Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

11:35am EST 12/12/21

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard (foot) is inactive for today’s game vs. Washington. That leaves only Corey Clement and JaQuan Hardy behind Ezekiel Elliott on the depth chart. Zeke should take on a bigger share of the backfield work today -- although we’re still expecting a pass-heavy game plan from Dallas.

11:34am EST 12/12/21

Texans WR Brandin Cooks (back) is active for today’s game vs. the Seahawks. He was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Friday, but it’s unclear if the back will be an issue today. Cooks carries more risk than usual in Week 14 fantasy lineups.

11:33am EST 12/12/21

Titans WR Julio Jones (hamstring) is officially active for today’s game vs. the Jaguars. He’s certainly not the safest fantasy play in his first action since Week 9. But Jones also brings exciting upside with a chance to hog targets in today’s plus matchup.

Texans RB David Johnson has been placed on the COVID list. He's out for today's game vs. the Seahawks. That should again leave Rex Burkhead as Houston's clear lead back, with Royce Freeman behind him. Burkhead, of course, is an unexciting fantasy option in this crappy offense.

The Chiefs have ruled CB L'Jarius Sneed out for today's game against the Raiders after the death of his older brother. Sneed traveled to Louisiana on Saturday to be with family and reportedly remains there. We'll see whether he's ready to return for Week 15.

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard (foot) won't play vs. Washington today, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer. That leaves Corey Clement as Dallas' #2 RB and should mean an increased role for RB Ezekiel Elliott. Despite his ongoing knee trouble, Zeke looks like a borderline RB1 based on volume alone.

Browns LB Anthony Walker will miss today's game against the Ravens on the COVID list. Malcolm Smith is expected to start in his place. Smith will carry some IDP upside, but Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is the top play among Cleveland LBs.

Raiders RB Jalen Richard remains on the COVID list and won't play vs. the Chiefs today. With RB Kenyan Drake done for the season, Vegas is down to RBs Josh Jacobs and Peyton Barber. Jacobs, who's averaged 12.8 carries and 5.8 targets over the last 5 games, should continue to see big volume today.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Washington expects S Landon Collins (foot) to play against the Cowboys today, barring a setback in pregame. Collins missed Week 13 but should be ready for IDP lineups this week.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (shoulder) "is a candidate to be placed on injured reserve," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Swift has avoided IR so far but has yet to practice since going down on Thanksgiving. The 1-10-1 Lions have no incentive to rush him back. We'll keep an eye on the situation -- and fantasy owners should keep Swift rostered for now. But it sounds like there's a real chance that we don't see him again this season.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Bengals WR Tee Higgins (ankle) is expected to play vs. the 49ers today. Higgins got in 2 limited practices this week after tweaking his ankle last Sunday. He comes with a bit more risk in Week 14 fantasy lineups but remains a WR2 with upside.

"There isn’t a lot of optimism" for Cowboys RB Tony Pollard (foot) to play against Washington today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Pollard is "fighting for it," Rapoport adds, and a final decision won't be made until pregame warmups. It's a 1 pm ET kickoff, so we'll get Pollard's status around 11:30 am ET. But he'll be a risky play if he ends up active. If not, expect RB Ezekiel Elliott to take on more volume. Dallas' only other RBs on the active roster are Corey Clement and JaQuan Hardy.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that rehab is going well for Titans RB Derrick Henry, who is expected to return for the NFL playoffs. He adds that Henry might be available for Week 18 if Tennessee hits a must-win situation. That expected timetable indicates that fantasy owners who had been keeping Henry in a non-IR spot on redraft rosters -- or even in an IR spot, if you want to stash someone else there -- can go ahead and dump him for a usable option.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (groin) "will play" vs. the Bengals this afternoon, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Schefter notably went with "will play," rather than "expected to play," so we feel confident that Samuel will be active later this afternoon. He still carries added risk after getting in just a limited practice on Friday with the groin injury. But Samuel would be tough to keep on fantasy benches considering how productive he's been all season.

The 49ers have placed CB Emmanuel Moseley on IR with an ankle injury. That knocks him out until at least Week 17. With CB Dontae Johnson ruled out for a personal reason, San Francisco heads into today's matchup with the Bengals missing 2 starting corners. That can only enhance the matchup for Bengals WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

Giants WRs Sterling Shepard (quad) and Kenny Gollady (rib) are expected to play vs. the Chargers today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Both guys will be trying to catch passes from QB Mike Glennon. Shepard at least has some volume-based WR3 appeal, especially with WR Kadarius Toney (oblique) still out. Golladay isn't a recommended fantasy play.

Washington RB J.D. McKissic (concussion) won't play vs. the Cowboys today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. McKissic wasn't able to pass all the way through the concussion protocol but figures to do so by Week 15. In the meantime, RB Antonio Gibson will continue to dominate backfield work against Dallas today.

ESPN's Adam Schefter included Bengals RB Joe Mixon (illness) in his list of players "expected to play" on Sunday. Mixon missed practiced all week, but HC Zac Taylor said Friday that he expected Mixon to play. We'll see if we hear anything about Mixon's volume being scaled back vs. the 49ers. But, as of now, he should be in fantasy lineups.

Chargers WR Mike Williams has been activated from the COVID list, setting him up to play against the Giants on Sunday. Williams didn't practice all week but should operate as Los Angeles' #1 WR tomorrow with WR Keenan Allen out with COVID.

The Jets on Saturday placed WR Elijah Moore on IR for his quad injury. That knocks him out for at least the next 3 games, which makes the rookie droppable in most cases if you don't have an extra spot to stash him. Week 17 would be the earliest Moore can return. His absence boosts the target outlooks for Keelan Cole and Jamison Crowder, as well as Jets RBs.
