Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Rams are signing RB Darrell Henderson to their practice squad. That's an especially interesting move because L.A. waived him just last season from a backfield that wasn't exactly loaded. Of course, the addition comes in the wake of Kyren Williams spraining an ankle and Ronnie Rivers spraining a knee. Rookie Zach Evans and molasses-fast veteran Royce Freeman are the only healthy RBs on the current active roster. We'll see whether the team elevates Henderson to the active roster for Sunday's game against the Steelers. For now, Evans remains the best bet for touches in a backfield that doesn't look especially attractive.

The Eagles announced out of nowhere Tuesday that they have signed WR Julio Jones. The move likely signals that they don't expect WR Quez Watkins -- who recently landed on IR -- to return anytime soon. It's tough to imagine a significant fantasy impact from Jones, though. He caught just 3.1 passes per game with the Titans in 2021 and then 2.4 per game with last year's Buccaneers. Each set a career low. And Jones appeared in just 10 games each season. We'll be interested to see how the Eagles incorporate Jones. But we're not chasing him on redraft waivers or adjusting outlooks for any incumbents on the Philly offense.

Update: Ian Rapoport adds that Jones is joining the practice squad, but that he's likely to get quickly elevated. We'd also be surprised if Jones signed to just work on the practice squad.

ESPN's Sarah Barshop writes that Rams RB Zach Evans is "likely" to start Sunday's game vs. the Steelers. RBs Kyren Williams (ankle) and Ronnie Rivers (knee) will miss that one. The Rams' only other RBs are Evans and Royce Freeman, who's on the practice squad. "Obviously you saw Zach Evans get the first carries," HC McVay said Monday. "We've got Royce Freeman on our practice squad, and there'll be some different things that we're in the midst of working through right now." We'll look for further hints on what the backfield will look like this week. But we're expecting Evans and Freeman to be involved -- and for the Rams to go pass-heavy. Evans is the better fantasy option but shouldn't be considered more than a RB3 or flex play for now.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen hauled 7 of 11 targets for a team-leading 85 receiving yards and 1 TD in Week 6’s loss vs. the Cowboys. His teammate Joshua Palmer also had a solid game, finishing with 4 catches and 60 yards in the contest. Fantasy managers wondering if there would be a post-bye week spike in usage for rookie WR Quentin Johnston were sorely disappointed. The former TCU standout saw just 2 targets and failed to record a catch on Monday night. Looking under the hood a little bit, Johnston only played on 47.2% of the Chargers' offensive snaps in the contest, per PFF. It’s a long season, but the immediate signs are pointing toward Palmer being the stronger fantasy candidate. We’ll see if this holds true in Week 7 vs. the Chiefs.

And the crowd goes mild! Chargers RB Austin Ekeler logged 62 total yards in his return from injury in Week 6 vs. the Cowboys. The veteran was fairly effective as a receiver in the contest (4 catches, 35 yards) but was unable to get anything going on the ground. 14 carries for 27 rushing yards isn’t the big return that fantasy managers had hoped for. Ekeler’s 10.1 PPR points rank as 25th-best at the RB position this week. Hopefully, we’ll see a better showing from him in Week 7 vs. the Chiefs.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert completed 22 of 37 attempts for 227 yards with 2 TDs and a costly game-deciding INT in Week 6’s loss vs. the Cowboys. He also scurried his way to 20 rushing yards on 6 carries on Monday night. Despite not winning the contest, Herbert’s 18.1 fantasy points secured his finish as the QB6 on the week. Next up for the Chargers is a Week 7 road contest against the Chiefs.

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb secured all 7 of his targets for 117 receiving yards in Week 6’s victory vs. the Chargers. After a pair of sub-50-yard performances, the talented wideout finished as the WR10 on the week in PPR with 18.7 points. His teammate Brandin Cooks also made good on his opportunities, catching 4 passes on as many targets with 36 yards and a TD in the contest. Not all was good for these Cowboys’ wideouts, however. Michael Gallup saw a team-leading 10 targets but only converted 3 receptions for 24 yards on Monday night. This is a player who’d led the team in receiving yards (167) and receptions (13) over the past three games entering Week 6, so Gallup’s flop was assuredly disappointing for fantasy managers who opted to stream him this week. Following their Week 7 bye, the Cowboys will take on the Rams.

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard handled 15 carries for a measly 30 rushing yards in Week 6 vs. the Chargers. Fortunately, he was able to haul 6 of 7 targets for 80 yards as a pass-catcher in the contest, but Monday night was the third game in a row that the veteran failed to eclipse 50 rushing yards. Still, we like Pollard as a solid weekly starter with plenty of volume. He is just in a bit of a lull right now. Fantasy managers will have to wait until Week 8 vs. the Rams to trot the speedy back out in their lineups.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed 21 of 30 passes for 272 yards with 1 TD in Monday night’s win vs. the Chargers. The veteran also added some value with his legs in Week 6, tallying 40 rushing yards (including an 18-yard TD run) on 7 carries. Prescott’s 24.8 fantasy points were enough for him to finish as the QB1 overall on the week. Dallas will head into their bye in Week 7, but this is certainly a great way to leave off after a dreadful showing in primetime last week vs. the 49ers.

Titans QB Ryan Tannehill has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Tannehill gets a Week 7 bye "but could miss time," Fowler adds. We'll keep an eye on Tannehill when Tennesse gets back to work next week. HC Mike Vrabel wouldn't say Monday whether QB Malik Willis or QB Will Levis would start if Tannehill misses time.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson will "probably" miss the rest of the regular season, ESPN's Stephen Holder reports. The rookie might need surgery on his injured right shoulder. That came from Colts owner Jim Irsay, and it should mean Gardner Minshew starting the rest of the season. Richardson remains a high-upside asset for dynasty fantasy football teams. We're not projecting much difference for other Colts offensive pieces with Minshew in place of Richardson. If anything, the swap likely means more passing volume and less goal-line competition for the RBs.

Titans HC Mike Vrabel said Monday that QB Ryan Tannehill's right ankle injury is similar to the one he initially suffered last season that cost him two games. "We'll see how it goes," Vrabel said. "We have some time here before our next game, and Ryan will get treatment around the clock. This will be a big week to see how he progresses, and then we'll make a decision on his availability next week and what we do then." Tannehill gets a well-timed Week 7 bye, but it sounds like there's a chance he's not ready for Week 8. Vrabel didn't say whether QB Malik Willis or QB Will Levis will start if Tannehill is out. Neither is an inspiring option.

Chargers TE Donald Parham (wrist) is active for tonight's game vs. the Cowboys. He's a TD-dependent flier in one-game DFS contests.

Chargers WR Joshua Palmer (groin) is active for tonight's game vs. the Cowboys. He was added to the injury report on Sunday, adding risk to his fantasy outlook tonight. Palmer is available if you waited on him in season-long leagues, but he's a fade in one-game DFS contests.

Lions HC Dan Campbell suggested Monday that RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) has a good chance to return for this weekend's game vs. the Ravens. "Feel a lot better about Gibbs this week," Campbell said. "He ran really well on Saturday before we left (for Tampa Bay) and had another really good workout today." Gibbs' return would be well-timed considering Detroit will be without RB David Montgomery. Gibbs tallied 17 carries and two targets on a 60% snap rate when Montgomery missed Week 3.

Lions HC Dan Campbell said Monday that RB David Montgomery is dealing with a rib cartilage injury. "He's got a little something in there with cartilage, and he's probably going to be down for a little bit here," Campbell said. "I don't know how long. At his position it's not an easy thing to deal with so we'll just take it as it comes, but I think there's a chance we won't have him for a little bit." Campbell also said that he doesn't yet know if Montgomery will need to go on IR, according to Tim Twentyman of the team's official website. We'll see about that, but it sounds like Montgomery is dealing with a multi-week injury.

Bills HC Sean McDermott labeled QB Josh Allen "day-to-day" with his shoulder injury. "He's sore. He's going to be all right," McDermott added. The coach didn't guarantee that Allen will be ready for this weekend's game vs. the Patriots, but it sounds like he's a good bet to play. We'll track his status throughout the week.

The Athletic's Matt Barrows tweets that 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan "praised Jordan Mason's play on Sunday. But it sounded that Elijah Mitchell, not Mason, would be in the lead role should Christian McCaffrey miss Monday's game." It's certainly more tea-leaf-reading by Barrows than actual reporting -- but noteworthy nonetheless. Both Mitchell and Mason should be owned in most fantasy leagues as we wait to learn more about McCaffrey.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday afternoon that RB Christian McCaffrey is still undergoing tests on the injury he suffered in the Week 6 loss to the Browns. Shanahan said it's still unclear whether McCaffrey has an injury to his oblique, ribs, or both -- and that figuring that out will help determine whether he's able to play against the Vikings next Monday night. We'll keep you updated on McCaffrey's status.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan labeled WR Deebo Samuel "day-to-day" with his shoulder injury. It's confirmation that Samuel's injury isn't serious, but he shouldn't be considered a lock to play against the Vikings next Monday night. We'll keep you updated on Samuel's progress throughout the week.
