Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. tallied 31 rushing yards on 10 carries in Week 6 vs. the Falcons. While his rushing output was somewhat disappointing, he added 2 catches for 25 yards and a receiving TD in the contest. His end zone score made for a respectable total of 13.6 PPR points, but the second-year back has really cooled off since the beginning of the season. Fortunately, next week presents a solid “get right” opportunity for Robinson Jr. vs. the Giants.
Commanders QB Sam Howell had an efficient outing in Week 6 vs. the Falcons, completing 14 of 23 passes for 151 yards with 3 TDs. Each of Howell’s scoring tosses on Sunday came within 25 yards of the end zone and returned a very solid 18.3 fantasy points despite the lack of passing yardage. With this performance, Howell has now finished as the QB13 or better in five of six games in 2023. Week 7’s matchup vs. the Giants sets up nicely for the second-year starter to continue his streak of fantasy relevance.
Congratulations if you started Falcons WR Drake London in your lineup. The second-year wideout exploded with 9 catches on 12 targets with a career-high 125 receiving yards in Week 6 vs. the Commanders. TE Kyle Pitts also had a strong outing, hauling 4 catches for 46 yards and a TD in the loss. Sunday marks the first time Pitts has recorded a TD since Week 8 of last season. TE Jonnu Smith again returned some solid fantasy production with a 4-36-1 receiving line. The Falcons’ offense has been frustrating for managers this season, though recent efforts from the past couple of weeks have helped to assuage some concerns. We’ll see if they can keep this up in Week 7 vs. the Buccaneers.
Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier recorded 13 carries for a team-leading 51 rushing yards in Week 6’s loss vs. the Commanders. His rookie teammate Bijan Robinson logged an equal number of carries with 31 rushing yards and roped in 5 of 8 targets for 43 receiving yards as a pass-catcher in the contest. Though the Falcons’ run game wasn’t super effective on Sunday, Robinson’s contributions in the receiving game elevated him to 13 PPR points. Fantasy managers can hope for a better outing in Week 7 vs. the Buccaneers.
Falcons QB Desmond Ridder completed 28 of 47 passes for 307 yards with 2 TDs and 3 INTs vs. the Commanders in Week 6. It’s encouraging that the second-year starter has now gone over 300 passing yards in each of the past two weeks. Unfortunately, poor accuracy and decision-making have led to Ridder ranking second among QBs with 6 INTs on the season. He’ll be worth a look in deeper 2QB/superflex leagues in Week 7 vs. the Buccaneers.
Giants LB Micah McFadden (ankle) is active for tonight's game against the Bills. That will mark his return after missing Week 5, and should return Isaiah Simmons to a reserve role.
Giants TE Darren Waller (groin) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Bills. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday after sitting out on Wednesday, which Waller described as a maintenance day. It doesn’t seem like the groin will be an issue tonight. But Waller is no better than a mid-range TE1 play with his Giants sporting a 14.0-point implied total.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Bills. He’s four weeks removed from his high-ankle sprain and probably isn’t at 100% just yet. Throw in an injury-wrecked Giants offensive line, and Barkley does not carry his usual RB1 projection this week.
Jaguars WR Christian Kirk caught just three balls on 6 targets in Sunday's win over the Colts. But his 49 yards were enough to lead the team on a limited offensive day (233 total yards). WR Calvin Ridley drew a team-high 8 targets but managed just 30 yards on 4 receptions. TE Evan Engram was the only other Jaguar with more than 3 receptions.
Bills TE Dawson Knox (wrist) is active for tonight's game vs. the Giants. TE Dalton Kincaid (concussion) is inactive. That should mean a boost in pass routes for Knox, making him a passable season-long starter and an intriguing play in one-game DFS contests.
Jaguars RB Travis Etienne scored twice on the ground in Sunday's win over the Colts. That helped hide that he gained just 55 yards on 18 carries (3.1 per rush). Etienne added 28 yards on 3 receptions. He dominated backfield work once again, so there's no reason to worry about the lagging efficiency. A Thursday night matchup with the Saints in Week 7 could be difficult, though.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram snagged all 7 targets in Sunday's lopsided win over the Colts. He turned that into just 41 yards, though, with nearly half of that coming on a single 19-yard reception. Engram easily led Jacksonville in receptions, with just one teammate catching more than three. It was Engram's third game of 7 receptions among the past four. Engram also has yet to average 10 yards per catch or score a TD in a game, though. That makes him a high-floor, low-ceiling fantasy producer.
Ravens WR Zay Flowers logged 6 catches for 50 receiving yards on Sunday vs. the Titans. The rookie also recorded his first career TD in the second quarter of the contest. TE Mark Andrews recorded a team-high 69 receiving yards with 4 catches on 6 targets in Week 6. The Ravens’ passing game hasn’t been explosive thus far in 2023, but Flowers and Andrews routinely deliver fantasy-viable production weekly. They’ll go up against the Lions in Week 7.
Ravens RB Gus Edwards saw a team-leading 16 carries for 41 rushing yards in Week 6 vs. the Titans. He also added 1 reception for 12 yards as a pass-catcher in the contest. RB Justice Hill saw his fair share of work on Sunday with 8 carries for 35 rushing yards and 3 catches. Neither back had a particularly explosive performance, but fantasy managers can be happy with the RB3/flex-level output. Edwards and Hill will face a stingy Lions’ run defense in Week 7.
Ravens QB Lamar Jackson completed 21 of 30 passes for 223 yards with 1 TD and INT apiece in Week 6’s win vs. the Titans. He also led the contest with 62 yards on 13 carries. Though Jackson has yet to exceed 250 passing yards in a game in 2023, his rushing output is excellently sustaining his fantasy value. The former MVP leads all QBs with 327 rushing yards and ranks tied for first at the position with 4 rushing TDs this season. Next weekend, Jackson will square off against the Lions in Week 7.
Patriots TE Hunter Henry injured an ankle in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Raiders. He's officially questionable to return. We'll update Henry's status when we know more.
Update: Henry returned after missing just a handful of plays.
Titans RB Derrick Henry shined as the lone bright spot in Week 6’s loss vs. the Ravens. The veteran received 12 carries for 97 rushing yards and a TD in the contest. Though his teammate RB Tyjae Spears didn’t cut into the Titans’ rushing workload much this week (4 carries, 15 yards), the rookie led all pass-catchers with 48 receiving yards on Sunday. No other Titan amassed more than 25 yards or exceeded 3 catches. This wasn’t a banner showing for the Tennessee offense, especially with QB Ryan Tannehill being hampered by an ankle issue. Fortunately, they’ll be headed into a bye week in Week 7.
Titans QB Ryan Tannehill completed 8 of 16 passes for 76 yards with an INT before exiting Week 6 vs. the Ravens with a right ankle injury. The veteran left at the end of the third quarter and was replaced by second-year QB Malik Willis. Tannehill was later seen on crutches and shared that he "couldn't put any force into the throws," per ESPN's Turron Davenport. It's worth mentioning that this is the same ankle he injured twice last year, which limited him to just 12 games. The Titans will be on their bye in Week 7, but it'll be crucial to watch for the results of the MRI Tannehill will reportedly receive upon returning from London.
Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence hurt his left knee late in Sunday's win over the Colts. But we can't blame that for his lack of production. Lawrence's injury didn't occur until Jacksonville's last actual offensive play. QB C.J. Beathard came on for only three kneel-downs to close out the game. Before that, Lawrence threw for just 181 yards on 20-of-30 passing. That 6.0 yards per attempt marked Lawrence's second-lowest rate through the first six games -- in his first game with fewer than 200 passing yards. We're not sure there's a larger takeaway from this one, which found the Jags performing just OK on offense in the rematch with a division rival. Jacksonville netted a mere 233 total yards while benefiting from four Colts turnovers. Don't be surprised if Lawrence falls out of the top 12 at QB when we update our Week 7 rankings.
Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard handled 19 of 25 team RB attempts in a Week 6 loss at Miami. He scored once on the ground but surprisingly added only 1 catch on 1 target. Hubbard’s score came on Carolina’s first possession, where he found daylight on a 6-yard run up the gut. Miles Sanders should return following a Week 7 bye, but Hubbard likely earned a bigger role going forward. Carolina squares off with the Texans in Week 8.
