josh Allen said Wednesday that he has "no concern" about the shoulder injury he suffered in Sunday night's win over the Giants. "We’ll be ready to go," Allen added. "It’s feeling pretty good.” We'll keep an eye on Allen leading up to this weekend's game vs. the Patriots, but he can stay penciled into fantasy lineups.

Browns QB Deshaun Watson went into detail about his shoulder injury on Wednesday. He confirmed that it's a rotator cuff injury, per The Associated Press' Tom Withers. Watson said he's "trending up" but admitted that he might not get back to 100% this season. He added that he's not sure if it'll be days or weeks before he's ready to play. He's set to undergo medical testing ahead of Wednesday's practice. We'll keep you updated on Watson's status, but fantasy owners shouldn't plan on having him available for Week 7 lineups.

Colts owner Jim Irsay says QB Anthony Richardson has decided to have surgery on his right shoulder, which will end the rookie's season. This was previously reported as the likely move and will mean QB Gardner Minshew starting going forward. Sam Ehlinger sits as the backup, with Kellen Mond on the practice squad. We'll see whether Indy makes any further moves at the position.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Rams expect RB Kyren Williams to miss "multiple games" with his ankle sprain. Williams "should be back, at the latest, after the Week 10 bye." That would mean three missed games, which should affect your waiver and potential trade moves this week. The Rams will turn to some combo of Zach Evans, Royce Freeman, Myles Gaskin, and Darrell Henderson in the meantime. We'll keep watch for more insight into the plan ahead of Sunday's game against the Steelers.

Cardinals insider Bob McManaman believes there's a "good chance" QB Kyler Murray (knee) returns to practice this week. HC Jonathan Gannon said in a Monday radio appearance that Murray is "trending in the right direction" in his recovery from last December's torn ACL. He'd figure to need at least a couple of weeks of practice before being ready to play in a game. Remember that Arizona has a brand new offense since the last time Murray took the field. But it sounds like we'll see Murray this season -- in an offense that's been better than expected so far. He's worth grabbing now if you're a QB-needy team.

Saints RB Jamaal Williams (hamstring) was limited in Tuesday's practice. He's eligible to return for Thursday night's game vs. the Jaguars. We'll see if he's ready, but Williams shouldn't be in your Week 7 fantasy plans.

Saints TE Juwan Johnson (calf) did not practice on Tuesday. It doesn't look like he'll make it back for Thursday night's game vs. the Jaguars. Taysom Hill led Saints TEs with a 65% route rate and eight targets last week.

Jaguars WR Zay Jones (knee) did not practice on Tuesday. He seems unlikely to play vs. the Saints on Thursday night, but we'll see how he's listed on the final injury report tomorrow.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey's oblique/rib injury is not considered long-term, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter adds that McCaffrey has a "chance" to play vs. the Vikings on Monday night. "The work week will help determine" his availability, Schefter says. We'll keep you updated on McCaffrey's status throughout the week. The Monday kickoff could make it a tricky situation for fantasy owners if McCaffrey ends up as a game-time decision.

The Rams are signing RB Myles Gaskin away from Minnesota's practice squad. That means he'll need to join L.A.'s active roster, which should put Gaskin in the mix for playing time Sunday against the Steelers. This, of course, comes on the same day the Rams added Darrell Henderson to their practice squad. We'll continue watching for any further insight into how the team plans to spread backfield work while Kyren Williams is out.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence told reporters on Tuesday that he's "optimistic" that he'll be able to play vs. the Saints on Thursday night, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. “But of course we'll have to make that decision on Thursday," Lawrence added. He was on the practice field on Tuesday with a brace on that injured left knee. Backup QB C.J. Beathard said he took the majority of the first-team reps but called Lawrence “very likely” to play on Thursday. Check back tomorrow for another update on Lawrence.
